Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
Blaze1616 replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Granted, though I too shall take a page from Fate/Zero: the town you currently reside in blows up, leaving no survivor but you and your father. Even though it wasn't granted in Fate/Zero. I wish for mayo. -
Having a Bad Day? Stop here for a Good Rant!
Blaze1616 replied to traceria's topic in General Discussion
I'm sorry to hear that. Sometimes people would rather allow someone else to be in an uncomfortable situation than to put themselves there instead. Here's a hug. *hug* -
Well, considering Warbreaker is your only unread Cosmere world, you can go just about anywhere on the site. I'd still caution much browsing because Warbreaker's magic system is very encompassing (for lack of a better word) and seems to pop up in a lot of discussions. Also you still won't fully understand some of the common jokes that get said casually until you get most of the way through Warbreaker. Honestly, in terms of partaking in the forums, Warbreaker would be the first/fourth book you should have read (either before or after Mistborn), followed by the Stormlight Archive, then Elantris. Regardless, I hope you enjoy Warbreaker. It's my favorite Cosmere novel!

Steelheart - Calamity seems much like a 'shard' to me

I cannot find it for the life of me, and it is super frustrating, because I'm definitely not mistaking it with the Rithmatist WoB you posted. -

I read somewhere, in the bellies of the internet, that when Brandon sat down to write Reckoners, he originally planned it to be Cosmere. At some point down the road he changed it because he didn't want Earth, in any form, in the Cosmere. So much of his planning happened with him in the mindset of writing a Cosmere novel. I can't find where I read that. -
I thought it was mentioned that they do all their soulcasting at night because soulcasting makes the populace uncomfortable, and so doing it at night means others don't have to watch while going about their days.

All right. I apologize for my absence, I don't have the time to sign on during weekends. Should've thought of that. So here's your answer: 1. John Michael Dorian 2. Christopher Duncan Turk 3. Elliot Reid 4. Carla Espinosa 5. Perry Ulysses Cox 6. Robert Kelso 7. Glen Matthews (The Janitor) 8. Theodore Buckland 9. Jordan Sullivan 10. Todd Quinlan 11. Laverne Roberts 12. Doug Murphy That's the main and minor characters from season 1. Season 9 brings a whole slew of new main and minor characters, not to mention all the minor characters added across the 8 seasons. So to ask a new question that I know someone will get, name six ponies from MLP:FiM that are not the mane six, nor Canterlot royalty.

I could have sworn that Wax actually mentions this in the book. How he can't deflect, but he can alter the path of the bullet, so when he creates a pushing "bubble" around him he's merely hoping to send bullets on slightly altered paths, hopefully missing him and/or his vital organs. I could have sworn it is in the book.

Granted. You get a D, but at least you passed. Edit: A D on the classic American grading scale. Otherwise known as a 2.0 in the 4.0 grading scale. I wish I could fast forward through time whenever I wanted, with control over when I stop. -
Okie dokie. Thanks.

And Hotlanta sounds like a joke...

Right, which is why I refrained from further discussion. As Snoopy notes, one possibility is that it stores both potential and kinetic, but the problem there is why, when tapping, can it only be used for speed? It is possible that by sitting still, with no motion, a Feruchemist can store "speed" at its maximum rate. Or perhaps what Sazed is really doing is trying to flail his body around, but by storing he does not actually move. I forget if that scene of him storing just about everything was from his PoV or someone else's. If it was Sazed's PoV, it would be odd for it to not be brought up, if that were the case. It is also possible that he's storing kinetic energy via the natural workings of the body, be it a cellular, molecular, or even atomic level. I find this highly unlikely though.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Blaze1616 replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
That's because the Scadrian language sounds like French. -
Out of curiosity, do you just try a bajillion different combinations until it works, or is there an actual way to look it up?

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Blaze1616 replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I've yet to use an audiobook. I'm too afraid pronunciations will throw me off. My friends have always criticized me for my pronunciations. Example: The name Eliwood. Most people's pronunciation: EL-ih-wood. A short "I" sound. My pronunciation: EL-iy-wood: A long "I" sound. So when it comes to fantasy names, I just don't even risk it. Particularly once I found out how Elantris pronunciations worked. -
Thanks a bunch!

According to his profile feed, his anxiety kicked in. Poor guy. Maybe send him a PM reminding him that, once he's back in the groove of things, we miss him? So he doesn't forget altogether?

...you need to read New 52 Aquaman Issue #1...

Also, you should use spoiler tags around your post, as we are in the Stormlight Archive forum, not the Mistborn one.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Blaze1616 replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I guess it does depend on pronunciation. I always pronounced it oo-ree-th-eer-oo. Totes symmetrical. Though I guess Rosharans use the letter h for any other letter, so it would be pronounced oo-ree-tt-eer-oo...then again the th sound could be its own letter...so yeah -
It bugs me too. I've had a thought before that Feruchemical steel doesn't actually store "speed," but instead kinetic energy. To me, this sounds like a good set of questions for Brandon *coughChicagoSigningTodaycough* I can't really contribute further to this discussion, as I think we just don't have enough knowledge on the science behind Feruchemical steel yet (which is weird, given it's the fMetal we've seen the most other than Feruchemical tin).

Hey, I need a little help with the annotaion reference template. I've got a few things that are cited in the warbreaker annotations, but some of them are in the part 2 or part 3 of the given chapter. I know the annotation ref works like this: {{annotation ref|wb|chapter=X}} but that will always link to Part 1. How do I link to part 2 or 3? I've tried: {{annotation ref|wb|chapter=X|part=2}} {{annotation ref|wb|part=2|chapter=X}} {{annotation ref|wb|2|chapter=X}} {{annotation ref|wb|chapter=X|2}} None of those have worked. Thanks for the help.

I distinctly remember reading that Brandon RAFO'd a question along the lines of whether Surgebinding consumed heat. I cannot find it though. Figures So perhaps I was mistaken.

Technically, if the system worked the way it is meant to, downvotes should be more common, as you would use it to show displeasure in a post (whether you thought they were rude, or you disagreed, etc.). As you say, that is not how it works. I've posted about this before, too. I think it is a bad thing that we treat downvotes as hostile attacks. Oh well, it is what it is, eh? You bring up a good point, an Elantrian's Elantrian-ness is just the Dor flowing out through them. As such, Nightblood would be draining the Dor itself. I wonder just how much investiture the Dor holds? Does it constantly replenish at a rate fast enough to counteract Nightblood's increasing consumption rate? Is it theoretically possible for it to run out? So many questions... Though we do know Hoid can heal himself with Feruchemical gold, so physical wounds pose him no harm, I agree with you. To my knowledge, immortality in the Cosmere is more about not aging than it is about surviving a gaping wound in your chest.
-
Which is a major shame. It would be so interesting to see how the different investitures interract with the sword. Would Nightblood consume metals in your stomach when you don't burn them, similar to burning aluminum? If one were an Elantrian, would holding Nightblood drain that? This then begs the question of whether you revert to a Reod Elantrian, or do you revert to not being an Elantrian? So many cool answers could be had from other people holding Nightblood...
