Im not sure that's true. With the exception of burning Atium which was a Preservation scheme to Trap Ruin's power, I dont think it was compatible with Allomancy in Era1 just like the Mist wasnt compatible with Hemalurgy back then. EDIT: Nevermind, see below
-
Worth noting that a Fullborn is not supposed to be possible naturally, for whatever reason gives both a "one or all" genetic options. TLR made tweaks to his body while ascended to make it possible. Other than that the only proven ways are via Hemalurgy or extreme Medallion tech like the Bands. Lerasium can make you a full Mistborn, and it is possible to use the Scadrian godmetals to make a Feruchemist but he wouldnt explain the process (making me think it takes more than just a specific alloy). Lerasium is typically additive (despite the word Overwrite being used for it's power) so I would think you could use it twice to become a Mistborn and a Feruchemist.

A few questions about combining Forgery and Hemalurgy
Quantus replied to Trusk'our's question in Cosmere Q&A
Based on this WOB is sounds to me like the Forged Spiritweb would function like a "normal" one. So I think it would be permanent, since the Investiture is being housed and managed by a permanently implanted Spike instead of the more temporary Stamp that needs recharging. The Spike would still decay if removed from Blood, etc. -
We have no clear idea of what happens when you burn even a normal Spike other than "very strange consequences", so it's real hard to say what would happen with such a complicated Investiture example. There's also an Identity issue to overcome first.

Spiritual Realm timelessness and Splintering
Quantus replied to cometaryorbit's topic in Cosmere Discussion
The Shard as in the 1/16th of all Power in the universe exists in the Spiritual Realm (primarily) where all possible timelines exist. The Vessel that is channeling it exists in all three Realms so they can perceive that cliff's edge of Infinity but are still bound by the threshold wave of The Now that solidifies those possible Futures into the single Objective Truth of existence.- 1 reply

I have two theories on that, but no specific evidence to lean towards either. 1. The Singers are a part of the Rosharan ecosystem since Adonalsium's time, and he made them as the sapient part of it even if he didnt allow sapient spren back then. 2. The Gemheart Ecosystem is the Draconic Ecosystem with Dragons at their top, the way Sho Dal are for the Fain ecosystem and Humans are for the normal "trune" ecosystem, and it becomes more likely that Cultivation created them. Fwiw, in this theory Larkin (the "Ancient Guardians" of the dawnshards) are actually the mortal Larval form of true, fully immortal Dragons, as a further ecosystem connection.

If the population was Created since the Shattering (like Scadrial or Nalthis), then I agree since the Shard(s) shouldnt have any access to or control over the INvestiture flavors of the other shards. But for the planets, peoples, and other things that existed prior to the Shattering, I think it's a little more muddied. For those that have not had any undue influence from a Shard, I would expect they'd have a more "Natural" mix of all the 16's flavors, your normal Human ratio's of Honor, Love, Whimsy, Ruin, etc.

The Shoving action was done by the bar of Raysium in the knife, the anti-tone itself didnt really move or compress the Investiture. I dont think you can do that to a spike though. I think it will either see itself as a Single Object that will spread the Investiture equally, or it is not and will keep the two charges entirely separate. Same idea as when Ishar Connected those Radiants to the ground, tricking their own Investiture into trying treat the ground as a part of them.

Sounds like it was Dawnsinger language first, both verbal and written, and the Humans adopted it later. Had there been a surviving Ashyn-based language I would have expected Shin to be where it was preserved, but theirs is a Dawnchant-based langauge as well. Alternatively, the way Connection impacts Language could provide a mechanism for the separate worlds in the Rosharan system having convergent similarities even before their actual First Contact. It's always cool to have an in-world reason for the trope that the Aliens show up speaking English (or whatever local broadcast language).

