I know this was a while back, but Joe: I know where you got Corpsemaker's line about a little bit of trust. Nice reference.

You can go from the HoA Epigraph Chapter 78. There are other places in the epigraphs where you get confirmation of this.

Not Syl. It's not something major, but it's not something super obscure.

We're in the Cosmere, it wasn't Pattern. I guess I should have said this (it clarifies a little): "Before I cut, I brought tears. When I did cut, I brought unity and joy."

I wish that the idea of pony radiants were cannon fodder, but can we get a WoB on canon pony Radiants? Are we sure that they aren't just immature Ryshadium? Cannon has two n's, as in cannon fodder. Canon, as in body of knowledge or dogma, doesn't have the double letter.
-
No on the Szeth idea. Yes, cut is actually literal. The first "when" should be changed to "before", perhaps.

30 yard penalty for stretching. You almost made me groan on this one. Upvote!

When I did not cut, I caused tears. When I did cut, I brought unity and joy. Edit: Re: Paragrin- Apparently I'm wrong on a whole lot of counts. Sorry about my confusion.

May I refer you to a page here? It contains heavy spoilers for Mistborn, so don't read the page if you haven't read those books. Some of the information is outdated or slightly incorrect, but it's not big stuff. One thing that I think is crucial to understand (and isn't in the opening post) is that Adonalsium is the power of creation (and is still considered as such in any form). The Coppermind wiki is also a great place to look stuff up and it's mostly accurate except where we haven't updated it yet... If you have any other questions, this thread is the place to ask. There's people like Moogle and Weiry (and me, I guess) who like to answer questions like this. I think that this particular thread doesn't actually reflect the exact nature of Shards. Their names are their Intents, the overall concept which drives the Shards to act. However, I think that the thread reflects the idea of focuses for magic systems better than Intents (metal on Scadrial, commands on Nalthis, etc.). Magic systems arise from interaction of the Intent of the Shard and the nature of the planet on which the Shard settles. Of course, this conversation is better for laughs than it is Realmatic accuracy, so just try to figure it out for yourself using the data instead of listening to my rambling. As far as this thread is concerned, just ignore my sudden lecture and keep going.

Well, you're not that illustrious yet as a worldhopper. You're more illustrious as a crazy leprechaun that resurrects velociraptors, I think.

I apologize. I was thinking about Pippin from Lord of the Rings. (Paragrin Took) Shai/Shash? Ushnaka/Nakal? Yeah, duh, Dereth, the guy who disagreed with Korath and Keseg, the father of the Shu-Dereth sect. So, Kaladin (not Kalad the Usurper) listens to the story of Derethil Wandersail (not Dereth of Shu-Dereth).

Who wants to help me with my magic system?
Curiosity replied to Truthwatcher Ferring's topic in Creator's Corner
What about Trust being something of sharing of emotions? You let your emotions imprint on the other person, but you don't feel the same as them. I guess this would be like Soothing/Rioting, where you're making people do what they want to do (but you made them want to do it since you are the one who made them want it. -
It has occurred multiple times that I am working on a post and I highlight something, and immediately after I edit it, the browser jumps to the top of the page. The post is fine, and all I have to do is scroll back down again, but I just find it odd and a bit distracting. Is this my browser, or a possible issue with the site? It's only happened on the Shard.

Who is your favourite character in SA?
Curiosity replied to missionaryofgod's topic in Stormlight Archive
I decided not to bring Pattern into the poll, but it was tempting. Rock always makes me laugh, Jasnah is probably my favorite as far as human characters go, but Pattern... Pattern has always just been... right. -

Did you mean "fall", Weiry? I wasn't aware that there was a ball going on... Is this for Librarians only? -
I don't think that you would be able to steal the ability from the person because it is stored in the spike, not in the person's own SpiritWeb, per se. The spike is closer to an "extension pack", removable and reusable to an extent (except when the number of spikes is holding up the person's SpiritWeb, see Inquisitors), not fused to the SpiritWeb. However, if you Allomantically burned the spike, you could fuse that bit to your own, possibly making it permanent.*

It's someone from Sel, and I can't figure out who. He mentioned it in the original clue. Edit: Omin? Eshen? Ramea? Roial?

You now have the capacity and resources to invent anything. At least one of your feet must remain on solid ground/ a sturdy structure for the rest of your life. Now I wish that I was a Full Feruchemist with enough metalminds for a century of Feruchemy. -

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Curiosity replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
When your teacher says that you must show your work even if you already know the answer and you write down "Journey before destination." And when you're watching a TV show and you're slightly bored because you already anticipate the next three plot points because, well... Y'know. Sanderson. -

I don't know if I could see her there. First, I don't think she matches the middle eastern/Eurasian look that I imagined for the Terris people. Second, I can't get the image of her as the Evil Queen out of my head.

"Crud" sort of seems a little informal for the voice that I was giving to Hewn. I'm liking it though... I hope to see more in the future!
