  1. I'm all out of Rosharan "Pitch", but grab some next time you worldhop over there and we can run the experiment.
  2. Agreed, just by the science of oxygen anything will burn less effectively off Roshar than on it. Whether it only burns on roshar might be a different question, i guess
  3. I tend to think it will mostly only be relevant (or noticed) with Worldhoppers that have some alternate reference frame. Everything else would hide behind the local familiarity; they wont really notice fire being different any more than they'll notice the low gravity or their above average heights or their lack of "normal" illness. Very true and very likely. Flammability is a sliding scale based on O2 concentrations and atmospheric pressures. In a pure O2 environment nearly any hydrocarbon will burn pretty easily. The devil's advocate statement is that rosharan "pitch" is likely another generic term. Theirs is unlikely to be any of the petrochemical versions used historically, they're likely to be something organic closer to whale oil or even some sort of flammable squid-ink (given the ocean theme for a lot of their ecology). If her "spark" was hot enough it might vaporize enough starter substance to get sustained combustion going.
  4. It was also technically possible to manufacture them while Miles was around, correct me if I'm wrong, so they could (theoretically) have had more than average supply of either or both type of Gold power spikes.
  5. Probably. In the case of the Lifespren, it encouraged them to take in stormlight and then sort of pollinate the plants with them. If the flamespren can similarly be handed Investiture and then encouraged to deposit it in thematically appropriate places (ie kindling, etc) then it should work. Im guessing the secret sauce is in finding the precise rhythm/Song that encourages/incites the specific target behavior in a given spren species.
  6. Similar question that sidesteps some of the problems with Spren and Bonds: Is it possible to hemalurgically Steal the Powers that are granted by the Honorblades (which WOB says are similar to Medallions)? It's a Bond, a Connection spike should do it, and it can't just Decide to end it afterward the way a sapient Spren could.
  7. I'm guessing it would push you toward the decisions that the Spike donor would have done, not necessarily beneficial; you could probably steal/implant the destiny of an unmotivated nobody too. Morality aside, Yes I think so (assuming you can find the appropriate donors). I think Destiny in this context is stealing the "Likely Possibilities" of that person, in the same way that Forgery is relative to a "Likely" past. So like somebody could probably have spiked "Found a skaa Rebellion" and you'd start acting more like that person, or a version of that person that was a lot more like you, or some weird middle ground. But like with Identity, it probably wont be a clean transfer unless you manage to "Balnk" your own destiny too, so that yours and the donor Destiny dont mix in unexpected ways (maybe a Beloved King's Destiny added to your loner life of crime makes a Crime boss or despot instead of a beloved King).
  8. I find it interesting that it "is usually what happens" with a whole new body being made from scratch. We know a few ways to fabricate/appropriate the PR Meatsuit itself, I think, but that leaves Connecting as the magic sauce needed (probably Bondsmithing or Hemalurgy), or maybe a very specially prepared Awakening Command to grab the CS and pull it into a body? Or you could try to Manifest a fresh body from/for your spirit more like spren or maybe the Heralds do, which would take a Shard's intervention, or possibly a stuffed Shardpool's worth of Investiture on par with the Well, and the Intent to get it done. I wonder if you can Forge a Cognitive Shadow in Shadesmar the way you can supposedly Spike them? That might open up possibilities, maybe you can Forge the shadow to a Never-Dead timeline, which I assume is much easier within their original lifespan than for a 1000 year old ghost (along with various other hurdles).
  9. I doubt they'd be able to drive that sort of blood oxygenation issue, on the logic that Iron in any complex molecule is essentially a different Iron Alloy. It should only effect pure iron and the specific Steel allow, not Iron Oxide, Iron Carbide or other such things. Separately, there's ongoing debate on whether leechers can actually leech metals from Non-Allomancers, of it it requires the target to have the corresponding mundane metal burning power first. For other applications, WOB says a Leecher can kill a Returned Outright, though I dont know if that's targeting the Divine Breath or just purging the normal ones and instantly starving the DB.
  10. Ah, you're right For some reason I thought it appeared as ingots.
  11. So where do you think that shard of Ishar's Honorblade would fall, usable for Hemalurgy now that it's separated from the honorblade itself? Similarly, is Purified Dor a Godmetal enough to be viable for Hemalurgy? Are we assuming all "pure" Godmetals viable, absent the sapience and/or Identity issues?
  12. Ive long wondered: Is it rare among the Godmetals to be able to easily accept additional Soul Charge via hemalurgy (we know Atium and Trellium can do it), or is it the fact that Shardbaldes are Sapient Investiture with their own Identity, etc?
  13. Shai is not a Scadrian, she is from the Rose Empire Sel. She's the protagonist of Emperor's Soul. Being just a Misting or Ferring should be easy so long as those traits are already present in your family history somewhere. Forging a Scadrian into a full Mistborn or full Feruchemist would have been easy in Era1 when those were common, but now the Forgery would have to provide a likely reason for that single bloodline to have survived at full power, and would have to reach pretty far back. On the other hand, if you can forge (or otehrwise convert) the Purified Dor into equal amount of Lerasium, you're all set. Edit: Sorry, I think I mis-read your post. It probably depends on how you become a Forger and if doing so somehow stripped you of your Scadrian Connections. Generally, yes, If a Scadrian with full Mistborn potential already in their bloodline (a sibling with the power, for example) they could probably Forge themselves into a Mistborn. But lacking that pre-existing potential, the WOB is weird, but implies that you could make yourself an Allomancer but it would lack the Connection to Preservation that would actually Power it. So if Feruchemy is chagingg your own batteries and Allomancy is like being plugged into the power grid, a Forged allomancer is an UnPlugged mains power machine.
