I honestly do not think this will happen. Or I should say I hope it doesn’t. It is however worth mentioning the person that owned Denth happens to be on Roshar.

[OB] Inside cover art!! Finally!
StormingTexan replied to Overlord Jebus's topic in Stormlight Archive
I was wondering the same. I went back and looked at the first two books there is a full color illustration of Shallan in WoR so hoping these will be in as well.- 321 replies

Possible. I kind of assumed it was other Listener groups gathering supplies like the grain and ships.

I’m a big fan of audio as well. It helps too Michael and Kate are narrating. Whispersync mode is my favorite, reading along with the narrator. I’m torn on if I’ll skip the preview chapters the first run through or not. Knowing myself I think I will skip them.

That is exactly it. When we read the entire book we do not dissect each chapter and have a week to discuss in minutia every detail and possible ramifications. We could have read the book multiple times now in the span we have been receiving the sample chapters. It is probably too late for those of us that have started reading these (it's like a drug lol) but if this really bothers anyone they should probably avoid them on future books. I actually think a group discussion on just a few chapters at a time is fun and it really makes me think of things differently. Plus it is kinda fun just seeing how wrong we are about things and increases my respect for Brandon in his ability to keep us guessing.

[OB] The Unmade Extermination Squad
StormingTexan replied to Toaster Retribution's topic in Stormlight Archive
Totally off topic but from that link. I bet we see Dalinar tell the Nightwatcher this. -
That is a good point.

Pretty much exactly how I think it will go down.

I have a feeling this was just an Easter egg like the rest of his collection and we will probably not see it used. To anyone not familiar with the cosmere it’s just going to be a bird on a guy’s shoulder doesn’t really mean anything besides he may be a pirate. It doesn’t take away from the overall story if you do not get its meaning Cosmere wide just like the items Shallan describes in his collection. I will say the exception to this rule is Nightblood. I’m assuming we will read a lot more about him and without explaining it’s origen in SA would be confusing to a reader not familiar with the other Cosmer works. I’m sure Brandon had a plan for this though.

I like the idea of the disguise except he obviously isn't using it at the time because Shallan recognizes him right away. It wouldn't make much sense for him to have the bird at the time if he is not actively using it to be undercover. It is an oddity in itself a man in Roshar walking around with a "chicken" on his shoulder and would bring attention to himself.

[OB] Dalinar is going to forget Navani
StormingTexan replied to TheLaw's topic in Stormlight Archive
He says If he is recalling this correctly he didn't specifically ask to take away the pain of loosing his wife but that was what the Nightwatcher gave him. Dalinar is assuming this was his curse but very well could be his boon. If her boon was ambiguous as erasing the memories of Dalinar's wife then this could be the reason after marrying Navani he can remeber Evi. I am not completely sold on this theory but it has some merits. Of course with Navani being alive and around Dalinar he shouldn't be able to forget her completely. It would be odd and tragic though. It is a perfect excuse though when he forgets to buy her something for their anniversary. -
Sorry bad choice of words. I meant the bird was acquired from Roshar not brought from First of The Sun.
-
@Subvisual Haze Great catch on the gender. That makes me wonder. Could the spren have altered their appearance for the conversation with Kaladin? To seem less hostile and threatening. She did try to recruit him after all. She chose the appearance of a Shin which is known around Roshar as being a docile peace loving people.

I went back through the first two books and searched "chicken" in WoR there is this part in one of Shallan's flashback scene. And then in Oathbringer So I think it is somewhat safe to say the bird is native to Roshar. Not that this rules out it being an Aviar Mraize could have just taken one of the worms which honestly makes more sense. Edit dendrophobe pointed out may omission in Oathbringer making it not sound like the same bird.
-
Yes Gaz was a sergeant.
-
It does except VenDell didn't have a collection of magical items from bunch of different worlds.
-
Only Brandon could elicit so much discussion over mentioning a "chicken". I'm not going to say it is 100% an Avir but I think it is a likely possibility. I also think it is a little baseless to dismiss it as an Avir because it would be too hard to have one with what we have seen of his collection. I am guessing though we will not get in book proof that it is an Avir and said proof will have to come latter in the form of a WoB. I believe it is mostly an easter egg like the rest of his collection.
-
Nope it does have one per AU. Edit Wow that was like a quadruple ninja

Sorry my bad just re-read some part of Sixth of Dusk I was remembering incorrectly.

But..

I think it would be useful for him to know who proto-radients are. I also think we all assumed a Voidbringer would be blatantly obvious to spot but now after we have seen Kaladin's chapters i am wondering if it will be more like what we are seeing with Radiants which would make it useful as well.