Elantrians are being sustained (by the Dor connection that was broken for a bit, I assume) and are functionally immortal. It's also worth noting that they dont really die to become what they are, so they wouldnt have the same sustanence requirement of a Cognitive Shadow like a Returned. It's possible they are immortal more like the Kandra. Dahkor monks are known to be longer lived but it doesnt sounds like they are immortal by default. Given their Sacrifice mechanism, it would not surprise me to find out they can extend it by sacrificing the Lives of others, but that sounds like it would be closer to F-Atium's extension mechanism that has diminishing returns.

Proposal to open a spoiler forum for The Lost Metal now
Quantus replied to Oltux72's topic in 17th Shard Discussion
I support this suggestion. There have been times other folks will see a Spoiler where I dont, and I'd hate to spoil anything by accident or my own more permissive idea of what makes a Spoiler. A safe place to discuss it couldn't hurt. -
Taln is a very problematic character...[Discuss]
Quantus replied to KaladinWorldsinger's topic in Stormlight Archive
No, I think the exact opposite of that. When speaking to Szeth he is very much doubting himself and his own sense of Justice, which I believe is his expressions/symptoms of whatever magic Herald madness is at play. I think I've articulated that as much as I can, it seems like we're going in circles now. -

Quantus replied to KaladinWorldsinger's topic in Stormlight Archive
At minimum I think you'd have a better chance at a reasoned discussion with him in that case. Personally I would point out that his own argument of escalating Rights to the World might not stop at the mortal singers and instead would keep going up to the Shards where Cultivation would still be the Ruler Defending against the Invader. He's also still operating under the outdated racial assumptions, but the sides are not that clear cut anymore, with singers, humans and Spren on both sides. He literally IS a Voidbringer, the first generation. Then he fought for them for millenia. Then he operated a shadow cult that respected their laws while arranging the deaths of a subset of them that made him afraid. Im not really making assumptions on how he is going to react at this point, he's been on all the sides. I disagree, there's relatively little link between confidence and assassination. And the implication has been that Nale's following Ishar's advice more than charting his own proverbial course. We've seen one so far. Which is equal to the number of Willshapers, Singer Radiants, and Elscallers we've seen, and one more than the number of modern Stonewards; which is to say there are a bunch of things we havent seen but can reasonably expect to. And it makes sense to me that Skybreakers as a group would lean toward following an Authority figure over making their own call on the matter. You see as taking confidence to (blindly?) hold to the course he was on, I see it as taking more to acknowledge that he might have been entirely wrong that whole time once the magical effect was removed and his former perspective and capabilities were temporarily restored. -
Taln is a very problematic character...[Discuss]
Quantus replied to KaladinWorldsinger's topic in Stormlight Archive
Nope, I personally think his Mind broke a long time ago in a way that was less useful to the Void forces torturing him because he became too broken of mind to muster the Intent they needed for him to Break his Oath. But since it's explicitly a magical ailment and not purely a more normal result of intense, nigh infinite torture, so I can't discount the possibility that he was entirely sane and coherent until the recent changes to the Void (the Everstorm, etc) that let Odium return without him "breaking" like the others to start a Desolation. And in theory that is the only time he's been his usual non-Mad self, being in the presence of a Radiant as they Swear a new Ideal (as Ishar said it does). But it passed pretty quickly and again he started going to Ishar for guidance and telling Skybreakers that he considers himself an inferior Judge as compared to his past self. -
Taln is a very problematic character...[Discuss]
Quantus replied to KaladinWorldsinger's topic in Stormlight Archive
Taln as we have actually seen him is entirely Undependable because he is either coherent and competent or far more often a shuffling, mumbling child, with no predictable pattern, so you cannot Depend on him for literally anything including Being Crazy. He might be more stoic than the rest or have proven more resilient, etc. but he cannot be Depended upon for anything as he is now. Taln's a special case in the Oathpact though. For all we know only recently and very suddenly gained the condition once he returned and was his fully capable self before he returned to Roshar this most recent time, where the others might have gained the effect slowly in the time they've remained here. Nale himself openly doubts his own interpretation of Justice to the point where he warns Szeth against swearing this Ideals to Nale directly, which is a level of self-doubt that the "Herald of Confidence" shouldn't normally reach. -
Taln is a very problematic character...[Discuss]
Quantus replied to KaladinWorldsinger's topic in Stormlight Archive
His associated attributes in Vorinism are Dependability and Resourcefulness. Now he is entirely UnDependable as he will go effectively comatose at any moment (occasionally being competent just enough that you cant even count on him being a useless lump), and mostly goes around as luggage that isn't able to manage much of anything for himself, which is the opposite of Resourceful. Nale was Just and Confidence, and he no longer has Confidence in his own Justice and actively councils new Skybreakers not to follow him directly. Shash is Creative and Honest and she's been hiding, lying to herself and others, and is compelled to destroy any created images of herself. Ishar was Pious and Guiding and he's off committing to most atrocious blasphemies while leading others down various paths of madness. -
Taln is a very problematic character...[Discuss]
Quantus replied to KaladinWorldsinger's topic in Stormlight Archive
There's something there I think, but I dont think it is as simple as the direct effect of popular opinion on the Heralds via the same Spren mechanisms, because they all very specifically and conspicuously Mad in a way that is opposite to their popular characterization. This could be an Inverting effect of Odium and his new Pure Tone's impact on the metaphysics of Roshar, or it could be related to Honor and whatever Broke him. But because it's opposite and not just unrelated, I do think there's some metaphysical element at play. -
The future of shards. How will it all end?
Quantus replied to Vin(Diesel)'s topic in Cosmere Discussion
Following the Great Cosmere War, the Shards Continue, with Vessels, but also with a far more explicit and binding Agreement of the use and Limits of their Power and establishing more of a governing Council.- 16 replies

