Oh I thought the goal was to move the moon, so I was saying pull Scadrial and the moon at the same time to cause unnatural movement of the moon.
-
Just add an additional amount to each tier for Flaring and move them about accordingly. I didn't feel Flaring was needed in a basic layout since Flaring is another flat additive which really wouldn't change the order, but provide each tier with an additional amount.
-
Pulling on the moon is theoretically possible though you run into a few problems. 1. You would need to be able to Burn or Flare hard enough to see the Metals within the moon. 2. You would then also need to Pull on a strong enough anchor to make this possible. 3. You would be torn to pieces. Now, all of these could be solved through Compounding potentially. Flare your Compounded Pewter and Iron in order to not be torn to pieces and Pull both the core of Scadrial as well as the core of the Moon. Then you Pull both of them out of their normal orbits, probably causing a collision of Scadrial and the moon and completely change all weather on Scadrial forever..... and likely extinction.

Well even the Blades aren't what they used to be. They don't have glowing glyphs like they used to as is seen in one of Dalinar's visions. Perhaps the reason Odium hasn't done as you suggest is because someone who is Voidbinding (Like a lot of people assume Szeth is doing) are unable to use Plate, therefore it is useless to Odium's minions. That could be where a lot of Plate has gone is into some store room which Odium keeps them in order to hide them away. Or perhaps they are in this mysterious place that pieces of them go when a KR dismisses them. I don't think this "Bond" with the Plate is a thing only one person can have with each set, but something which is caused by the saying of the Oaths. Once someone has taken their Oaths they are granted a set of Plate from the hidden Armory. This could be why there were once thousands of sets, but now only a few hundred. The ones which are gone are either stored in this armory or Odium has hidden them somewhere else.

Cosmere Battle Royale; AKA Who Would Win
Miyabi replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Right so whatever Vasher Awakened wouldn't respond as well to Lashing as normal things would (Similar to how Shardplate and Blades aren't really affected by Lashings.) -
They're quick reads, only a couple hours a piece at most. They also happen to be the funniest books I have ever read.

Cosmere Battle Royale; AKA Who Would Win
Miyabi replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Cosmere Discussion
With what we've seen I would say Vasher would very easily defeat Szeth. The strength of Nightblood is so huge, plus the different things he could do with awakening far outweigh and outshine the things Szeth can do with a Shardblade and Lashing. Though we have yet to see what other abilities Szeth may gain in the future. We also don't know the full extent of Nightblood's abilities. I feel though that the fight would be heavily weighed in Vasher's favor. A fight I would REALLY like to see though would be Szeth v. Vin. I feel like that fight is much more even and would provide for a really interesting set of exchanges. -
Ah, now that's something I hadn't thought of. Very good point. Upvote for you.

I'm not sure that "destroyed" would be a proper term to be used. I would imagine that the entire set would just go where the other pieces go when one of the KR dismisses a piece. I would think they could be reacquired in some fashion, though we haven't seen how as of yet.

Well Odium would know that Shards coming together would be able to overthrow him and ruin his plans, so he has at least some plans to cause this to not be possible. RE: Sel; Odium destroying the Shards here was 2 fold. One because they were now Splintered and it would be a lot more difficult to unite the Shards. Two because the magic was broken, creating a large amount of pressure within the Spiritual Realm, which would make it hard for anyone (i.e. the 17th Shard) to enter Sel in attempts to unify the Shards to create a power which could rival him. Re: Scadrial; I would guess that here he either had some form of agreement with Ruin, or saw that the two were causing each other so much trouble already he wouldn't need to destroy them. Re: Nalthis; Endowment is the only Shard here and she seems to be expending a lot of energy to influence her world, which would make her not much of a threat to Odium, so he left it be. Re: Roshar; This is his biggest threat currently. Honor and Cultivation seem to be likely allies and likely to combine their power when they realized what Odium was doing in order to stop him. So Odium took a preemptive step and took out Honor as soon as he could.

Now that you bring that up I remember it. That scene though feels ... out of place. Every other time they describe it it is mentioned that you can only push directly from yourself to the object. I feel as if this is an inconsistency within the text that Brandon would need to clear up. My biggest problem with this is the fact that there is only ever one Allomantic line going to each piece of metal and you focus on that line to interact with the piece of metal. How does one, then change where this line points? Hmm.
-
Right, that's what I'm saying and it appears others are saying as well. It's not multiplicative, but additive. The amount which it adds can be affected by, pureness of Allomancy and level of savant-ness. You might have a list like this on how much someone receives at base burning levels: (NOTE: These numbers are just meant to show scale not my actual thoughts on what numbers should be) Misting, who has barely any Allomantic DNA who almost never uses Pewter: 1.1 - 1.3 Misting, who has a fair amount of Allomantic DNA and uses Pewter regularly: 1.2 - 1.75 Vin before practice, someone with strong DNA, but very little practice: 1.5 - 2.1 Ham, someone with strong DNA and lots of practice: 1.75 - 2.5 Vin strong DNA and lots of practice/Elend pure DNA little practice: 2 - 3 Savant, someone who is constantly using Pewter and has been physically changed by it: 2.5 - 5 Elend Pure DNA with a lot of practice: 4 - 6 Someone with Pure DNA and is a Savant: 5 - 10 So each of these categories, and I'm sure they could be broken down further, would have a different level of strength which is added to them by the Pewter. A secondary factor would be the purity of the Pewter, but I'm going to assume for most cases it is pure Allomantic Pewter.

