Timing of What Rashek Did [Chock full of Mistborn Era 1 spoilers]
StormingTexan replied to robardin's topic in Mistborn
In-world per Marasi Scientist believe they did not survive the Catacendre. -
That was kind of what I expected with the previews. I'll watch it though I mean Natalie Portman is in it.
-
I've been curious what the movie will be like because it seems like a really hard adaptation. So much of the book is internal dialogue and I would think the lack of resolution would drive movie goers crazy. Just watched it this weekend thought it was really good.

He did confirm Autonomy.
-
That is exactly what I am trying to figure out. I trust Brandon will make it interesting but man it is hard for me to imagine what we could learn about her past that I would care about.

Maybe this will help clear up the Earh/Roshar calander conversion. Questioner [PENDING REVIEW] Speaking of Rosharan calendar-- So seventeen year old Kaladin, is he the equivalent of a seventeen year old Earthling? Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW] It's 1.1, I think is what is it. Right, they're 10% older than their accounting system. So no. Questioner [PENDING REVIEW] So Adolin is 27, true? Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW] Yeah. Questioner [PENDING REVIEW] So then a year is obviously a lot more than 1.1 but-- Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW] Well no. The years are 500 days, but they're 20 hour days. Keep that in mind. So when you run the calculations kinda together, you end up with around 1.1.

Still holding out hope he may accidentally write Nightblood.

I’ll for sure let you know what I think! If the first book is good I’ll be hooked that’s how I am with trilogies I’ll keep reading no matter what if the first book is good. So far I’m liking Valyn’s story line the best.

I think that is what I wouldn't like about a romantic relationship between Adolin and Kaladin. It is just so overly used in fantasy for the friends to become romantically involved. In the real world we have all fallen for a friend it happens and I get why authors use it but I read books to escape the real world. Plus lets be real how often does that work out? I also 100% agree with you that there should be more opposite sex platonic relationships and I'd be open to more same sex relationships. I respect Brandon for his stance that he does not feel comfortable writing a gay main character but I think he is selling his self short a little. He's done a good job with addicts and suffers of PTSD both of which I am pretty sure he does not have personal experience with. I think he would do fine with this characterization as well. Edit to add: You guys have all now convinced me Adolin is gay btw.

[OB] I FOUND HER! IT'S THERE!!!!!!!!!
StormingTexan replied to NoiseSpren's topic in Stormlight Archive
Trying to picture Vedel without hair now. -
Really great points being made in this thread. Great job outlining this @Dreamstorm ! Honestly I could easily see this even if it is unlikely. Not only have some amazing points and observations been made in this thread but I also think it would be a refreshing change. That being said it kills one of the best relationships in SA for me. Their relationship for me started in the 4 vs 1 duel. Adolin's display of solidarity going to prison for Kaladin was amazing. Their friendship blossomed further in OB. When Adolin was willing to step aside for Kaladin that to me was the epitome of respect and friendship. I like the purity of their friendship and would hate to see a messy romance get in the way. Sometimes a true friendship is just as satisfying as a romantic one and I feel like this is the case with Adolin and Kaladin.

Buy Rock will start a cooking show called "Around the cook pot with Numuhukumakiaki'aialunamor " Ratings will be low the first year as no one can say the name of the show but will pick up once he changes the name to "Around the cook pot with Rock".

Buy that sounds awesome, Navani will figure out how to re-create the Urithiru voice recording gems. Her first recording will be Jasnah singing "All the single ladies".

Why do Bondsmith and Stonewards not get along? Too much Tension between them.

Half way through The Emperor's Blades and liking it so far. I've had this book for a while bought it on sale and forgot about. A little darker than what I usually read but it is keeping me interested.

Saw this Saturday with my two kids 9 and 10. I absolutely loved it and thought the casting was top notch. I mentioned bringing my kids because I was prepared for the violence and language but not the social messages as well. I won’t get in to it too much other than it was a little more adult than I thought it would be. Other than that this was an extremely successful adaptation in my opinion. I was really intrigued by the Black Panther in Civil War and happy to see the stand alone so successful.

Nice idea! In actuality it looks like it is the other way around. This religion influenced the iridescent tones religion in Warbreaker per Brandon's chapter 50 annotations in WoA. Source- https://brandonsanderson.com/annotation-mistborn-2-chapter-fifty/

Agreed. I think our only opportunity to have seen him thus far would have been Sixth of the Dusk if my timeline is right. Other than that it is possible for the back five of Stormlight and I would absolutely love to see him and Lift together negotiating a food trade. Edit: How rude of me.. Welcome!

I believe once they are returned the Court of Gods tells the Returned their name and attributes (i.e. Blushweaver honesty and interpersonal relations) and I would assume their appearance develops right after that. Just like everything else this is probably somewhat subjective to the individual returned. I do however agree with you Morena Baccarin would be an excellent choice. Man ever since Firefly hubb hubba.

Yes that is Vasher's wife Yes that is correct as well. Vasher killed her to keep the secret on how Nightblood was made. He feared she would make the information public as she did with the one breath lifeless command. There was apparently a battle where she used Nighblood and it terrified Vasher. Correct one of the 5 scholars. They actually can but it takes knowledge and practice. The Returned in the Court of Gods appear how they perceive them self but with practice and knowledge they could change this just like Vasher. You can read the annotations to Warbreaker on Brandon's website which provides a lot more insight. https://brandonsanderson.com/annotation-warbreaker-dedication/

[OB] Poll: Which news will the coalition take worse?
StormingTexan replied to WhiteLeeopard's topic in Stormlight Archive
Just a side note this very well may appear this way to the coalition however I think it is incorrect. Nale joined the side of the Singers not necessarily Odium. I would say to ultimately not be under anyones control Shard or Humans. If the battle of Thaylen is any indication he is taking a neutral role in the war between Odium and Humans.
