Dude, calm down. It's just a downvote. The rep systems doesn't matter in any way. I gave you an upvote to counter it. You know, Nightblood might be the one sure way to kill Hoid. Since it is a safe bet that Hoid's "immortality" is due to magic systems and their combined usage, draining him of his Investiture is potentially the only surefire way to kill him. Even Sprenblades pose him no threat. It would be interesting if he ever gets the chance to hold Nightblood. Outside of not being affected by the nausea, I'm not sure how that would go down. I'm confidant he wouldn't want to unsheath it, though.

Answers to whether you'll get answers are in bold after the questions within the quote box above. Yeah, Brandon revealed that the J's sound like Y's in an interview/Q&A at some point. Pronunciation is interesting, even if I disagree with it from the standpoint of only reading the novels

Words of Radiance Spoilers: More WoR spoilers:
-
It probably sounds like RAFO bait becuase it's been RAFO'd in the past. Just a heads up.
-
Nicrosil compounders might be able to wield Nightblood indefinitely with no inherent danger to themselves, so long as they sheath him before running out of investiture. That is assuming Feruchemical nicrosil works the way we presume it does.

This is too easy. Sal sat crouched in a bush, watching the herd of gazelle as they approached the river. The water had calmed by this point of its trek, lapping up against the bank softly. The animals were wary of predators lurking beneath the surface, which would make a kill easier than usual. They were usually really easy. As a hunter of Theron, Sal was the best of the best, he could probably hunt in his sleep if he tried. Don't get complacent now. The warning was welcome, but not necessary. Sal was fully engulfed in the hunt, his predatory instincts taking over his body. He lifted his bow and took aim. Feeling the breeze on his skin, his enhanced sense of touch told him the exact speed of the wind, and he shifted his aim appropriately. All else was still around him, the world falling away as Sal's focus locked into place. He would eat well tonight. Hunting is usually a gamble. Often times things don't go quite according to plan, and the hunter is left empty handed. As such, being a tremendous hunter, though improving one's chances greatly, does not mean one can account for everything. Sal didn't account for the heavy rains this area had experienced for the last week or so. On this day, the sky was still a dark gray, clearly more rain was coming. It was currently not raining, though, but the land was wet. The grass glistened, the dirt near the river was moist, and the canyons on the other side of the river were stained, the forrests at their tops dark from the rain as well. As Sal was about to release his arrow, the air trembled as a chunk of the canyon accross the river ripped out of the wall, plummeting to the water below. The herd panicked and began to flee. Sal responded immediately, dropping his bow and arrow, taking off at a sprint towards the herd. He ripped his knife from it's leather sheath at his waist. Normally, no human could keep up with a pack of gazelle. Sal, though, had the power of Enhanced Physical Prowess and Abilities. His muscles pumped him at speeds most men would never know. He weaved between the herd until he found his target. Most predators target the old, or the sick, as those animals are easier to kill, increasing the chances of the hunt's success. That was not the case for the Theronosus tribe. Sal focused in on a strong male in the middle of the herd, which was beginning to stampede at the increased threat of Sal. That didn't matter though, Sal just needed to get this stag on the outside of the herd to avoiding being trampled. Sal positioned himself beside the male, and began slowly moving towards him. As expected, the stag bolted in the opposite direction, and Sal followed. Once the stag broke the edge of the herd, the rest fo the gazelle broke away from Sal, which played right into his hands. It was now just he and the stag, running side by side. Sal slowed a little and then leaped, knife brandished in his hand. Tackling the male gazelle, it was a matter of moments before the beast was dead. ---------------------------------------- The food felt great in his stomach. Sal always enjoyed the spoils of a successful hunt. He had taken the beast back to his campsite, recovering his bow along the way, and cooked the meat. He'd eat as much as he could so he could survive the longest in the event of no other kills, make use of the various parts of the beast that he could, and then drag the carcass away from his camp for the scavengers. He'd probably need to wash himself off at the river as well. Do you intend to stay in the grasslands for long? "I see no reason to leave." You are the product of Nomadic culture. You will leave. It is in your blood. "Perhaps that is true. There is food near the river though. More so than on the plains to the south." There is also danger here. "Then perhaps I may die sooner than I had hoped." Your jokes aren't funny. You would wish death upon me? Sal sighed. "Of course not. You are the reason I killed today." Sal threw a chunk of meat into the fire, a gesture thought to supply Theron with food, a form of sacrifice to worship his god. The divine being went silent for a while at that, as if showing respect to the small ritual. Sal looked to the south. Though it was true these grasslands held more foor for him than the plains did, he was truly more afraid of confronting the memories of his tribe than he was of starvation. Theron was right, though. The river held dangers he didn't face in the plains. The boulder falling from the canyon wall today was evidence of that. He feared going north as well, though, for it would mean navigating the forest. Sal shivered at the thought. He hoped it never came to that.

