Random Stuff VIII: The Admin Special
Young Bard replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Forsooth, I know not how thou couldst consider such a notion. For I am but a humble man of a mere six and ten years, living in a far yonder land known as Australia.- 1963 replies

Rate the Signature Above You!!

Good, but with a slight overload of colour. Some of those things sound interesting (now I want to know what the "Historic Intro Thread Fight" is), and yet there are no links for outsiders of the joke to get the reference. Some jokes, an fairly inconspicuous ad for the Reckoners RP, and an espoused theory, again without a link. 7/10 EDIT: Do you know how to make a link without typing out the URL? Highlight the text you want to link, click on the link button on the bar, and add the URL there. -

I remember him saying that his publishers were worried about him putting it online, to which he responded "Yeah - but people could alays get it for free at the library anyway". I think he said that the change in sales "was not significant". Another thing to consider was that it had been announced that he would finish the WoT series by this point, which meant that there was suddenly a much larger group of readers who'd heard about him and therefore wanted to read his books, which also made it more difficult to tell the impact. Does that help at all? I basically gave you an in-depth "I don't know."

I didn't know it was meant to be a trilogy. I mean, there was obviously meant to be a sequel with the ending plot hook, but do you have a source? Words of Radiance Spoilers: EDIT: Fixed spoiler tag.

At this stage, I think I'm probably going to get it, but I haven't settled my mind on the issue. I'm curious what others intend to do. Pros: Looks cool. I liked the story last time. Cons: I already knows what's going to happen. Graphic novels have never been my favourite media form. I don't know where I'd buy it, as my regular bookshop doesn't stock graphic novels.

I know for a fact that the Sydney Theatre Company uses a sugary paste that's extremely sweet. At least, it was when I last tried it. I did a tour of the Sydney Theatre Company once...- 1963 replies

It's so weird... It's showing up Mestiv made the last post at 7:07 Sydney Time today (about 5 hours ago), and yet I can't help feeling I read it last night. Also, I'd like to make a post for Gregory, but it has a fair amount of godmodding in it for what I'm trying to do. I might PM it to Honor, Mistrunner and Elodin first just to double check there are no problems.

What did you hate about WoW? And, on the flip side of the coin, what do you like about GW2?

Up to date. Sorry for the delay. Hopefully there won't be so large a gap next time.

Sorry I've abandoned this for a while, I'll try and get back on top of it. I think we've lost a lot of our forward movement - no-one's posted in a fortnight. Any suggestions?

You beat me to saying exactly this by about 20 seconds. As an occasional lurker, it amuses me. "Collaborative Writing Project" sounds like you're writing a book series together, instead of a casual RP. I mean, if WHIO: The Book ever came out, I'd buy a million copies and litter the streets with it to watch peoples brains explode, but unfortunately, I could only imagine that glorious day.- 1963 replies

This would be a good time to give shape to the ineffective OH&S teacher. I think they'd work as a great NPC, but I'll just give a character profile for them here anyway. Name: Penelope Clearwater (maybe not, the more I think about it. This is subject to change, if anyone has better ideas.) Personality: Obsessed with 'safety' for the students. Is famous at Hogwarts for trying to set a rule for a maximum flying height of 15 feet in the previous school year (and failing miserably). She's viewed with a mixture of comedy and abject terror. House, Appearence, etc: Should be in the link. She's a character from the original series.

I just realized... Wizard computers = HAL 9000 EDIT: On Voidus's Google Doc, there's a list with all of the PC's and NPC students (though nobody's done teachers yet.) Here's the link, if you want it. Also, do you mind if I add a member of staff that's a (completely ineffective) OH&S worker at Hogwarts? I think he'd make a great comic character. He tries to bring in 'safety measures', like a flying height cap of 15 feet, which then completely flops. (Because seriously, safety has never seemed to be of high importance to the teachers or students at Hogwarts.)

Around the Cosmere: RPs and Social Groups News For March
Young Bard commented on Voidus's article in Columns and Features
Perhaps for Owls and Wands and the Skyrim RP you should have the link direct them to the OOC page, seeing as that's where they'll want to sign up/ask questions? -

I will. Thanks! I actually wouldn't mind some help, if you're interested. Creating my own. A few might be satirical/head-nods in some way to something already existing, though.

Yeah, whenever I write sci-fi, I usually do this, and then give it to a friend who actually understands all the fancy terms and ask him what doesn't make sense. He'll jot a few notes down, I fix it, and go on. It's not that difficult. Even if you don't have personal experience, find someone who does. It's not that hard.

I found out about a couple months ago, looking through an old photo album that my mother did a cosplay character for a film she went to see back in the 70's. As possibly the person least likely in the world to do cosplay, I was astounded. It seemed like one of those things she would consider 'silly' and 'nerdy' (and then she has a child who's addicted to ridiculously long epic fantasy series and plays Magic: The Gathering. Go figure.) Apparently, she also read LotR in her youth, as well, so I suppose I have to have some respect for whoever she was back then. Such a shame that she turned away from all that when she got older. I haven't done any cosplay yet, but I'd love to someday (which will probably be after I move out of home, tbh.) A mistborn seems like a good place to start, not too difficult, easily recognizable (for those who've read the books). Maybe from there, I can work up to something steampunky, because I've seen some awesome steampunk cosplay out there.- 1963 replies

Yes. I've seen several variations of this name around. I'll try and dig some up to prove my point. EDIT: I can't ind them now, but from memory, there was Asyldin, Aslydyn, Aslidyn, etc.
