  1. true, but one is coming through allomancy while the other is through ferruchemy. I'm not saying it definitely can't work, but it isn't too much of a stretch to assume that you could only have one ferruchemy channel open per attribute, for instance.
  2. Question occurred to me in another thread: Can a ferruchemist with 2 metalminds of the same attribute simultaneously tap one and store into the other? (example: could someone tap weight from an ironmind and, at the exact same time, store weight into a different ironmind?) don't see why they wouldn't be able to, but I don't know of any example of it happening either
  3. I'm not 100% sure about that. can you store into a metalmind while tapping a different metalmind of the same attribute? I guess you might be able to. can't think of any particular reason why you wouldn't, but I can't think of any particular reason why you would have to be able to either. but for recharging the bands, that is what you would need to do: store the allomantic and ferruchemical investiture abilities that you don't normally have into a metalmind while tapping them from the bands.
  4. I was always of the opinion that allomantic strength was generally more of a greater investiture per gram of metal thing (though It could also affect burn rate) but I don't think we ever got a 100% confirmation on that. agree with you that ferruchemical strength is not likely to fit with the store/tap rate idea. it had occurred to me yesterday when I was making my post, but I just didn't see how that could work for pretty much exactly the reason you give. as to being able to pack more investiture into a given amount of metal...maybe. we know that investiture interferes with other investiture, so a "stronger" ferruchemist might just be someone who is better able to overcome that interference, and thus pack more investiture into a given mass (I assume mass, not volume or something else, is the limiting factor here).
  5. Yea, that's all true, I suppose. I dunno, I guess as someone who falls more into he casual fan area, this is more than I'd be willing to pay. I think part of it is that I do legitimately like the idea of the different possible routes the game can take, I just don't like the degree to which they are being separated into different games (especially as someone who wouldn't have bought the special edition). I'd say this isn't as bad as what Pokemon does but still bugs me a little bit.
  6. Well, bear in mind that there is a cost to ferruchemical compounding. as described by Sazed in the original trilogy, you could be at 50% strength for an hour, then tap it for 150% (not 200% - you are adding to or subtracting from your strength, not multiplying or dividing) for an hour, or 200% for about half an hour, etc, but as you tap more and more of it at once, the duration decreases in a non-linear way, so maybe you could be at 300% strength for about 14 minutes instead of the normal 15, and 500% strength for 6 minutes instead of 7.5. not sure what the exact ratio is for that, but you get my point. so given that, maybe ferruchemical strength could be something like efficiency in tapping the metalmind? so it would reduce (or increase while filling the nicrosilmind) the penalty for drawing on a lot of an attribute at once.
  7. for that matter, once the nicrosilmind runs out, you would lose all the powers you didnt start out with. And in this era it would be difficult to impossible to actually recharge that, since there are no full mistborn or full ferruchemists left
  8. Yea, I was aware that you could turn permadeath off in some of the more recent entries, but its hard to shake an ingrained opinion even then. didn't know the preorder was $80. Nintendo are really milking this for all its worth
  9. I always sour on fire emblem, because I can't stand losing my people so I end up replaying the same level a million times trying to tweak it just enough that no one dies. this is not very productive. that said I read a little bit about this one earlier today and I thought the concept of getting a different version of the game depending on which side you choose sounded really cool (although nintendo definitely set it up in the best way to make the most money off of it). Apparently there is a third version, Revelations, coming out soon for those who don't want to pick either side.
  10. ah, yes that is slightly different than how I had interpreted it. though honestly, I think both might be worthwhile questions. for adding a second attribute, I imagine it would normally be difficult, but what about something like the pathian earrings, which have a very weak charge. presumably there wouldn't be all that much interference from something like that (though the granted attribute wouldn't be very strong either).
  11. don't think that was quite what he was asking. it sounded more like he wanted to know if the same spike could be charged with two (or more) different attributes. for example could you charge an atium spike with allomantic bronze and then charge it again so it also grants allomantic pewter?
  12. the vixen cartoon were pretty good (and they did neat things like changing her shadow when she was using a different animal power). looking forward to seeing her live action.
