    I mean exactly what I said, that they can handle the truth. Desert has nothing to do with it. In either event, let's look at some scenarios, shall we? Spoilered so the discussion can be ignored. And why not, let's include a trigger warning as well. But to bring this back to Gargoyle's situation: If he wants to be someone people tell the truth to about himself, he has to be someone that can handle that. It looks like he is trying to be that sort of person, and it sucks that people are still uncertain about the type of person he wants to be. Of course, if he continues on his path, they will begin to trust him. It's a process, sometimes long and tedious, but people (the worthwhile ones anyway) can see that and adjust their behavior accordingly.

    Blasphemy! NEXT is good! Not his most polished, but it does educate you and make you think! There's a few of his I haven't read yet... I should rectify that this year! As far as whether Malazan maintains that level of violence and adult content, you'll want to finish Deadhouse Gates before you ask that question again

    One has to show they can handle the truth before people will treat them as such. And even then, sometimes we lie because it doesn't matter. Maybe somebody's face just really annoys you at the moment. So what do you do when someone asks you what's wrong? One normally doesn't say "your face" because it's temporary and not that big a deal. Instead you lie and say, "nothing" or "Donald Trump".

    Speaking of things to do that are far away, is Old Tucson Studio still around? Or did it burn down one too many times? It sucks, but remember a lot of times the best you can do is be there. A lot of times, "trying to fix things" is the exact opposite of what people want.

    It'd be better to give her the problem of shutting her trap to solve. (My, aren't I contentious today? ) The main issue that I see is that boundaries need to be set. Even if it's a thanks no thanks. She needs to understand that prepping for Louisiana while it is still a very real possibility takes priority. Otherwise, she will definitely continue on that course of belittling and manipulating you as much as possible. You don't have to be as confrontational about it as I'm implying, but you shouldn't accept any blame either. Edit: these are of course, my opinion. What you have framed do far as far as a response is good...I just wish you were able to leave the situation in bombastic fashion

    It's kinda hard not to implicate her, but if you need another alibi, you could blame the combined stress of working, job hunting, and selling the home. Or you can spray her with holy water.

    Bad idea, that's her game field. Keep it focused on the job, that you do not want to divide your focus, etc. That if she wants to support you, actually do so.Walk away if you need to. Whatever problems that causes will be less than if you do happen to blow up.

    Yeah, now's as good a time as any to make a stand. Let her know, "Hey, I am focused on this right now, and if you really want to support me, do so." If she gives you lip, interrupt her, stand up! You probably do not have to go as far as that, but as Picard said in reference to the Borg: "The line must be drawn here!"
