Random Stuff VII: The Admins Awaken
Young Bard replied to Young Bard's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
I was thinking about this at the tail end of the last thread. Also, note to Twi: J.J. Abrams isn't directing SW8. Rian Johnson is. -
Yes! I got here first! It's mine, all mine. My preciousssss... And, to start us off on this Bands release day:

Random Stuff VI The Return of the Admins

Yes, but where's the Admin? Random Stuff VIII: This had better be as Good as the Last Admin or Your New Admin is Jar-Jar Admin. -

The Admins Awaken... Talking of which, should the admins retroactively go back and change the titles of all the old ones? The Phantom Admin Attack of the Admins Revenge of the Admin A New Admin (looking at you, Voidus...) Random Stuff 7.5: Rogue Admin (just because the title for SW8 hasn't been announced yet.) -
I'll finish Bands first. If it hasn't been fixed up by then, I'll switch to a new ebook reader.

Random Stuff VI The Return of the Admins

Which type are you after, paperback or hardcover? I've seen worse for hardcover. Also, a lot of bookstores have it already in Sydney. So unless you're particularly dedicated to that bookstore (or live in a small town with only one bookstore), chances are you can find one with Bands of Mourning already on shelf. And I'm heading out now to pick it up. -

I've just had my copy of Bands reserved at the bookstore so I can pick it up this afternoon. So excited. -
Kurkistan is my vote.

The Official Thread of Relationships
Young Bard replied to Curious Anamaximder's topic in General Discussion
Only posting here to express my amusement that the relationships thread is 'hot'. -
It's weird. Looking it up, it's marked as January 30th in Australia, and February 7th in the US. Weird. (This is on Amazon. Where did you get it, Shardbearer?)

Random Stuff VI The Return of the Admins
Young Bard replied to Zathoth's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
First world problems: I want to get both Bands of Mourning and Secret History. However, the bookstore and the Post Office (which sells those temporary credit cards that I use for online shopping) are in exactly opposite directions. Both are also just within walking distance, meaning it will be touch and go on whether I can get a lift (it will probably depend on whether Mum needs groceries, tbh). So, I need to walk to the bookstore, pick up Bands, walk all the way back almost right past my house in the opposite direction, pick up the temporary credit card, go home, and purchase Secret History. Not the worst thing ever, particularly since I get 2 Sanderson stories out of it, but I'm feeling lazy, and it's interfering with my hermit lifestyle. -

Also, are the admins taking rosters for being online? There's almost never someone on at this time of day/night (depending on where you are), but I've seen 3 different mods log on and off as the evening's gone by. (It could also be the release party. Is that over yet?) -

Was the explanation about Voidus being a mod ever get released? Or, for that matter, the upvote / downvote official post? -
You made it to May? I only made it to February... Mind you, I've never been a planner, which I think everyone on the panel except Dan is. EDIT: When did they touch-up the website? I haven't been on in a while, but did just now and they've really done a remake.

Is it too much of a spoiler to ask the era for Secret History? Tangential HoA spoilers: Disclaimer: I have not read Bands or Secret History at the time of writing this.

They're all closed today anyway. Except Hurstville Westfield QBD, but I haven't checked whether they have any in stock. -

Slight nitpick: Donkey voting is when you have, say, 6+ candidates, and someone just goes down them in order just because he knows nothing about the candidates. For Senate votes, these are discarded (House of Representative votes have fewer parties, and therefore it is much more likely someone will legitimately do this. (For the Americans wondering why anyone would do this, voting in Australia is compulsory. So you have to vote even if you have no interest in politics. The one you're describing is just an ineligible vote. Common mistake. (Sorry, I'm a bit of a politics nerd.) Also, in a Democratic Party election, there is no way I would vote for Clinton. Too right wing. Also, for those cynics about Government, you have to watch a series called Yes, Minister. It's a British TV show from the 80's, but it is absolutely brilliant, and equally relevant today. And the politics nerd studies the board: Bloomberg is just in New York according to this. So, max, he takes one state away (one fairly important state, but one state.) Trump, however, intends to launch a national campaign. So, he could win 2-3 of the most right wing countries. So Cruz, already a very right wing candidate, (At a guess, I'll put Cruz in for the Republican winner.) will lost several of the Republican homeland states, which is what he would need. Victory to Berlary Clinders. (Guessing Clinton here, but want it to be Sanders, so ) The other Republicans, to be perfectly honest, aren't all that much better than Trump. Every single Republican nominee has vowed to remove Obamacare, possibly the best move Obama's made this entire time. Now, people can actually go to the doctor even if they can't afford the bill so they can get the treatment they need. -

Hmmm... maybe an Australian Sharder meet-up seperately? America's a bit far for me... EDIT: Although, looking at the map, we only have 9 active Australian Sharders (who have told me their location). We'd be lucky to get a third of them to any sort of meet-up, so... 3 people. -

Morzathoth, Sheep has unseated you as the person who has the most terrifying thought on the Shard.
