  1. Woo! Congrats Voidus
  2. definitely, that is basically what Iconoclast does too (except in people's brains) so as long as you keep it within a realistic amount of alteration (so they are as strong or as fast as a very very strong or fast normal guy could be, for instance) I have no issue with it. Inspiring fanaticism is probably too strong a form of mind control, however, from what we know is canon. Maybe he can inspire feelings of loyalty, awe, adoration etc, so that people are just more likely to follow him? Like a powerful Rioter that can only riot loyalty. yeah, as Voidus said go ahead We can start a private conversation too to work out the details of the interaction and get some ideas about the hunt for Bushfire and such EDIT: Also, I've added some plotlines to the document
  3. That's a good point, potentially a minor plot hole actually. In the books they work it out to be 16 miles I think. I'm sure we can work things out for your characters though- how about they tend to stay close by each other and thus the humans never lose the powers? I also think the spreadsheet is a good idea. Politely prodding people is probably the perfect plan for progressing the plot lines. ....I got about halfway through that sentence before I realized what I was doing, so I rolled with it XD
  4. Who was it that suggested a team of mercenaries in the Wastelands? I was just curious because my latest Wendigo post could foreshadow their involvement, if you were willing to bring them in in a bit?
  5. Philip Lanza, Town of Wendigo, Day 5 "And s-so, y-your eminence, you can see that a number of households have been found frozen to death. T-they didn't have enough firewood. Bushfire continues to raid our convoys, and the Snowmen are too slow to-" Wendigo's frosty voice hissed from behind her mask of ice. "You dare blame my Snowmen for your own failure?" Philip Lanza, in charge of the city's logistics and administration, gulped, eyes widening. "N-no my lady! It is just that Bushfire's raiders are-" "I do not care if mere humans die. If they die, then they clearly were not strong enough to deserve to live in my paradise." Lanza kept his head bowed, to not betray the despair that crossed his face. People were dying and she would do nothing? Wendigo thoughtfully scratched her chin with a long icy claw. "On the other hand.... Their hardship is due more to that flaming bitch than their own weakness...." Lanza raised his head, smiling. "Your insights are as wise as you are terrible, my queen. Perhaps it is time to venture forth and destroy her, once and for all?" Wendigo froze, the temperature dropping rapidly. Lanza dropped to the ground, kow-towing as deeply as possible, sensing her rage. Silence. Finally, she spoke. Her voice was frosty with rage. "No... I will not be doing that. I am far too important to bother with such an insignificant fly." Lanza sighed in relief. She would not kill him, then. But still... As unreasonable as she was, why did she react like that? Wendigo continued. "Even my Snowmen are too important to waste again searching for her gang. Bring my chief of security. I will dispatch her to find the best people to deal with this problem. And extinguish Bushfire at last." Lanza bowed again, and gratefully left the room.
  6. Yeah activity really died down over time. I guess lots of activity is easier when it is only a few people with a few characters at a time, who can post one after the other quickly.
  7. Backtrack can read minds? That is pretty cool, I thought he could only see the past.
  8. Well that Epic would basically be Bubbles. So id be inclined not to have more than one force-field protected city, unless the visuals and feel is different enough. haha we aren't going to yell at you over a joke. although i think her weakness effect would be less severe- as long as she is alive, the triangles should just pause and feelings disappear while her weakness is active.
  9. exactly- people only even associate Calamity with Epics because of the time correlation. They only name it Calamity because of the Epics too. Every sort of crazy theory could occur. Why not someone who believes that Calamity irradiates people to give them powers, and thus Epics give off the same radiation?
  10. Well Epics love being adored- it could be sort of a David character, but is a bit of a sociopath and completely admires Epics and thus either adores them from afar or is an Epic sycophant. Could be a coping mechanism of some sort- whole family was murdered by a human, so fantasizes about being an Epic and associates with them out of this obsession.
  11. Tribourne, Present Day, Day 5 Quakezone smiled as a servant massaged conditioner into his scalp, eyes closed in bliss. His baths were his only chance to relax and just.... let go. The responsibility of ruling a third of a city was trying at times. He had had to execute a good fifty people earlier, and his leg was exhausted from all the stomping. He insisted on executing every malcontent and dissident himself- never pass a sentence that one wouldn't carry out yourself. Eddard Stark was wise in that way. This lot had been thieves, mostly- food thieves. Stealing most things was simply punished by amputation or a whipping, but in these times of shortages, stealing food from the government, and thus from their fellow citizens.... it could only be punished with death. "You've had such a long day, haven't you master?" His servant said, smiling. Quakezone sighed. "You wouldn't believe it, Sarah. These people... can't they see that I know what is best for them?" "Exactly, they are so blind." "Aren't they just? Sometimes I just want to kill people until they see things my way." "But as a merciful lord, you know that that wouldn't work." He sighed again, and rolled his eyes. "I suppose so. At least I can relax, and just rest after-" Suddenly there was a knock on the door. Quakezone's eyes opened, and then narrowed. "It better be important!" He snarled. The door opened, and Glasstorm walked in, bowing to his lord. It was a measure of Quakezone's confidence that he allowed his Epics to see him naked, with a servant woman massaging his head, in a bubble bath. "My lord, I have grave news." Quakezone straightened himself. "What is it?" "Laserbolt has done something. I'm still receiving reports, and all the details are not clear, but it looks like she is driving people into our district. Foundry's too" "What? But why? I want people to move here, it is a mark of the superiority of my rule." "She is sending the elderly, sir. The unemployed, vagabonds, thieves, criminals, orphans. The food shortages have been worst in her district, I believe that she is sending her useless, hungry mouths to us. She is also hosting what appear to be mass blood sports. Randomly selected citizens are being forced to kill each other for the right to remain in her district, and the surviving losers are being expelled. Frankly, I am impressed by her strategy." Quakezone scowled. "This requires urgent attention. Immediately. Servant, dress me and then leave us. Glasstorm, call a meeting of my council. I want their advice on the response I will formulate. This insult cannot be allowed to stand."