I'm going to disagree with you. We know next to nothing of Seventeenth Shard. In fact, the only information on them from the books is the two letters in Stormlight Archive. From WoBs, the only additional information we have is that the three gents from the Purelake Interlude are members, and the Ars Arcana author is a member. We actually, to my knowledge, don't have word of whether Nazh is a member or not, just that he is working for the Ars Arcana author, and as such many of us 17th Sharders have assumed he's therefore a member of Seventeenth Shard. Moreover, we don't know the inner workings of the organization. Is there a power struggle between two factions? Is the Ars Arcana author writing about these worlds, and employing Nazh, as a personal job or a hobby? This would mean they don't care about Hoid's doings. What is the knowledge level of each individual member of Seventeenth Shard? You mentioned that you expect each member to have basic knowledge of Hoid and be able to see-through his disguises, but can they? We don't actually know. As for Nazh and Hoid, I'm still not convinced. Though everyone knows the King has a Wit, the Wits change all the time, as is mentioned in WoK. Hoid just happens to be the most recent Wit, and the characters who interact with him think he's a bit more over the top than the run of the mill Wit. Anyone without direct access to the Wit or his predecessors would have no idea if he's more crazy than usual. Given Nazh only observes, he doesn't interact, I think it is completely reasonable to think he's never been in the general vicinity of Wit. In fact, the only time the characters really interact with Wit in any way is at those parties, which is something I would think Nazh would avoid (unless I'm forgetting something from the books). As a bit of a nitpick, I wouldn't call Wit a part of the Kholin entourage. He's really never around, ever. Almost every time one of the characters runs into him, they comment on how they never see him. In addition, I don't think Hoid's disguises are as easy to pierce as you think they are. Siri's comment that you bring up is that she feels he's acting older than he really is...but Hoid is older than he was acting. WAY older. If anything, I would say that Hoid's "act" included seeming like he was younger than he was portraying. That would be just like Hoid. Also, if Hoid knows Seventeenth Shard is looking for him, and he has knowledge that the three Purlake Interluders are members, if Nazh is a member I would think he knows and would have either done something about it already, mentioned it in the letter, or intentionally avoid Nazh all together. That all being said, to each his own. You're welcome to your opinion, I'm welcome to mine.

Exactly. A law suit is a bit drastic if Manetheren is just posturing. The fact that they went so far as a law suit tells me they have all the documentation I talked about. The question then becomes why Harriet would make a post with false information. Being an editor I highly doubt she's unaware of the legal consequences. So did she really not know Universal's claim ended last year around now? Even having gone to meet Sony and Radar employees regarding the matter? It's a very cloudy situation right now, and we barely have any information. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out, though I've got a sinking feeling it's not going to go well for Harriet.

I won't tell you which novel then. Honestly if you don't want to be spoiled I'd stop browsing this site and coppermind and really anything Sanderson related until you read the rest of them. Once you've read all the Cosmere related novels, if you didn't figure it out everyone loves telling people about it. As for Kaladin, I might be wrong too, it's been a while since I read WoR (and I only read it once). I remember Kaladin thinking about it though when he does it. Edit: Zahel appears in the following Chapters: 16, 18, 25, 26, I-6, 35, 41, 44, 52, 55, 56, 57, 66, 68, 81, 82, and 86. The arena battle occurs accross chapters 56 and 57. Edit 2: I just read the scene where Kaladin catches the blade. He definitely does not think about it, he just does it.

It could easily be explained by poor timing, and that they just miss each other (Nazh and Hoid). It could also be that Nazh doesn't know what Hoid looks like (any or all of Hoid's disguises). Also remember the sheer size of the Alethi camps at the Shattered Plains. It's very possible that even if Nazh and Hoid were there at the same time, they would never see each other. Honestly I'd be surprised if they did run into each other.

Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
Blaze1616 replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Granted, you're given three wheel barrel's full of single Rupees. Your curse? Rupees are no longer an accepted form of currency, anywhere, and no exchanges will exchange them for other currencies. I wish my car's tires never needed changing (particularly in really cold weather). -
The weapons master's name is Zahel, though I do not know how the audiobook pronounces it. Do not search for him on Coppermind, though, because it is major spoilers if you plan on reading Brandon's other works, as the character is actually a "cameo." If you would like I can post here which chapters Zahel is in so you don't have to search for it on the audiobook. And didn't that scene involve Kaladin specifically thinking that he needed to use the Last Clap maneuver?

