Yeah, this particular type of Ruin is more the Spiritual kind... Welcome to the forum! Have some upvotes. I wouldn't eat that cookie if I were you, unless you're . . . dying to know more about the Cosmere's afterlife.

I like it! Haven't had a chance to read all the way through, but the magic seems very intriguing. Actually kinda similar to a concept I had a while back, but never flushed out. I also like what I've seen of Smirk so far. I've been looking for a project, some kind of starting point, for a little while. Think I could take a look at your notes and see if it's something I'd be interested in adopting?

I hadn't realized you'd already asked about that. Nice to get a confirmation, although I feel less original now. "Thinking with portals", that's quite a compliment. I'll make a point to read through the Chicago signing soon. Looks like there's some good stuff in there! EDIT: Looks like I may have come across your question and forgotten. Can't see where else I would've gotten the idea that these kind of Identity tricks could be accomplished with Feruchemy. It sounded to me like modifying one's Spiritual Identity with Awakening, like what Vasher taught that little girl to do when she erased her memories, is the key to these tricks with Breath. Similar sorts of tricks could probably be accomplished using Feruchemical Aluminum. If you've stored enough of Identity, you're able to fill "blank" metalminds with no sDNA attached, so anyone can tap them. That's my best guess. There's probably more to it than that.

A more accurate transcript of the questions would be something like this: Question Crem and the Purelake on Roshar. Do they have any connection to Cultivation? Answer Both existed on the planet before Cultivation arrived. Question But both are influenced by her now? Answer Yes, she influences both. And for the second one: Question There's that trick with Feruchemy that lets you make metalminds that others can tap. Could you do something similar with Self-Awakening? Answer Oh yeah, there are all sorts of tricks that you can do. You could use other peoples Breaths, make it seem like you don't have any Breath- Question Awaken an object so that others could access its Breaths? Answer Yes. (Is there somewhere I should post these? Still paraphrased, but these are more accurate.)

Latest TV show for me has been Arrow. Haven't finished yet, but I've liked it so far.

I'm pretty sure mail-mi and I were the only ones asking questions, and we had to be very brief. I would've recorded his answer, but they were trying to rush people through as quickly as possible. I almost brought a Reckonerverse question, but I didn't have time last night to find a good one, so I ended up just using a couple of my own questions. Sorry! Next, time Kobold. As I mentioned, I didn't end up having a chance to record his answers, so these are paraphrased. Especially the second one. Question Crem and the Purelake on Roshar. Are either of those connected to Cultivation? Answer Both were on the planet before Cultivation arrived, but both are now influenced by her. Question (Both my question and the answer here are heavily paraphrased from memory) Are there Identity tricks that can be done with Self-Awakening that could allow someone to store Breaths in such a way that other people could later access them? Answer Oh yeah, there are all sorts of tricks that you can do. You could use other peoples Breaths, make it seem like you don't have any Breath- (I very rudely cut him off there to clarify something, and lost the rest of that sentence.) Hopefully mail-mi will be back with some Reckonverse WoBs for you! Sorry again. Get me the version of the list that doesn't contain Firefight spoilers, and I'll pick a couple questions for the next signing I attend. EDIT: As to a transcript, I would've worked out permission to record or something, but it didn't seem worth it. Based on my observations before entering the line, about one in twenty people asked a question, and hardly any would've provided any useful information. Perhaps there were in fact a couple gems that we've lost, but it's too late now.

I'll be asking Cosmere questions most likely, but I might be swayed toward Reckonerverse. We'll see.

Hey, I'll be there too! Now I wish we had those 17th Shard T-shirts. Do you have questions prepared for the signing?

Kobold, are we ever going to get an update, or is this thread pretty much dead? -
Which magic system would you like to have use of?
Lindel replied to Kestrel's topic in General Brandon Discussion
For practical purposes, Feruchemy. So much useful stuff. For awesomeness, probably Allomancy, or maybe Surgebinding. But the magic system that resonates the most with me personally is Awakening. -
Which Surge would you like to have?
Lindel replied to Curious Anamaximder's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'd say Gravitation, cause who doesn't want to fly? -

I might be interested, depends on if I find the time. -
I think there's some confusion on the definition of psychopath. A psychopath (or sociopath) is defined by a lack of remorse, diminished empathy, and disinhibited behavior. It has nothing to do with carelessness or taking pleasure in killing. Kelsier's psychopathy means he can take actions without regard to the harm he does to other people. He lacks inhibitions. He's able to enjoy the sport of it because he's a psychopath. But there's nothing in the diagnosis of a psychopath that says they only care about themselves, or that they're "bad" people. That's not what it means to be a psychopath. Yes, he cared about the skaa. Yes, he was also a psychopath. There's nothing contradictory about that. He has a harder time empathizing with others, but he's not heartless.

I just finished replaying Portal, and am now moving on to a replay of Portal 2. I'd forgotten how much I love those games! -

Don't take the cookie. When I say mineral rich, I'm not talking about your typical dusting. Those things can really hurt on the way down.

Welcome! If a stranger offers you cookies, don't accept them. Just some friendly advice. Dark Alley cookies have are rather... mineral rich, if you get my drift. Have some upvotes!

Thanks Kobold! Take your time. Just... not too much time. I'm sure it'll be worth the wait. -
These two WoBs seem to be be contradictory: (Emphasis mine) The second was collected three years later than the former, so can we assume that the second overrides the first? The first indicates that a Hemalurgic could only be burned by the same donor who was used to infuse it, while the second seems to be saying exactly the opposite. In the first scenario, you'd basically have spike yourself in a non-lethal way, (which is possible, per this WoB:),

I'm not finding anything that could verify the authenticity of this story. I can't find actual references on any of the pages where the story shows up, so I have no idea if this actually occurred. It appears that Port Townsend is fairly close to Olympia, but far enough that they probably felt tremors without too much damage. But I can't find a single Wikipedia page, or news article, or anything else to prove that this isn't a hoax. So the story could potentially be true, but if so it's virtually undocumented. -
Atium and Lerasium are names that people in world gave to those metals, not some inherit quality. Sure their names have been around for ages, maybe even as long as the metals themselves, but there's nothing special about those names. It's just what someone decided to call them, and it happened to stick. As I'm sure has been pointed out in other threads regarding this, there are very, very few people that know that Sazed is Harmony. Their god is Harmony, not Sazed. Heck, they don't even know about Atium or Lerasium anymore. It doesn't really matter what the other god metals were called. It's not like Hoid or someone is running around naming God metals after their Shardholders. If nobody's aware that Sazed is Harmony, why in the world would it occur to them to name it Sazedium? That said, I'm not sure the metal will even have an Allomantic property. The WoB suggests that there's only one more metal to be introduced. Not a pair, much less sixteen more. I'd say it's likely Harmonium is just the name of the "Final Metal", brought from Southern Scadrial, which means it's likely related to Allomantic technology in some way. EDIT: Fixed a few mistakes.

I was planning on slaughtering the Chargers mercilessly, but maybe that's just me... EDIT: Fixed a typo.
