  1. So, I was asleep by this point, but I got my confirmation e-mail from Amazon at 1:20 AM (eastern), so I assume that's when it became available on my Kindle.
  2. This passage caught my eye: "I relied a lot of the vision of my editor, Moshe Feder, my agent, Joshua Bilmes, and my editorial assistant, the Instant Peter Ahlstrom." Wait, what? "... the Instant Peter Ahlstrom." Well... that's... hmm. That's certainly an adjective. Peter Ahlstrom! Just add water! (Just having a little fun, Peter! )
  3. Well... 12:05 eastern time and nothing has appeared yet on my Kindle. Guess I'll just go to bed and get into the book in the morning.
  4. It had been a while since I first read AoL, so I started re-reading it about a week ago in anticipation of Shadows of Self coming out. Finished the re-read on Friday, but I didn't want to start a new book since I knew SoS was coming out Tuesday, so I decided to jump back and start re-reading Mistborn. I have to admit, reading about Kelsier and Vin using their Mistborn powers was actually pretty jarring after getting used to Wax and Wayne's version of Scadrial. Early in the book when Kelsier first uses Steel, then switches to Iron when breaking into Keep Venture, I immediately thought, "Wait! He can't do... ooooooohhhh, right. Mistborn." And then he gets into the fight with the Venture Hazekillers and Allomancers, and I nearly passed out from shock. (Ok, not really, but it does take a little getting used to. )
  5. I feel the anticipationspren in the air...
  6. Perhaps it's midnight of whatever Amazon thinks your local time is, then?
  7. /checks Kindle bookshelf Nope. //checks Kindle bookshelf 5 minutes later Nope. (repeat)
  8. /pages Metacognition to post in this thread (Because more Meta being Meta while talking about meta is best meta.)
  9. Perhaps Luthadel was named for a man named Luthor. Lexillimus Luthor. Who went by the nickname "Lex." /crossover post in wrong thread
  10. Since you're fresh off of WoK, I'd definitely read WoR next (though once I found out that Brandon almost named it "The Book of Endless Pages," that's always my headcanon name for WoR now). WoR is, without question, my favorite Sanderson book, and it's even better when you're fresh off of WoK, so you remember everything that came before what you're reading now. I also agree with other posters who have said that after WoR, you can tackle the rest of Mistborn once the Wax & Wayne book are out, so you can read straight through those, and then read the 10th anniversary version of Elantris once it's out.
  11. Unfortunately, Vindaw is going to have to bow out of this game. I was looking forward to playing another one of your games, Hero, but I've had a RL situation come up that's going to keep me from being able to put the time I would need into in a long game like this to be able to do it justice.
  12. Actually, it was your sig line.
  13. Welcome back, Inexorable SnoopKip!
  14. Vindaw, an innkeeper from just outside Kae, is joining the game. Most people think he looks vaguely familiar to them (they always think he looks like someone they know, but can't figure out who), but when asked about his origins, he always claims to be from an obscure corner of Teod. He also has an odd tattoo at the base of his neck, which is partially hidden by his shoulder-length hair. In reality, he's a Forger who escaped from the Rose Empire, and he soul-stamps his appearance specifically to achieve that "vaguely familiar" look so people will trust him. He has parlayed this into his moderately-successful inn about a half-day's travel from the Royal Palace, and now he's hoping to gain a royal charter to boost his business even further.
  15. General Robert E. Lee was definitely a feruchemist. He primarily used 3 metalminds: Chromium, Zinc, and Electrum. Unfortunately (no pun intended), he emptied his Chromium stores in the early morning hours of July 1, 1863. Joan of Arc was clearly a rioter. Finally, I'm fairly certain that the man we knew by the name of "Benjamin Franklin" was actually Hoid.
  16. Old man high five! I graduated from college/university/whatever-you-want-to-call-it 17 years ago. That "learning to act like a responsible adult" thing was kind of tricky for me, though. It was one of the lessons that took me the longest to learn.
  17. Aw, how could y'all kill off Mitosis so early? He was the primary antagonist of that Cosmere novelette... right? /trollgazes in Kobold King's direction
  18. Well, since someone started the blasphemy before me... In one of the most unusual questions that he's received at his most recent book signing, Brandon Sanderson had to clarify to the local leadership of the LDS church that the Pearl of Great Price was, in fact, not Cosmere.
  19. I had voted in the thread rather abruptly and without explaining myself when I thought Winter was about to un-extend the cycle and end it right around the time I was posting on Friday. And since then I've been out and about with my family for the Mothers Day weekend in the U.S. I did pop in yesterday before the cycle ended and decided to change my action to getting Atium instead of voting, since I the longer I thought about it, the more sense it made that Piff wasn't an Eliminator. I somehow neglected to cancel my vote in the main thread, though... probably because I was trying to do internet-y things in the middle of nowhere in one of the "most rural" areas in the South, and the internet don't go there too much. :-)
  20. In the interest of not wanting another villager team to be unpleasantly surprised by an "unannounced" rule as my house was, I also want to point out that this also goes for marriage contracts that you have successfully purchased already. If, once you have purchased the contract, you then attempt to marry into a house, and someone else has put in a contract for that same house during the same cycle, apparently the target house gets to choose which contract they want, and the loser's contract just goes away (along with whatever amount of Atium you spent to get it). It would have been nice to know that there was a risk of this happening before my house spent a total of 5 Atium only to end up with no items, no Atium, no marriage, and almost no useful information about anything. We were taking risks that we didn't know about, because they hadn't been explained at all to the group.
  21. I would like to request a 24-hour extension. Winter has not replied to this question, which is very important in my house's strategy going forward. In addition to this situation above, I didn't receive any PM giving me the results of my Night 3 actions until over halfway through the cycle, after I PM'ed the GM asking about it.