  14. For what it's worth, WOB says the eventual Scadrian FTL lives somewhere in those unexplained thermodynamic effects at the boundaries, which has me very excited. In most cases wherever the math would straight-up break reality, the answer boils down to the idea that it really just breaks the boundary to the Spiritual Realm, and Investiture makes up the difference. Or else there's some other side of the equation dealing with the Investiture Relativity side of the E=MC^2=I(+?) and it might make sense later once he reveals the 3rd and 4th (unknown) Laws of Investiture.
  15. Kriss, Nahz, and the Silverlight folks, maybe? I think I'd enjoy the exploration and study of worlds, and Im not really looking to take an active role in any of the ongoing conflicts.
  16. Ooh, this will be fun. Welcome!
  17. Gemstones trap the entirety of a pure Cognitive Investiture entity, as opposed to the full Three Realms existence of a PR mortal. So in theory it should be the same as the Spike ripping all that off and leaving all the Physical Body parts (ie. the parts that got futzed with to make Koloss back in the day) behind. In Kel's case, death simply did that first so he just skipped a step. That being said, I do think you can contain a complete Spiritweb in a Spike, especially if it's already been liberated from it's meat-gundam. It could take an Atium spike that doesnt have the same spiritweb sector limitations, and it would take very specific Intent, but I do think it should be within the reach of (late-stage) Hemalurgy as a system.
  18. What would your Ideal Be? Let's Join the Order, Bind us now, You aint never had a Spren Like Me! Teeheehee!
  19. Jumping in: I think Kelsier and the hypothetically Spiked UnMade are essentially the same and the Body is just and extra step/perk. Spikes Hold Investiture, just like Gems. Once Kelsier was Spiked back into a Body* he was officially In the Physical Realm, although he was trapped and immobile until the Spike got plugged into a person. Trap an UnMade in a Gem, and they are locked in the Physical Realm and immobilized unless and until they get plugged into a Fabrial. Same thing, different materials. So a Spike (Nricosil, Im guessing) provides a far less leaky storage than the average Gem, at the cost of more complicated Charging/Trapping requirements. *How did that work, BTW? How did Kelsier "load" himself into a spike" when he had no body to Spike himself out of?
  20. Metal.
  21. Im going to assume for the sake of argument that the First Contract isnt an issue, say the mother is very recently but unrecoverably Dead (maybe she was spiked), and the Kandra is trying to focus efforts on saving the child (and by whatever standard they consider it a child). Biologically the Kandra should be able to provide everything needed to be a surrogate womb. WOB has him waffling (and recently seeming to settle) on Kandra being unable to biologically reproduce themselves, unlike Koloss now, but they should be ablte to take the form of the standard baby biological life support system. The question, and this is really more of a matter of skill rather than racial capability, is to accomplish the transition successfully. Somebody like Tensoon can do it pretty fast, which could work on the face of it. Otherwise I think they'd need to take a lot of care to first start the process as a Life Support system for the existing Mother/corpse/womb, pumping and oxygenating blood in the body to preserve the placenta function. If they can stabilize the basic intervention-level Life Support, they'd then be able to digest the rest of the body at their own pace (presumably much slowly and more methodical) to wrap themselves around and eventually replace it all, possibly right up to the Amniotic sac, or possibly remaining more of an unnatural life-support incubator for a whole womb transplant. It's not like they have to worry about DNA type matching or organ tissue rejection.
  22. There's a caveat that it will take "a LOT" of Investiture to overcome the spikes charge to then awaken it, and ditto for using an awakened piece of metal like Nightblood for Hemalurgy. If you overcome that limit, you're already in the rule-breaking realm of transcendent powers, so what you decribe is as reasonable as anytyhing. Sapient Awakened objects can do a lot of strange things with the right Command and Intent, they can form Bonds with their wielders, and can even communicate telepathically with them. So if the Command was geared toward mimicking Hemalurgic Spiritweb interfacing instead of Shardblade mimicry, you could probably pull something off. Hard to say where it would fall on the spectrum of an expanded personal mind (like the extremes of feruchemy) to a Bonded external being like a Radiant, but that's probably in the nuance of the Command and the Awakened Spike Bind Point, etc.
  23. Yes, although it feels a bit at odds with this one that straight says Nicrosil Spikes steal raw Investiture like Breaths. Same with Memories in Copper Metalminds vs Copper Spikes, Im not really clear on what the difference is (if there is one in those cases).
  24. I think you'd pretty much only get whatever they are actively channeling at the time, so at minimum this might be the difference between an active Elantrian and a Shaod Elantrian that has no flowing Dor, and more if they are actively powering any AonDor. I cannot find it at the moment, but I believe there is a WOB that confirms Hemalurgy can be used to steal Kinetic Investiture if you time it correctly.
  25. Not really, Kelsier is currently in a state that is very close to being a spren, that's all the RAFO is really leaving open there. To the OP, I once mused about the idea of Mutual Spiking. The idea, and it would be dangerous if possible at all, would be for two people in a very particular (and likely uncomfortable) pose to get the same thing spike out of and into each other at the same time (possibly with gold medallions to smooth the spiritual surgery. My original idea was for something more as part of a cultural wedding and/or bonding ceremony, so I had my eye on a mutual Spiking of Identity into each other. But I couldn't say a) if it's even possible or b) if it would provide any practical effects on their powers. I figured at most it might let them share metalminds, if their Identities blended consistently enough to match.
