  1. Wait. So do adhesives like tape work using friction, because I'm positive they don't. It would also be extremely weird if two surges used the same basic principle. It would be like if allomantic iron pushed and zinc pulled.
  2. I think the wob that if you count the magic on that one way there are 10, because of the surges, but if you cont it another way there are 30 some magic states because of the different ways the surges are used.
  3. Pre-Shattering Listener world hoppers?
  4. I could see Hoid showing up to talk with Lift.
  5. I totally don't disagree with a lot of the stuff you say. I had simply come into sources that had told me something contrary to what you had said and wanted to share I formation in a constructive manor. I think that, if Adolin does turn out to be a radiant which I still doubt, he is most likely to be an edgedancer. You played a big role in convincing me of this. I also never said that he had no issues with failing in many relationships, and don't appreciate words being put into my mouth simply because I offered an unoppinionated presentation of some data I had found. One thing else I want to mention is that there is a line on the back of one of the SA books that says that a crack in one's soul is often necessary for the use of investiture in the cosmere. This heavily implies that a radiant much go through something that would "snap" them, and not just an fairly average life problem. I don't think that we know enough about Adolin, Elhokar, or Rysn to refer to any of them as proto radiant, as that implies something more than a theory. I also think that you use your own interpretation of the character as canon, and often argue and derail conversations when Adolin is not refered to in the same light as you see him, which is reasonable, but I don't think that it should happen in a topic pretty unrelated to Adolin, much less any conversation what so ever that Adolin could be brought up in. I think a lot of your infamy when it come to Adolin is your ability to do just that. To turn a topic from one with the key words "Nahel bond, mental issues, theory" into one that should have the tags "Adolin, theory, edgedancer" so often. Back on topic, after some consideration I don't think that mental issues are what play a role in radiancy, but rather the central issue of someone's life. For Shallan, she basicly lived a lie for most of her life. We know that she had formed a bond with pattern prior to her mother's death, but what ever happened to her before then must have been seriously messed up, for her to admit to herself the murder of both of her parents to herself before whatever went down before then. It is pretty likely that the last truth for Shallan to tell is the most important, anything else would be anticlimactic, and Brandon is known for writing great climaxes. When Shallan finally starts making progress to admitting the death of her father (which I'm certain is when she began summoning pattern in WoK as we know she could not have soulcast if she had'nt started to summon her blade) is when her and pattern's bond begins to reawaken. Shallan's central issue in her life was that she was living a lie. Her radiancy is a means to guide her away from that and towards really living, instead of lying to herself. Kaladin's main issue in life is his inability to protect those he cares for. This began when Tien died. He threw himself into learning how to fight (and I think that is when Syl first found him) and eventually began to manage to protect his squad. He failed once more, but still didn't give up, trying to escape with and protect his fellow slaves. When he become "the retch" and eventually is about to end his life, he strays from his progress at protecting. This persuades Syl to leave him, as she does before finally coming back and convincing Kaladin to save bridge four, as he then tries to do. As he gains more confidence in himself and his ability to protect those around him he makes progress with his bond, the nail in the coffin being when he decides to save Dalinar's army and he swears his second ideal. This pattern repeats in WoR, but with Kaladin being unsure of who to protect and why, rather than how to protect and why. I don't think that we know enough about the other confirmed oath-sworn to continue this theory with them, but I think lift mentioning "I have tried being uncaring before. It doesn't work (paraphrased)" is a good indicator that this is correct. Let me know what you guys think.
  6. I would just like to point out that most studies point towards the loss of a parent at a young age to directly correlate to issues in a relationship only in very young children, like from 0-5. We may be looking at different studies however, but the one I could find after extensive browser searching are telling me this.
  7. Very interesting idea that would explain a lot of things. I'm not sure, but I think that Brandon has said that the "breaking" that happens is basicly a snapping, like an allommancer. We'll see what happens.
  8. Yup, nope. Reckoners isn't cosmere.
  9. I saw a WoB from I think one of the SoS signings wher Brandon straight up said that Vasher can take in stormlight.
  10. He would have had to worldhop to Sel to actually get the scepter though.
  11. Brandon often responds to people on social media. He is know for coming in on reddit conversations often.
  12. I'm pretty sure this fact is made somewhat void in this case because of how sDNA works with feruchemy and Allomancy. I remember reading somewhere that it is recessive, so anyone with even a drop of magical blood has a chance to pass on a full mistborn/feruchemist even if they aren't one themselves, or even a misting or ferring. This was shown in world with Vin's father, who didn't seem to have any kind of magic ability, yet conceived a full mistborn.