I really like this idea, especially considering it conforms to what Brandon said about them already have Stormlight locked away.

Theory: The Nightwatcher is Cultivation's shardpool
Miyabi replied to Gaelan's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think you're interpreting what is trying to be said incorrectly. The Physical Form at the well isn't Cultivation's goal. Like, she's not trying to create a Physical Form for use in battle, but more as a way to interact with humans on Roshar in a way they understand. You see that people seem to talk very normally about going to see the Nightwatcher. It's met with a bit of hesitation and suspicion, but as compared to say Dalinar's visions, or hearing Ruin's voice it is a much more ... comfortable interaction for humans to relate to. Shards being the way they are seem to need humans to better affect the world because of their lack of Physical form within the world. I feel this is just a way for her to interact with humanity. We also see Sazed use Marsh for a similar purpose. A way to interact with people which is less jarring than "God talked to me in my dreams."- 47 replies

Current status on possible interview is checking to see when he is going to start signings books before the actual signing. lol Keep in mind this is the day of the Steelheart release. If the interview happens I would like the questions for the interview to be more professional question be things along the lines of: We have seen hints of the overarching Cosmere story arc. What was the inspiration behind the story? When we reach the end of the Cosmere will there be something else, or do you feel this will take your whole writing career to achieve? Things like that. These other questions are great and I will try to ask them if I can, but I also need some more ideas for the larger scale questions. haha.

WoB is that Kaladin was stronger than Szeth. Someone mentioned it and he said something along the lines of "I was wondering when someone would notice that."

Theory: The Nightwatcher is Cultivation's shardpool
Miyabi replied to Gaelan's topic in Stormlight Archive
Just because there is a Physical Realm representation doesn't mean that all of the power of the Shard is in a real Physical. In fact part of this theory is that there's a Shardpool. I large chunk of power/energy would be going towards that as well.- 47 replies

Next week I will be attending a signing. What are the questions we want answered most? I will do my best to try and get as many as I can. Perhaps I could email him to see if he wants to do lunch and maybe an interview for the site? I will see what I can do.
-
Welcome. I can already tell I'm going to like you. You show up and ask the second most important question we don't know the answer to. "] There are a few hints though, though they aren't canonical as they point to things which aren't published, but I will post links to. One theory here is that he is talking about his master, whose name was Hoid (Hoid's name wasn't Hoid at the time.) Another theory is that he is speaking of himself, about a time when he didn't know who he was and taught himself to tell stories in the grand style he seems fond of. Here are a couple links to pieces from a book which talks about Hoid's back story before he began hopping between the Shardworlds most of Brandon's books take place on. Note: These are not-canonical because they are not published and are subject to change. Brandon doesn't like the way Liar turned out. He tried a different method of writing than he was used to and the end result wasn't his best work. Original Opening Drafted Version

YES! That was exactly what I was talking about. lol. Upvote for you.

Right, I understand what you meant and I understand what Shadesmar looks like. I feel like I may not have explained myself correctly. If you look at Aimia and the Purelake, they are similar in size on both maps. However, when you are in Shadesmar the Purelake could be 100 miles across and Aimia could be 1000 miles. The space is different there than it is here and isn't necessarily consistent. So the easiest way to get to Urithiru would have been to travel west and enter Shadesmar. Though the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced the word 'westward' was mistranslated from the Dawnchant. It seems to me that it was more likely to be the case considering someone could travel from Urithiru > Kholinar > Veden City in a single day, I think it is likely that each city had some way perhaps a gateway (I remember reading something regarding gates and Urithiru but I can't find it for the life of me) that would take them directly to Urithiru, but these were lost when the city fell to the Physical Plain. I don't think anyone moved Urithiru, I feel you may have misunderstood what I meant. What I was trying to say is that some power, either from the KR or the Heralds or the Oathpact, was holding Urithiru where it was, anchoring it there, and when this power was lost it wasn't able to only exist in the other Plain so it melded into the Physical world. The city I would think would have appeared very similar to the way it did in its original state at first, though over time, being unattended for thousands of years, the buildings would just slowly become covered in crem, creating what is now called the Shattered Plains. Much in the same way that if I Shardbearer dies his Blade comes back to the Physical Plain from the Spiritual, because the Bond isn't holding it there anymore so it can't sustain itself.

Right, which is why I so strongly believed she was using it as one of her Surges. It really is quite intriguing. Grr.- 89 replies