  13. right, but I assume a multivitamin has some slight (non-zero) amount of calories. the beauty of compounding is that it rises exponentially. even a very small starting amount becomes unfathomably big after just a few iterations. if a vitamin had only one one thousandth of a calorie, it would only require about 7 rounds to get it to an amount that lasts more than a day (10^-3 * 10^7=10^4=10000=5 days worth of food calories). another three rounds and you have several years worth. so a vitamin and a little bit of water (sugar water if the vitamin really doesn't have enough caloric value to get the process rolling) would be all you need for...well ever, really
  14. let me second these. Malazan book of the fallen is littered with last stand battles. The final book in teh series has something like 4 or 5 in its own right.
  15. not if you also spiked them with Allomantic bendalloy too. then they could eat like a single multi-vitamin and compound all the nutrients into infinite nutrition.
  16. that...that is basically the opposite of the reaction I had.
  17. gonna second or third or whatever the comments on the Magicians series. they've covered all of what I would say better than I could , so I just wanna throw a little extra weight as one more person agreeing Just finished final book of Malazan Book of the Fallen. series was very good, but kind of exhausting to read. next up is Bands of Mourning, then I probably take a break from reading for a little while to recover (the other three books in my queue will have to wait for a while)
  18. I actually do like their version of Killer Frost, but otherwise, I'll just 3rd that post. for arrow:
  19. I don't know about that one. rune magic in deathgate is a lot more complex (though less well described) than it is in elantris (though the emperor's soul is probably somewhat close, but that is more down to the complexity of what they are attempting). and runes/symbols as a basis for magic is literally ancient history, it predates modern literature by a long ways, I'd imagine
  20. a bit strange, but given that he has so much stuff going on in the cosmere, it isn't exactly surprising that he would get mixed up or even change his mind on what needs to be RAFOed
  21. yea, I'm well aware of the hype and it pretty much lives up to it so far (forest temple now). I was more excited for the snes and n64 games on the virtual console than for any of the wii or wii u games
  22. I always thought people who suggested reading in any other order were really overreacting. sure the rincewind books aren't the best in the series, but they are still good. if you try the color of magic and dont like it, then maybe skip to small gods or guards guards before giving up, but chances are if you are going to like discworld, you'll like it from the get go, I'd imagine
  23. that's what I'm hoping. because otherwise it wouldn't really work within the Flash's continuity
  24. Recently bought a Wii U (I have my reasons) and have been playing the Virtual Console Ocarina of Time, which I missed out on when it originally came out because I didn't have an N-64. I'm familiar with the plot and most of the sidequests and so forth already (from friends who have played it and general cultural osmosis), but have never played through it before, is that is pretty fun.
  25. I'll second you on the Flash stuff. I liked that they were smart enough to realize that half of them had already done just as bad or worse for their families (like open up a vortex and destroy half the city, for instance). Arrow was pretty good, but that battery thing bothered me a bit, just because of how amazing that technology would be. Felicity's speech was along the lines of "we made this amazing 100% recyclable battery technology, it's amazing." then just as a sort of aside at the end mentions that they have been powering a skyscraper with a battery the size of an i-phone. that is so far beyond anything the real world is currently capable of that its absurd. the board member worrying about how she would handle the presentation: it doesn't matter. technology like that would completely revolutionize several different industries. it has a built in customer base of literally every power company that is trying to use solar or wind power, for instance. plus probably car companies trying to sell electric cars, and certainly the military. put simply, it would pretty much overthrow the energy industry. if power storage/generation scales with volume, then a version of that battery the size of a smallish house could power a whole city. and he was worried that people might not buy it because she was a bit clumsy? Legends: I've not been very certain about this version of Vandal Savage, but he was definitely better this week than in all of his previous appearances (including the flarrow crossover eps). My first instinct when Hawkman dies was somethign along the lines of: he reincarnates, so we will be seeing more of him, but I kinda hope they can do a south park style running gag where he dies in each episode he's in. I don't know whether to blame the writers or the actor or maybe both, but that character is just not doing anything for me. in fact he's kinda terrible, and it is dragging Kendra down too (though most of that is the writers) also, side note: cbs and cw are apparently going to do some kind of crossover between Flash and Supergirl in March. personally I'm looking forward to it.
