  1. Different strokes for different folks I decided to read The Soldier's Art by Anthony Powell.
  2. I...I like Teen Titans Go!... And I might get stoned outside the city walls for this, but I think it is better than the previous Teen Titans show (ducks and runs).
  3. I think this is very clearly explained
  4. For not understanding the true power of ginger snaps or fig newtons
  5. Made of clay (and we use dreidel )
  6. Yeah, I know the diction is weird, but that should read as a Frenchman saying "Fire the missiles" in a silly French accent. So, you know...French Canadian (ducks before maxal can hit him with a heavy object)
  7. Well, once you wake up, fire ze miss-ilesz!
  8. I don't know... Wayne might trade our nukes for a hat and not tell anyone. He can be Chairman of the Fed, though
  9. Your salty tears not only sustain me, they are delicious! And to continue the Train of Thought (choo! Choo!): The Shawshank Redemption
  10. You should see a doctor about that I am pretty much in the camp of "Any one who is not Republican, but definitely not Cruz." I just wish Bernie did not insist that the two words associated with his campaign were "Socialist" and "Revolution" in that order. That's going to be a pain to explain to the undecided if he gets the Democratic nomination
  11. To me, it was not better than the movie, but it was not worse either. I'm glad I read it, and as a fan of purple prose I am confuzzled that you think that there was too much description or that it was flowery... but now I know not to recommend Lord Dunsany to you (poor, Lord Dunsany-less soul!). Anyway, I don't think I would read it again, and I am not interested in reading any of her other stuff. That, and Tom Cruise was a better Lestat than the one in the novel.
  12. It's getting worse recently. I'm at the point where I'm scarily accurate at knowing what I'd like and still have not exhausted the list of books I would like to read. I pretty much do not need or require recommendations from anyone... the issue, of course, is that people somehow do not like their recommendations being casually dismissed (I know, I know, it puzzles me too ) So now I have to feign interest when someone says something like, "You like to read? Have you read the Hunger Games? It's sooo good! No, I haven't read anything else." I pretty much have to respond with, "Oh, I haven't read it yet, but it seems like a lot of people like it!" instead of "Yeah, I don't read stuff that is essentially a less-inspired version of Battle Royale or Stephen King's The Long Walk." It's also good to have friends that know better Interview with a Vampire was decent. That's about all I can say, seems like everything else is derivative of that one work.
  13. The recommendations for Brent Weeks always illicites the "You're not the boss of me!" reaction from myself I have similar reactions to Pride and Prejudice and To Kill a Mockingbird, so it certainly has nothing to do with quality.
  14. Iiiiiii-I-I... have become... Comfortably Numb *air guitar solo*
  15. "Doctor, Doctor... what is wrong with me? This supermarket life...is getting long. What is the half-life of a color TV? What is the shelf-life of a teenage queen?"

  16. Speaking of Cruz (if that is his real name) apparently 40 percent of Floridians believe he is, in fact, the Zodiac killer.
  17. City of Stairs is great. Still haven't read the sequel, though I own it. Finished Blood Meridian. Not sure if I need a palate cleanser or even how much of one I need.
  18. Paint Your Wagon
  19. For being the first to say that without intending it as a pun! Well done!