  12. Especially considering that the Wastelands is see so soon after Epics take over, i doubt Knighthawk has even gotten his factory going to any great degree. Motivator science would still be in its infancy, as would the places that produce them. I doubt Aus would have any motivators at all tbh, even if some scientists managed to figure out the trick.
  13. Hahaha it's this darn phone, my fingers keep hitting the wrong buttons and I rush too much to spellcheck XD
  14. Well they will be fired if they fail to find bushfire, and fired if they fond her and lose
  15. We know that different powers can be gifted in different levels, yeah. But you cant gift more power than you have, just a limited charge of it. Epics tend to kill their families though.
  16. So they can ignore the pain entirely. It is an otherwise cool idea though - how about you tamper with it a bit. Because it is a cool concept. What about a gang of unrelated Epics, one of whom is a gifter who can gift enhanced physical qualities, and they are mercenaries in the outback? Wendigo could fire them to find and kill Bushfire maybe? That could be fun
  17. i like to think that the first Epics were of medium strength, without PIs. that way they escalate in power until High Epics start appearing and the situation becomes truly hopeless for society. Trump as an Epic.... Trumpeter Real Name: Donald Trump Primary Power: Sonic Scream: Trumpeter can emit a powerful and deafening sonic scream of racist slurs that creates waves of force. Secondary Power: Barrierkinesis: Trumpeter can create and control walls. Weakness: Anyone who isn't vaguely offended by him. And the only one who can defeat him..... The Berner Real Name: Bernie Sanders Primary Power: Pyrokinesis: Feel the bern alright.... Secondary Power: Emotional Manipulation: Can manipulate emotions, but only of large groups in his line of sight. Weakness: Rich people.
  18. I don't think another RP setting entirely is a good idea tbh. Too many settings and we spread people too thinly. Most threads are only progressing very slowly as it is. The idea of Obama as an Epic is pretty cool XD But it definitely would have been mentioned. EDIT: The factions? sure -The government: ruled by Queen Lucentia, currently Deathgale is looking after the place. The Metal, Bloody Mary, and the Financier (among others) are part of this faction -Icesteel Keep: ruled by Winterspell, he rules a semi-independent fiefdom on the river in an icy fortress. -Both are at peace and Winterspell owes fealty to Lucentia. Those are the only factions a random civilian would know about, and they might not call them separate factions. A random civilian would probably note the big shadowy tower that had arisen sometime overnight, and may have heard of a battle happening outside the city walls, but other than that they wouldn't know.
  19. That's true, but as someone said we should avoid the FSA.
  20. and in my humblest of opinions I think time-related powers are not a good idea, personally. Too reality-breaking. Well as it happens the Wastelands is about 50% flashbacks to the first year of Epic appearances (and is itself set in the second year after Epics appeared), so while all of those scenes would be told in the past they could very well be done.
  21. An interesting thought, that they might 'count' as one person.
  22. And she is certainly powerful enough to be consistently named in the top few scariest Epics in the FSA. Works quite well really. yeaaaaah the fates need reworking i can see them being twins and having the same power working fine though, if we retcon their powers. If at least one pair of twins in the FSA can survive 10 years, certainly a pair in Aus can survive for 1-1.5 years (so far)
  23. the idea was that he had whatever power people believed he had. The whole city believes he has flight- he has flight. A messy power I agree, I wish I had of spoken out more against it to get it removed instead of just nerfed. Ah well.
  24. exactly, it would be far too powerful. I guess it is a temporary acquisition anyway- so they will have a copy of the Epic's power but not their original power. We need to WOB this stat hahaha that would certainly make her very powerful. I think I suggested it ages ago but I'll resurrect the suggestion- one of our own powerful female Epics renaming herself Night's Sorrow and causing much of the destruction of Oregon somehow. But who? Funtimes after going dark? Lucentia? Bloody Mary? Scribbler? The idea of Scribbler becoming Night's Sorrow is actually terrifying and sad :'(
  25. True.... Would the assumed then take the WHOLE power, or only the motivator part? True, being Calamity and all. We would have to decide i guess.
