  1. But do they have more cats than Turkey?
  2. Pepper spray is for cooks! You should carry around bear mace...especially if it's a peaceful neighborhood! That, and when you see your family on holidays you can spray your dad's face for not offering one word of congratulation! And your mom's face because your finger slipped repeatedly
  3. The misuse of old dystopian literature to prove a point. You know, like saying something is like 1984. It almost never is, but that does not stop people. Recently, it's reference to the Sinclair Lewis novel, It Can't Happen Here, that is being used in a "See! We've been warned about people like Trump!" Except that it really isn't about people like Trump, even if it is about or concerned with the rise of fascism in America. No, the despot in this novel was based on a New Deal Socialist Democrat named Huey Long, who was going to campaign on a platform that is much more similar to Sanders campaign before he was assassinated. I mean, in an attempt to take down the other side and look "cultured" while you are at it, you end up giving ammunition to the other side. Le sigh.
  4. I've always wanted to try rose ice cream!
  5. Yep. A lot of times it's easier to keep a crappy employee than to find a new one and train them. Add to that that if you fire someone you have to pay into their unemployment, and there are plenty of reasons for the establishment not to right out can his chull.
  6. See? They even waited a few days after International Prank Day to start! Congratulations!
  7. Curse you, Ben Franklin!

  8. Honestly, I think you guys are focusing on a "storyteller" instead of a mere author. An author uses writing tools and techniques to communicate ideas to a broader audience. An author can write a story, a study, a textbook, a report, etc. An author's quality can be said to be a function of how well they can communicate an idea to their chosen audience.
  9. Team Iron Man. When the hero was wrong, the world was nearly destroyed by Ultron. One could also argue that the HYDRA infestation of SHEILD and the danger that presented was due to insufficient oversight and a badly defined doctrine of responsibility.
  10. It is a new experience, that's (mostly) all. The first time I made major life decisions, I was certain I'd be dead within the week. Yet here I am, in a mostly mentally lucid state! Ha ha! Once you get through this, you'll find it wasn't so perilous after all and that your parents are idiots/willfully manipulative.
  11. Ya know, that would make a whole lot of sense.*Orlion stares at his cat who stares back vacantly. Suddenly, the cat reveals his claws. "You know too much", he meows*
  12. I, too, like the site's profanity checker and will test it from time to time. Which reminds me: well, that had to be redacted. Can't catch them all, I guess That's rough for your brother, but you know what they say: salt heals all wounds! You should never take medical advice from "they".
  13. Makes sense, but I seem to get a Tom Bombadil vibe as well. Like Tom with the One Ring, I can imagine Discord playing with the Shards a little bit, getting bored and then tossing them aside to do something else.
  14. Premium goods come at premium prices... Mwahaha!
  15. Rowling is in a position to assert as much creative control as she wants, I imagine. This is probably 100% Rowling.