Per WOB, Steel speed should not have allowed her to go full Speed Force like that, leaving a vacuum bubbble like that implies she close to or even past the speed of sounds. So presumably the Bands are expanding her abilities and Perception to the point where there's also some sort of advanced form of Temporal Manipulation also at play, or maybe something else reinforcing her physically.

Taln is a very problematic character...[Discuss]
Quantus replied to KaladinWorldsinger's topic in Stormlight Archive
Taln is Broken. Badly. I dont think he endure through Strength so much as he fractured in a way that wedged the metaphorical (or magical) door shut instead of opening it for them like the other heralds did. -
I dont know about that,or at least there seems to be some limit to it. There seems to be a more short-term reaction similar to the Healing time-limit that external Regrowth seems to have but basic (internal) radiant healing does not. The people around the statue might recognize them as pieces of a whole for generations, but after a relatively short time they would also probably accept the Pieces as the new state of things (especially for those that had never even seen the original) I think they accept it's new place as the heart of the Fourth Bridge, as an extension of the original rather than a replacement. Beyond that though, it likely becomes an Argo question.

"On Second Thought, Forget the Theories and Blackjack"

Oh, there is no evidence, other than how conspicuous the act is viewed in world, and the fact that Fabrial mechanics were shown to mirror some elements of the metallic Arts to make me extra suspicious. I strongly suspect it's functional in some way, and Hemalurgy's a pretty similar mechanic to some of the realmics being explored. And now that we've seen Awakening, Aviar, Aons, and even some Feruchemy/Metalminds on stage in SA, I expect the trend of cameo magics to continue.

Inanimate objects are represented by Beads (in the rosharan region of the Cognitive realm only) while living people are represented by individual Flames. The timeframe that represents the Identity shift from a Single entity to pieces of it is the timeframe that Dalinar can repair it, more or less by reminding it of it's past self and giving it Investiture to "heal". There is a catch in that the Identity of inanimate objects is strongly affected by the perceptions of those that consider and/or interact with it, which will affect how long it's seen as a Broken whole vs separate Pieces, or individual materials as a single crafted Object for that matter.
