  1. Yeah that was my second option.
  2. I find the UK covers very hit or miss. That one is a hit though.
  3. Yeah spren are static unless bonded to a human, which still doesn't change their basic nature, or unless something powerful tampers with them like Sja-anat and her "enlightening" business.
  4. People react to stress differently, what breaks one person might not break another person. And some people are just inherently prone to mental illness regardless of what happens to them due to genetic factors. Kaladin had issues with depression even when he was young though they were of course made worse by what happened to him. As for not realizing it, if somebody has had problems since they were very young they might not realize it's out of the ordinary because it's just normal for them. Or they could deny it (consciously or unconsciously) because of stigma against mental illness.
  5. I do not think stormlight literally provides oxygen, I think it sustains the body directly without the need for it.
  6. I'm not sure most of the Heralds are in a fit state to make that decision even if it can be done without Jezrien. Also, Taln deserves better.
  7. I've never been really happy with that theory either, and this post sums up part of why. I expect Odium to be dealt with in a more permanent way at least by the end of book 10.
  8. It's an interesting theory too, it just doesn't really fit with the metaphysics, as far as we understand them. Which admittedly, maybe isn't that far.
  9. Yeah, I think Kaladin and Shallan shouldn't even remotely be taken as the baseline for amount of brokeness you need to be a Radiant. Also Brandon has mplied there's other methods then brokenness such as maybe being "open" (or something like that) which might be how Lopen managed to bond a spren despite being apparently impervious to negative emotions. He just really really wanted it. That might also be how Adolin qualifies though I actually think he's got more issues then are immediately apparent and might qualify the "usual" way. And he definitely fits as an Edgedancer. I expect him to get along very well with Lift.
  10. I report a lot of them because I have odd and erratic sleeping hours.
  11. We know Shallan is one oath ahead of Kaladin, and that Windrunners at least get Plate at the fourth ideal, so it's very possible that Shallan actually did manifest Plate. Unfortunately her perspective in that scene is super unreliable narrator.
  12. Yeah there's quite a few missing details about Plate right now. We'll probably have to wait til book 4 to figure it out. No reason to let that stop us from speculating though.
  13. I feel like his trajectory in Secret History was leading towards Kelsier repudiating some of his more troublesome traits and growing into a better person. And even as he was in Final Empire, I don't feel like the Ghostbloods are his style.
  14. Hey there. I worry about looking like an idiot sometimes too, but really this is a very cool place and people are very nice most of the time. And if people get mean the mods usually step in pretty quickly.
  15. Conjoined twins with separate brains are separate people even if they share parts of their bodies. There's at least one real life set of conjoined twins that share almost an entire body but have fully separate heads and brains and fully separate personalities. They have a wikipedia page. So I imagine it would be theoretically possible for a set of conjoined twins to bond spren separately from each other.
  16. There's been non-zero intermarriage between groups so I suspect that some members of many if not all cultures have listener/singer blood at this point. The Horneaters and Herazians are the ethnic groups that universally have enough to be noticeable but I suspect a little exists in many people even if it isn't enough to be obvious.
  17. I suspect that that the unborn baby would be protected in the same way the Radiant is against that sort of thing so I don't think it would be a problem. It might agitate the baby and result in being kicked in the ribs but it probably wouldn't do any harm.
  18. Brandon has described Nightblood as a "robot spren".
  19. Yeah I strongly suspect Cultivation got involved in Lift's case, and somewhat less strongly suspect she got involved with Mr. T.
  20. Hi, be very cautious about the baked goods, and don't give away your Breath.
