  1. When discussing populations, we have to remember that nearly all of our towns/cities will have higher numbers than normal. The Dalles is run by vanillas, for vanillas. Salem has a large population. Corvallis would have a large population as well due to both he need to fulfill the necessary jobs (loads of farming, serving, etc.) and simply because of immigration. Astoria would be in a similar situation. If anything, I'd argue that our locations would all have fared better than Newcago, plus they are nearly all desired destinations for refugees of other cities. My lack of Portland knowledge probably bleeds through this post... Time for Corvallis talk! We seem to have an issue of timing now. My last post was around 8:00 in the morning. Blackhoof's post seems to have been earlier than that. Mestiv's post spanned the time between 11:30 am and 1:00 pm. Blackhoof, due to my Buttercup post having been at 8:00, are you okay with your timing having been around 7:30? That way it would be feasible for her to see to Converter's make-shift prison before getting the call. I was also curious as to what the final ghoul count was? Did Iconoclast shift anyone new, or is it just the 10 (as one died) or 9, if the one who attacked Pyrotouch died too? Mestiv, you skipped a lot of in game time with that post, which is fine, but might mean it'll take some IRL time to catch up to you. Comatose still hasn't made a Rainmaker post yet, and there's a fair number of other users who haven't posted anything new yet either (the Gleeman, The Honey Badger, Voidus, Edgedancer, 18th Shard, Mailliw, Tyson, mail-mi, and TheSilverDragon). I guess my point is that it might be a while before we catch up to you, but man, that was a good post. I love the image of Argon eating pie nonchalantly while three Epics try to kill each other.
  2. I marathoned it one week, and I found it to be excellent.
  3. Plus, at that point, wouldn't you be making more of a lifeless, Type II entity rather than a Type III?
  4. Well there would be some form of screening prior to the bubble dropping, after which, assuming the individual passes, you'd simply await the bubble drop. Once it does drop, the group allowed to enter would get escorted in and gathered into a location similar to a town square, where either Rainmaker would show up in person to welcome them, or a video feed of her doing so would show up. After that the vanillas would get their assignments and be tagged by Chase, while Epics would receive keys and directions to their new homes, and are likely interviewed by Buttercup (particularly if they choose to work for the government). To delve a little into the screening process, I would imagine the first question is "Are you an Epic? Yes or No." Answering yes pretty much guarantees you entrance, and follow up questions would involve things like, "Would you like to work for the government?" and "Do you have any preference of what your vanilla servants are like?" Answering no to the original question would result in a different set of follow ups, likely involving allergy lists, handicaps, and physical health. Of course this all goes out the window if you enter on your own, away from the "Checkpoints". And I don't think you can "mess up," considering it's a free form RPG. We're all here to have fun.
  5. People dislike Moribito? Why? What was there to dislike?
  6. Heya Mestiv! Awesome first post! I'm really excited for Argon to get in on the action in the city. Some things to keep in mind: - The shield is a 9 mile radius with origin at the OSU campus - Easiest "legal" entrances are along the highway leading to Philomath, the 99W, and within Albany and Tangent (two towns separated by the edge of the shield. -Obviously you can sneak in (since you're on the NW side) through the McDonald-Dunn Forest (it's not like they can patrol the entire circumference). -Bubble drops around noon, to my knowledge, and stays down for roughly 15-30 minutes to allow people to travel in/out. Once again welcome!
  7. I don't want to double up on an idea already present in a thread, and it sounds like there's already a not-Epic-Epic in Salem?
  8. A quick google search identified a handful. They are in the following cities (in order of "quality" high to low): Salem, Portland, Corvallis, and Pendleton (which has been permanently closed). I found that funny, that tehy all correspond to cities we've used, though I suppose it should be expected since we've now pretty much Epicified all the major cities.
  9. That was my first thought, an Epic keeping him/her around due to the hilarity. This could potentially be more humorous if the character simply has Cotard's delusion rather than the Epic delusion. I'm gonna put some more thought into it though.
  10. Right. I'm currently trying to think of why the Epics of whichever location I place the vanilla in would bother keeping him/her around. Though Cotard's makes the Epics more likely to dispatch the poor soul, I feel like vanilla characters staying alive is always an issue, given Epics' tendencies towards desiring power, being overall selfish, and experiencing no guilt for their actions once the corruption sets in.
  11. I see. I was considering having the vanilla think they have invisibility powers, with a slightly altered version of the Cotard delusion.
  12. All right, I'm thinking of making a vanilla character who thinks (s)he is an Epic. Has this been done before/brought up before?

    Awesome! Congrats again!
  14. Well the creation of Nightblood was only ~300 years before the events of Warbreaker, so if Warbreaker occurs anywhere near Stormlight Archive then it couldn't be a Herald (which I was under the impression this was the case).
  15. Thanks for the WoB. Its a very odd situation, and Brandon's insistence on not giving away information, to the point of him correcting people who assume it's Taln, just adds to the oddity. Perhaps Hoid was there due to the novelty. The conversation he was having with the guards about someone performing a feat independently of, but after, someone else; could he be alluding to this not being Taln, and as a result when Taln gets there his pleas will fall on deaf ears? Though this "Taln's" pleas have also fallen on deaf ears, so... Edit: @ParadoxSpren, perhaps he's calling the burden that which is more than what he would have recieved otherwise. He would have recieved his own torture already, but now he must make up for nine others as well.

I have a legit question. A few weeks back there were some promotions on this site among the moderating and admin teams. Were you promoted from Global Moderator to an Admin? I congratulated Weiry on his promotion, but I honestly didn't notice you were an admin until about ten minutes ago, and I cannot remember if you used to be a moderator or not. So if you did get promoted, congrats! If not, then........yeah....
  17. I agree that Honorblades are functionally a subset of the term Shardblades, given the usage of the term and understanding/knowledge of the current average Rosharan. They simply don't know that an Honorblade is any different, unless they actually use one, or are Shin or more knowledgeable. In terms of actuality, though, I'm not convinced they are a subset. Thanks for the WoB!
  18. I actually finished a reread of WoK last night, and in the Epilogue, the text even references him as "The man who had named himself a Herald." It's as if Brandon was hoping we'd question the identity, rather than accepting it at face value. I find the whole thing odd. It makes me wonder if he wants us questioning identities; perhaps someone else is masquerading as a Herald. Are we confident that the man at the end of WoK, and the man in WoR, are the same? Is it possible the man got swapped as well as the Blade? That would explain the Blade's swap too, though I find it to be an unlikely scenario.
  19. A random thought just occurred to me; what if Breath was used instead of Stormlight because Stormlight would run out? It doesn't perfectly attach, making breath the better option. Otherwise their hacked Shardblade would eventually die, returning to be a normal sword?
  20. That then leaves Warbreaker, Perfect State, Alloy of Law, Reckoners, Rithmatist, Alcatraz, and his other published short stories (most of which are on his website). After that you'll have read them all (unless you count WoT).
  21. I agree, the alternatives to the man being Taln seem unlikely. Working under the assumption that the Heralds know whether anyone else has joined them in their torture, Taln could have returned to Roshar angry, and sought out a Herald to send in his stead. That's just wild spit-balling though.
  22. Done.
  23. I suppose my parents were more reasonable? I don't mean that in a rude way, but merely bringing up the argument should not implicate you for anything. Though I suppose this is like refusing to let your car get searched without a warrant. It just makes you look guilty, even though it shouldn't...
  24. I disagree. WoR spoilers follow: Edit in the spoilers.
