  1. So sad. Some celebrity deaths hit me harder than others and this is one. Too soon by far.
  2. I don't really see the issue with everyone dying. I didn't know any of these characters exsisted (besides knowing someone stole the Death Star plans) before this movie. I thought the entire purpose was to show the sacrifice to provide hope for the Alliance. Edit: Although I do agree some of the deaths were forced and convenient. It would have probably been better to see most simply disappear with the flash of the Death Star like we did for Jyn and Cassian.
  3. Finally got to see it today. Thought it was good. Agree with a lot of others the beginning jumped around way too much took a while before I really felt like I knew what was going on. I actually thought everyone dying made sense (albeit sad). This was a pretty dark Star Wars movie but also very emotional and a great backstory for New Hope. Makes me want to watch it again. Saw some earlier comments about why Leia would be with the fleet in the middle of the battle. Well it was on purpose from what I gathered. There was the scene where Mon Mothma tells Bail Organa they need someone to escape with the Death Star plans. He says "I know just the women" or something like that. So makes sense they sent Leia she was "just the women".
  4. Just finished the Black Prism. Wow kinda kicking myself for not reading their series sooner. I had read The Way of Shadows several months ago and just couldn't get in to it so I put Lightbringer on the back burner. The author has really refined his writing. Starting The Blinding Knife right away.
  5. Another year and still no beggining in sight for my most anticipated book Nightblood I too am glad to see a more realistic timeline for SA. It does make me wonder though how he will get everything done. If (and that's a big if) he can continue to release a SA novel very 3 years that puts book 10 around 2038. I'm assuming there will be a pretty decent break between SA 5 and SA 6 presumable to write Mistborn Era 3 so book 10 is probably more like 2040-2042. Then Dragonsteel and then Mistborn Era 4? Interestingly not a lot of info on Mistborn Era 3 and 4 just that Mistborn is on Hiatus after next Wax and Wayne book. That's not including all the other side projects mixed in. I'm just wondering if the entire Cosmere scope is a little too ambitious. Hopefully both I and Brandon live to be 100 to see it all! That being said excited to hear about Silverlight!
  6. Taniel was my second favorite character right behind Borbador. Really liking The Black Prism so far. Very intriguing magic system.
  7. @AngelEy3 1) The first book of Kingkiller Chronicles remains one of my all-time favorite books. The second book was not and no idea when the third will come out. 2) Gentelmen Bastards same as above loved the first one and not so much on the second. Have not gone beyond the second one but have heard it gets better. On my list to pick back up. 3) I have read all of WoT it was great but a huge undertaking. With some breaks in between some books took me a little over a year. It does drag some through the second half until the last 4 or so books. Another series you may check out is the Powder Mage trilogy by Brian Mclellan who happened to be one of Brandon's students. It is "Sanderson like" in my opinion. I also just started the Lightbringer series which does remind me of Sanderson a bit. Without the cosmere Brandon is a really good author with the cosmere Brandon is a great author so really hard to compare. One last series I really liked was the Riyria Revelations by Michael Sullivan. Edit: Oh and I completely agree Warbreaker is extremely underrated. I really do not know why. To me it is one of the coolest magic systems and besides maybe Hoid Vasher is the cosmere character I'd most like to know more about.
  8. Let's see.. Read Arcanum Unbounded of course. Edgedancer was a great appetizer for Oathbringer. I completely forgot how much I liked The Emperor's Soul. I think it's Brandon's best short. Also enjoyed reading Secret History again. Really enjoyed reading all of the shorts again. Read a few sci-fi books. We areLegion (We are Bob). Fun read about a guy how frezes his head wakes up a century later and is inserted in a computer for interstellar travel via a von neumann probe. Also read Leviathon Wakes never really got in to that one. Finally read a book on my list forever The Forever War (see what I did there?). Interesting to see the ramifications of relitivity in space travel. It was however written in 1974 and set in the near future of 2007 so it seemed pretty dated. Entertaining enough though. Also read 14 by Peter Clines on the recommendation of several friends. It was really in to it all the way until the last 1/4 and just didn't like it. I may still give his Ex Heros series a shot I dunno. Next up The Black Prism! This series has been on my list for a while now looking forward to digging in. Did I mention how much I can't wait for Oathbringer?
  9. If I'm not mistaken it was originally a comment on Reddit. I'd also guess yes it's a nod to the fans.
  10. All good points above. Yes I believe it is very similar to how alomancers can perceive their metal reserves. My main reasoning is if we assume converting the calories to Stormlight would in turn not allow her body to use those calories for nourishment it would be very detrimental to her if she converted all her calories in to Stormlight without needing it. Now I guess there is the possibility she is living off of Stormlight instead of food but to me that's a little bit of a stretch. I think it was when she was following Darkness around the pond deal that she used her Awesomness and talked about how it made her stronger and more alert. So this is her actually converting her un-metabolized food. To define Having Awesomness is a reserve of un-metabolized food and Using Awesomness is converting to Stormlight. I agree though there is a lot about how she actually does this we do not know.
  11. I agree with Eki. Her reserve is un-metabolized food not Stormlight it self. It does not make sense to me that she would convert food into Stormlight if she did not need it. This would just make her more malnourished.
  12. I've been checking the status bar everyday! Btw that is a lot of 100% Brandon deserves a little break.
  13. I agree with the contrast we are seeing. Reminiscent of Wayne who always comes across as a joker but we've seen some mature moments in his inner monologue. I'd say a lot of the way she portrays herself is a defense mechanism. Not to mention I'd venture to say being completely on your own for a number of years is going to advance your maturity beyond your years.
  14. I feel fine because I've read the prose version. I will say as it stands now it's for sure not a book I'd recommend someone not already a rabid fan to start with but I don't think it's much rougher than Elantris. I do think it's perfect for a graphic novel although I'm a little on the fence about the execution. Hoping future books will change this.
  15. Really curious how everyday joes will interact with the host in the new concept. You don't really have to have a lot of skill to be apart of the Wild West especially if you can't really get killed. The new concept though.. Having a hard time picturing how that will all work but it is one historical period I'd love to get to reenact.
  16. I feel the same and think it is highly underrated.
  17. Agree 100%.
  18. I just assumed this meant everyone on Roshar had clown shoe sized feet. Ym went through a lot of leather.
  19. Funny this is all i could think about too when I read this. What if she slipped...
  20. I finally got a chance to read Edgedancer. I loved Lift from the interlude so I was pretty sure going in I would love this novel and of course I did. In my head cannon Lift is Wayne's Great, Great, Great Grandmother. I was not however expecting so much new info. Really liked seeing more of a Herald and the Skybreakers. Then there was Szeth and Nightblood not expecting that cameo but great to see them (although I'd have liked to see a little evil destroyed). Of course now I am chomping at the bit for Oathbringer.
  21. ^ That would be correct.
  22. Wow what an episode! Lots of theories confirmed.
  23. Brandon is the ultimate answer tease. He gives us all this then adds "The Scar". I think it makes sense this could be Taln's Scar/Red Rip. Anyway pure speculation but to me it makes the most sense this POV is from Silverlight wherever that may reside. So a little confused to see Scadrial and Nalthis in the same constellation. Trying to not read too much in to this but it seems odd to me.
  24. Yes! There is this but they look to be missing episode 8 i couldn't find House of the Rising Sun either. http://www.what-song.com/Tvshow/196/Westworld
  25. I caught Blackhole Sun but not Fake Plastic Trees. Also Paint it Black and Back in Black. Have to pay attention to everything in this show to catch all the treats.
