  1. Yep looks like a typo I think that is supposed to be Lord Mistborn on the Boxing the Ascendant Warrior is Vin on the Clip. These do look awesome though must get some! Edit: Wow only $40 from goal clearly everyone else thinks they are awesome too.
  2. Agreed but then we wouldn't have The Stormlight Bachelorette and be able to debate on who will get the rose.
  3. I am really curious if squires can capture if one of your cards are touching your opponents. All these years I have been under the assumption they cannot capture unless your left thumb is on the table and your opponents cup is only half full.
  4. Man would have never thought there would be so many passionate opinions on romance in one of Brandon’s books! As much as I love his books it’s not something I’ve ever felt was his strong suit. A testimate to how much better he gets with each book.
  5. I'm leaning towards Sunmaker as well but I think it is not prudent to rule out present characters as possibilities. There has been precedence set in Mistborn to mix old and new text in the epigraphs.
  6. I told myself o wasn't going to read the preview chapters because it would just drive me crazy waiting for the book. This lasted until yesterday and I caved in reading them all eagerly waiting for the new ones to be posted today. These were not the most exciting chapters thus far. I did really like the interaction between Shallan and Adolin though. Pattern man that spen is hilarious!!! I'm glad he prevented the "accidental mating". The listener card playing was interesting too especially the warning spren. Ugh now a week of waiting..
  7. Although Brandon says he received a lot of inspiration from WoT/Jordan as well as finishing the series I would not call the two authors similar if that is what you are primarily asking. Jordan is a little more meandering in his writing not that is necessarily a bad thing. As far as magic goes Sanderson takes almost a scientific approach in my opinion. There is support of physics in Sanderson's magic where the magic in WoT is more mystical (that may be a bad way to describe it but best I can come up with). The WoT is also very traditional in the way a young man has to become a hero and save the world. I think both are/were great at world building. Sanderson is a little better though the WoT world is plenty interesting and diverse. That being said I loved WoT. I was a Sanderson fan first and read WoT because he finished it. Fair warning it is a commitment and some of the books in the middle drag a bit. It is however a great and very big story. The two series I think most closely mimic Brandon's style are the Powder Mage Trilogy by Brian McClellan (fun fact he was a student of Brandon's) and the Lightbringer series by Brent Weeks. I really liked both of these.
  8. I am right there with you. I didn't even get past the first book. In fact I actually kept putting Lightbringer on the back burner even with all the great praise. Finally started it and read all the books back to back. It's night and day as far as I'm concerned.
  9. Hope you like Ryiria I enjoyed the series. Just finished my re-read of Mistborn Era 1. Its funny how much more I picked up on this time around. Man love those books as much now as I did the first time. Forgot how emotional the ending is! Next up a Stormlight re-read before Oathbringer.
  10. I agree. Only way I see Stormlight working is a TV series like we have seen with GoT. Speaking of bad adaptations (most of you guys may be too young to remember this movie) Dune was probably one of the worst I have seen.
  11. When someone ask you why you are wearing glasses when you usually wear contacts and you want to tell them you are filling your tinmind.
  12. Clearly Brandon should have used aluminum slingshots instead.
  13. I really liked WoT. In fact it is one of the few book series I find myself randomly thinking about long after I finished it. For sure it has flaws and some books really drag on but the overall story is just so big. If you have the time to read it I think it is well worth it. Interestingly I just had something dawn on me while re-reading Mistborn. It was how years just seem to go by in the books off scene. It made me start to think about WoT and how only about 2 and half years pass over the course of 14 very long books. Not saying this is good or bad but it's just a glimpse at the level of detail and grandness of WoT. Of course a lot of this is also because of the multitudes of plot lines and POV. Not sure if the is a positive or negative but I did think it was interesting.
  14. I just finished a re-read yesterday of Well of Ascension! I forgot how much I liked the original trilogy. I plan to go all the way through Era 2 as well then a Stormlight re-read before Oathvember.
  15. Funny way back in 2012 and we eventually did get a story with Hoid in the background. We find out the answer to the question asked above 4 years later. I hope we get the same from Hoid's POV as he's made his cameos through the Cosmere books.
  16. I've never read any of the SW books but was just about to start Thrawn trilogy. No idea if that's a good place to start but seemed to be popular so I thought I'd start there. I don't guess it matters too much where to start since there is so much out there.
  17. It is not something I am expecting anytime soon I'd just love to read Hoid's POV through Elantris, Mistborn, Warbreaker and Stormlight. Just his side to his cameos. Not sure at what point in the cosmere books this could be pulled off. I am almost thinking right before Dragonsteel as a near past story then we go all the way back to the beginning to his story. Of course I am not sure how the final Mistborn era would work with this. Might be tough to do. I may also be in the minority that likes the "behind the scenes" book like Secret History.
  18. @maxal glad to see your enjoying Lightbringer! I've been reading a lot of uninspiring books. Needed a break from Sci-Fi/Fantasy so I read a bunch of Grisham novels. They past the time but that's about it. Decided to re-read Arcanum Unbounded. Just finished Mistborn Secret history. I really like all of Brandon's shorts. One thing I started thinking about. I know we will eventually get Hoid's origen story. I wonder though if Brandon will ever do something similar to Mistoborn Seceret History. Like a Cosmere Secret History following Hoid from his POV as he travelled to the different worlds during the timelines.
  19. It's possible you could get through every book in the Library of Congress before either of those are released.
  20. November seems so far away..
  21. In the same boat here. It has been a while since I read it and that was as far as I got.
  22. That was kind of how I felt as well. I liked all the books don't get me wrong but Jordan did use 100 words when he could have used 10. I may have a different perspective though I was a Sanderson fan that read the series because he finished it.
  23. I liked this series a lot. I have been meaning to read his other books. I listened several of his shorts (free on audible) and they were all good too.
  24. I think she was a good choice. They were smart to cast the new folks as unknowns. Oh and yeah she's hot. Now the real question for me is how well the guy they are casting for the Han Solo prequel will do. Those are some big shoes to fill.
  25. Felt like I needed to switch things up some so I grabbed a phycological thriller The Good Girl by Mary Kubica. It was kinda meh. Decided to then follow this up with a complete read of the Hannibal Lecter books. I read a couple a long time ago but never read the entire series. Started Red Dragon yesterday.
