World misconceptions that are difficult to shift.
natc replied to ljósmóður's topic in Stormlight Archive
Well, Aang is the conflicted bald airbender, minus the dark part and never actually killing anyone. The more murderous bald airbender would be Zaheer, but he's never conflicted. Hmm. -
Parts are from an older excerpt of this chapter I recall reading. Many parts were not there before. That I like. Also, we have a Father Demoux in the wedding planning conversation.

AFAIK the well simply takes 1024 years to fully fill and require someone to empty it. Desolations are much more irregular in length it seems.

They were already showing signs of intelligence by HoA, tbh. The loss of the main spike source (TLR) would've meant more spike recycling, and by extension more decay. The spikes themselves might have weakened substantially over time, on top of whatever Sazed did to them. The reproduction thing is definitely new for them though, but they still only produce grey(?)-skinned tougher humans. Koloss spikes are still necessary to mutate them into full Koloss with the skin and junk. The koloss-blood features in the children might be from the alterations or the spikes like inquisitors potentially passing their grafted allomantic sDNA. Spiritual magic GMOs are an amusing topic, I'll admit.

Speculation: Selay and Natans are Human-Aimian hybrids
natc replied to ecohansen's topic in Stormlight Archive
Well, humans can't transform for one. Even Rlain is still fine while locked into Warform, I doubt a stormspren can just force themselves onto a person that can't bond them and morph in the first place. It's like how demigods in myth are still basically mortals, except a bit more awesome and more friends (and enemies) upstairs. They have Listener blood, their anatomical weirdness and WoB says as much, but they're mostly human. Especially after who knows how many desolations. In fact, weren't Unkalaki originally persecuted according to Rock's story? Maybe it was the early days when everybody still knew where they came from. -
Yeah, that's another thing I picked up on. Present Wax is one of the best coinshots depicted so far, being able to control the push enough to hold something against a table without pushing the table away. Most people can't maintain or precisely control push intensity, IIRC. Even for breaking falls coinshots usually use multiple strong pushes instead of controlled deceleration. Past Wax is like, absolutely terrible at every skill he ends up being infamously good at. It's hilarious.

Alloy of Law was a writing exercise that accidentally became a book. Shadows of Self was its sequel, but in taking a break to write something else he wrote another warmup exercise to get back into the mood and then realized he wound up finishing Bands of Mourning, the sequel of Shadows of Self. That fact about Mistborn had always amused me.
-
He then winds up the best of the best, and all this urging to improve his shooting skills got to the point where he can hit bullets out of the air and into someone at an angle with a second bullet. Determined guy.

Mental disorders generally vary on a spectrum in terms of intensity anyway. She's got the signs, but they don't seem to be at the point of being extremely detrimental. Bremen, surviving out thete is pretty much the primary motivation of every organism in existence. That humans care about anything else at all is kind of an anomaly.

Burning a metalmind should produce a perfectly functional allomantic effect though, otherwise independent of feruchemy. I'm iffy on something so feruchemy-reliant.

Favourite character of Elantris
natc replied to missionaryofgod's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
Hrathen arrived intending to become the savior of Arelon. And he did. He would've never imagined how it happened, but oh he totally did. -
They're all in service of Harmony now right? It's not above them to break rules, just look at HoA, but being spiked up they can't really get away with anything major unnoticed.

Well, think about it. The thing weakens drastically upon reaching Shinovar, yet it's always at full force when it returns. It implies, even if there is only one storm, that there is something that pumps the force up at every cycle. So Stormfather can probably manipulate them directly. He could be making a second storm, or maybe whatever it is he does at the origin just doesn't normally happen during the Weeping on light years. And the "storm" is actually still in motion. Just babbling really. What I'm now wondering is what keeps the Everstorm going after it passes Shinovar's mountains from the opposite direction.

This might be the clearest description of Mist manifestation yet?

We don't know if Kandra can mate anymore though. The entire system got redone just to make koloss fertile, even though they are human. Kandra mostly seem the same as mistwraiths but then again they just look like translucent . . . stuff.
-
Maybe the southern civilization has koalas and such? Being the land to the far south was what the name Australia was meant to represent anyway. Antarctica just wound up beating Australia in south-ness.
-
But they're created from existing mistwraiths, which themselves are hemalurgically unaltered animals. We have no reason to believe the kandra actually needed to reproduce at all. The mistwraiths probably do, but hemalurgy doesn't factor into that.
-
No, we all knew it had mostly Earth-like creatures. Giraffes are expected. What shocked us is that a giraffe appears here of all places. The place that so far always sounded like a town out of an old western complete with saloons, gunfights, and that one lawman that just has to be where he shouldn't be. Evokes desert imagery. THAT place is actually anAfrican savannah. That's what's shocking.
-
Mistwraith reproduction has nothing to do with hemalurgy. Why bring it up?

Religion and magic---are they inextricably linked?

Not blaming her either. This began as a description of her atheism. -
I'm sure being superhumanly light relative to his size and density would take longer to get used to than, say, having gotten amputated. Which already takes a decent while.

Not a fan of where the whole Nico plot suddenly decided to go tbh. Was there a point to that?