Your All-Time Favorite Superhero/Supervillian
Blaze1616 replied to Fatebreaker's topic in General Discussion
Yes, but his combat is much more agility oriented. That is relatively rare among comic heroes. -

Granted. He shall only speak using alliteration though. I wish I had powers to heal people. -

Welcome to the forum! Which novel of Brandon's was your favorite? -
I thought the same thing, about the "informing" in a way that it is misunderstood. The problem with that possibility, though, is that Harriet went to their offices to discuss this, according to Manetheren. Moreover, she brought her attorney with her. I would like to think the attorney in charge of WoT has some wits and brains about them, no? Her forgetting is totally possible, depending on how much interaction she had with her assistan/attorney prior to making the post. Retracting her statement would hopefully solve the issue, though Manetheren could ask for some "small" fee in addition to the retraction and an apology as a settlement for the law suit. In all technicallity, assuming Manetheren has documentation for everything in the "facts" list, she actually can't say negative things about the production without breaking the agreement. I was merely stating that the production being crappy plays no role in the law suit.

Alright, so as someone who has never read WoT, nor did I watch this pilot, nor do I have any vested interest in the subject matter, thus making me an unbiased third party, here is what I have to say: Note: it is long... With all that said, now that I've acquainted myself to the situation, I'm rooting for Harriet. I hope Manetheren has no documentation, and that she gets to sue them for every penny they are worth. Worst case scenario? Harriet has alzheimer's...or there's a second set of documents showing Universal has rights, and Bandersnatch sold rights to two different companies, which means they are in for a whole new world of hurt, legally speaking (sued by two companies, rather than just one, for large sums of money no doubt).

3 of Scott's ex's are in the movie. This question can be answered if you've only ever watched the movie (which is why I changed the question)

My personal opinion is that the Stormfather isn't a spren. As a result, he cannot take a weapon form, nor can he appear physically. The Stormfather did exist before Honor was splintered. It was in a recent Q&A, I'll try to find it for you. Edit: Not complete verification, but here you go: source Seeing as Cultivation is still alive and unshattered while the Nightwatcher is kickin', it is a reasonable conclusion that the Stormfather was still around when Honor was alive and whole as well. As an additional note, I feel like we've got another WoB that more specifically addresses this, but I cannot find it.

I hate rain. It was an odd thought, considering how wonderful the gift of water from the heavens was, how it sustained life. It also made one miserable, though. Sal's clothes were soaked, and the water had saturated his skin, now running off his chin like it would a leaf. Would it ever stop? You hate everything. The voice was in his head. Always in his head. The voice of a god. The voice of a friend. "I do not," Sal mumbled. Having Theron as a constant companion was a boon and a bane, two sides of the same leaf. On one side, he always had a second opinion. On the other, he always had a second opinion. It took a while to get used to it, for Sal had not been a shaman of his tribe, and until that fateful day, his head had only been occupied by one person. I am pretty confidant you do. Be sure to avoid entering the forest. Sal looked to his left, a great forest looming a short distance away, the sound of stampeding water accompanying it. He had been tracking a herd of gazelle along the forest's edge for a few days now. As they neared the river, he would strike. An adult gazelle would be a good meal, and he'd have a good two weeks or so to get another kill. The forest always gave him chills. Being unable to see the sky, how did one navigate? How did one breath, with tress packed tight around you? Not to mention the creatures within. He had hunted boar a few times during his three lives, but they were some of the more tame creatures. A raindrop beat into his eye, causing him to flinch. "Maybe I wouldn't hate it so much if it would rain in the areas I'm traveling to, rather than the area I am currently in." You'd still hate that it made the ground muddy. Sal grunted. True enough.

Yes, I saw there was a disease tribe, but I somehow missed them being based in the mountains. My apologies Winter. I'm going to try to change the disease bit, and am currently liking the idea of herbs/poison, to keep to the theme for the characters. I'll post new bios once I iron everything out. Sorry once again, Winter! Edit: Names will change too, as most of them were Latin or Greek for illness, disease, sick, etc.

Dang, you got me. Would you like a bead? The references to time periods was for non-magical technology levels. So saying 1980's era would mean that they had 1980's tech, and therefore FTL would not be possible.