  13. When she is down to her last movements she isn't spouting "I hate you Harmony!" or "Harmony must die!". She says "I will be me, at the end." with her dying breath she exclaims that all she wants is freedom, autonomy, even if it means her death. Not only that, but she constantly states that her mission is to free the people of Elendel. If her inner passion was to hate Sazed and be hated by Sazed, I think it would have been more explicitly stated, as her passion for freedom and autonomy was.As for the figure in the broadsheet, that could have been several different things. Even if it was a Parshendi, which I doubt, then it might not even be a servant of Odium. Even if it was a servant of Odium we have no evidence or proof that it was involved with the events of SoS. Edit: If you wish for me to give you more solid evidence, pm me.
  14. Do we even know that Bavadin's is still on Taldain? We know that he is during the events of White Sand but has it been confirmed that he has stayed there for the (presumably) 1000+ years after White Sand that we know of?
  15. I wouldn't be suprised if the "other army" Odium is raising is something we haven't senn before, maybe on a different shardworld in Greater Roshar. That or Mr.T, Nalan, and the rioters (Odious of the nobility) in Kholinar all seem like good candidates for non-scadrian armies Odium could be gathering.
  16. I saw a theory here that he uses feruchemical luck, blindfolds himself, then throws a dart at a bunch of maps. Not only does it give us a hilarious mental image, but kind of makes sense.
  17. I'm still not entirely convinced that Trell is a shard. He/she could easily be a agent working for a shard or a non shardic entity. While it is probable, and I believe this theory myself, it is just that. A theory. I don't think we should be throwing other possibilities out the door. Why do you disagree? I think there is much more evidence for that Trell is Autonomy than any other theory out there.
  18. I think this is stretched a bit thin. The evidence is very weak compared to what we have for Autonomy being the new shard on the block.
  19. I honestly think I'm some kind of savant (not allomantically). I've been able to pronounce Rock's name since the first time I read it. This is also true for most things people think are hard to pronounce. I can just read things and say them perfectly.
  20. Regarding how plausible it would be for someone who works in a factory to gather info regarding epics, it us totally possible. I have meet people who are basically homeless who have $3000+ dollar PCs. If someone have something that is not only a passion, but a life goal, they can do some incredible things.
  21. He's just a pawn!
  22. Seeing as how Kandra are different than humans, how can we even begin to guess as to what happens to them with only one spike. I guess, based on realmatics, they become slightly blocked from the cognitive realm and thus lose grip and who they see themselves as and who other people see them as.Edit: I also think that taking someone with such mental loss as a one spike Kandra as someone who may not tell the truth isn't a bad judgement.
  23. Paalm was only partially paralyzed, to stop her from killing more people. I don't think a partial paralyzation it's enough to accuse Sazed if mind rape.
  24. In the original trilogy Sazed was a rebel and a member of a group trying to rob, and eventually overthrew, and empire. On top of that he was doing it against the wishes of the orginazation he was apart of in almost direct violation of their policy to not get involved in these kinds of things. He was definitely chaotic good. I think he is the same now. Think of what happened from his point of view and with his knowledge. He can see the future and knows what will happen in reaction to what he does, but not perfectly. He probably saw that if Wax didn't return to Elendel, the Set would have done some pretty bad things and he simply weighed the pain Wax would feel when having to kill his spouse and love of his life against the pain of kidnapped women, murdered people, and who knows what else. When Paalm went rouge, he probably didn't want Wax to have to go through that again, but it is pretty certain that his future sight on Paalm disrupted by the spike. He didn't give Wax a heads up on what was going to happen because he probably didn't know what would happen. Even if he did, maybe telling Wax Paalm was Lessie would have caused countless more deaths because Wax wouldn't be willing to do what needed to be done against better judgement. Despite my argument, we honestly don't know Sazed's intentions and should probably restrain from jumping to any conclusions before we learn more about his plans before we judge him.
  25. He isn't less affected by any means. I'm pretty sure we have WoB that he simply thought that he was crazy and was trying to ignore the screaming if his shard blade because he thought it was all in his head.
