  1. I actually just re-read all of the Cosmere books. I especially enjoyed the Mistborn re-read since it has been several years.
  2. Anyone else feel like Brandon has spoiled us? I was just thinking about the fact there will not be a Cosmere book released this year (unless you count White Sands Volume 2 which I guess I should) and I got really sad. In comparison to other authors (I will not mention by name) in the genre Brandon is still publishing quality at a very quick pace. Still this will be this first year since 2005 that a Cosmere book will not be published . We were really spoiled in 2016 with 5 books being published. I'm not complaining I'm just sad.
  3. Misborn Era 1 was the first books of Brandon I read and fell in love right away. I recently re-read the original trilogy and enjoyed it even more the second time through as I picked up on a lot of things I missed the first time. I will say I agree it is his best complete Cosmere series (it is also his only one). I am pretty confident SA will end up being his best of course it will be in competition from the other Mistborn eras.
  4. From my earlier post you can see I am not a proponent of this but I also think you cant say it is impossible being we do not know what will happen in the next two SA books much less the last 5.
  5. In Oathbringer in the vision with the Midnight Essence Dalinar was playing the part of a Stoneward and he couldn't summon his armor yet because Windrunner lashed him but yes I shouldn’t have said own surges I meant this in particular as a Windrunner couldn’t lash another KR in plate or use re-growth on another KR in plate if that KR was injured and low on Stormlight.
  6. @RShara You are assuming that is still the case after book 5 of SA.
  7. Another way to put this is why would a KR wear shardplate in the first place? It’s not for protection from normal foes or even a shardblade as they can heal instantly. It protects against voidbinding surges as we see at the tower battle but that’s pretty much the only benefit if you exclude enhanced strength. Also it’s biggest weakness as it apparently interferes with thier own surges. As we have seen in the visions KR wore plate while not fighting voidbringers (while fighting the Midnight Essence) it seems logical that it yields other advantages. I’d say increased strength just like it does for non KR wearers is a safe bet. It’s basically a Stormlight fueled exoskeleton.
  8. I do not think this precludes him from being the Sibling. Nothing says the third Bomdsmith spren has to be the same power level as the other two who are obviously tied to the respective shards. I’m not completely sold he is the Sibling but I also do not think this WoB makes it impossible as well.
  9. I agree with @Strifelover that "steal" was probably used from drama. I do not think the girl had to bond a spren merely attract one to cause curious humans to want to expand out of their land and see the world. Unfortunately just like the real world exploration often leads to conquering.
  10. A cork does not twist off and the no brainer way to do this one handed is to use your teeth (like a pirate open a bottle of rum) so this is for sure a cap and he specifically says twist off which does seem a little out of place given the level of technology on Roshar. There are pretty simple hand tools to cap bottles home brewers use them but you also have to stamp the metal cap. Not only that but you would have to have a threaded bottle for a twist off cap which is a much later invention in our world in the 1960s. Weird though and good catch I didn't think twice about this either time I read it. @Draigon tLR was purposefully suppressing technology except where it was a means to his goal which canning is a perfect example of for his TEOTWAWKI bunkers.
  11. Lets see how weird we can get this.
  12. So glad to hear you liked RPO. It really is a fun book. I’m actually a recovering video game addict and what you mention about if the Oasis is a good thing really resonated with me when I first read the book. Good luck on Night Angel. I read the first book and just couldn’t get in to the series but really like Lightbringer.
  13. Sorry for the double post but it gets all weird when you try and edit a post with just a pic. I think you will find this one punny.
  14. I really liked Sixth of the Dusk as well it is my favorite short story by Brandon behind TES. The world was interesting as well as the future Cosmere implications of the "Ones Above". All in all really solid. Honestly all of Brandon's Cosmere shorts have been good. I hope he continues to write them.
  15. Thats a fair possibility and probably pretty tough for the surgeon Kaladin to agree to as well.
  16. That would be really awesome. I feel like it is more about the inability to save everyone which I can also somewhat see where this could be the contradiction we see in the gem recording below by a Windrunner.
  17. I am extremely skeptical of how successful the Cosmere books will be on the big screen. One of Sanderson's biggest proficiencies in my opinion is the magic system and the action scenes where they are used. I have a hard time seeing how this will be translated on screen in a way that does not turn out looking silly. If you look at the fantasy books that have been successful on screen like tLoR and GoT these rely on characters more than anything in my opinion and while Brandon has some great characters I do not think his books are as character driven. I like Kingkiller a lot. Especially the first book. I can see this adapted to the screen as it is also very character driven. Although I do agree the best part about the books is the prose which I doubt will translate at all. I will say Rothfuss is a frustrating author to be a fan of. Also agree with @Toaster Retribution Reckoners would be a great adaptation.
  18. Ah ok. I knew it was a poplar theory just wondering if I missed something that explicitly says it was caused by the KR as was implied in a couple post here.
  19. You are not the first person I have seen feel this way. I thought Vin/Elend's sacrifice and Sazed's ascension was both dramatic and beautiful so I loved the ending. The re-making of the world and Spook basically becoming the leader of the new world was also awesome for me. I can see how to some it may lack the punch they were looking for though and I am for sure guilty of overhyping a book to the point I become disappointed. I actually didn't like tWoK the first time I read it (after re-reads I do) so I guess not everything is a instant hit with everybody. While everything is still fresh in your mind are you going to read Secret History? May make you appreciate the ending a little more.
  20. Do we have proof that the Shattered Plains were cause by the KR/Surgebinding? I must have completely missed this. That is a really good point and one I have not thought of. Seems like the cause was a number of things compiled.
  21. Nope. Same here.
  22. Surprised no one said "I am Unity" really the entire Thaylen City battle. Adolin vs. 4 duel would be really awesome to watch as well. Pretty much all the action scenes in SA come to think of it will translate really well with a lot of Dr. Strange level CG.
