  1. Can we get a source on this?
  2. If a Twinborn with Allomantic metal aluminum burns his store of metal, does that wipe out any reserves in his metalminds? (The Feruchemical metal doesn't matter here.)
  3. Just pushed it to Bronze!
  4. Remember, Vin was a 14-15 year-old boy in Final Empire Prime, one of the books that Brandon took elements from to make Mistborn: The Final Empire. I think he changed Vin's gender after he began writing what we now know as Mistborn. There are samples from Final Empire Prime on his website which show this.
  5. Two points: Point 1: I would assume that the secret project is one of these two: A) A script or something else he can't talk about because it has other parties involved (video game/movie/graphic novel/something else crazy!) A book with a really spoilerly title like this: Something from the State of the Sanderson that might spoil the Wax & Wayne trilogy: Point 2: The background document may be SoS sample chapters
  6. Sorry! I wrote that down as an immediate reaction to a first glance at your post, and then wrote the rest and checked all of that against the previous discussion, but I never did edit out that line. Sorry! Spook knowing doesn't make a difference in the long run of things. It's my fault for not proofreading myself well enough. Now that I think about it... Shadows of Self preview chapters
  7. Nope. Weird, right? My usual tendency is to go to prime numbers, but not today!
  8. While composing a post on Allomantic metals, you want to turn your music's volume down, and later have a mystified feeling as you realize that you subconsciously set it to 16.
  9. But Spook knew who Harmony was... I think that harmonium as a catalyst for Allomancy is a fascinating idea. Also, I like your reasoning for the chemical structures of the god metals. We know that atium alloys produce various Allomantic temporal and mental effects*. Lerasium alloys have Allomantic enhancement and physical effects*. Both of these facts contribute to those arguments spectacularly.
  10. No, I think that they're Splinter-sized chunks of Honor's Investiture that aren't alive. They were specifically made to confer Surgebinding powers upon their bearers.
  11. Do the powers of Hemalurgy allow for easy stealing of all Feruchemical attributes? (not the powers, but the attributes which are stored and tapped, e.g., Identity, Determination, etc.)
  12. Hey Weiry, could you include a link to the doc in the OP so that people who come here for questions to ask have a quick resource instead of trying to find that one post where the link is included? Thank you SO MUCH for this update. That was a LOT of work.
  13. I find Weiry's theory most plausible, since Eshonai bonded with a spren before the Everstorm, so the fish could have been hijacked by the spren, assuming that they just bond with whatever spren they find, and don't choose like the Parshendi. Off topic: I just had a funny image of the Fish Radiant.
  14. I'm pretty sure that he wants to be respectful of Hispanic cultures. I know that when writing Jasnah, he researched how she would think by going to atheist forums (not the absolute hate-on-religion forums, but quieter, more philosophical ones) and reading them (and possibly interacting with the users; the wording wasn't clear). I can recall other issues which he approached with care (Kaladin's depression, abused women like Vin, etc.) and had people who have dealt with those things tell him that he hit the nail right on the head. He seems to genuinely desire to relate true people, regardless of how the culture at large sees them. So, in conclusion, I wouldn't be surprised if we get a lot more time getting to know Lopen/Herdazian culture in a way that shows their humanity, even if it looks like he's simply writing stereotypes for now.
  15. OK, nitpick totally off-topic, but Hoid is speaking his native tongue. It's just that the magic he's using (suspiciously like the Sands of Rashid) translates whatever he's saying into the native language of his audience.*
  16. As in, indigenous to Roshar? We don't even know if humans were created on Roshar (I personally don't think that they were) or if they were part of a "mass exodus." So the Shin may or may not. What happens when an aluminum gnat/brute Twinborn burns aluminum (ferring metal doesn't matter)? Are the reserves in the metal mind destroyed or unaffected by the aluminum?
  17. When you are unsure if it's a good thing that you can't find any copies of of the Stormlight Archive in your local bookstore... (And the fact that you were looking for them even though you weren't shopping for any Sanderson that day...)
  18. Kalad the Peacemaker and Kaladin Stormblessed.
  19. Brandon has mentioned that the name for the in-Cosmere organization 17th Shard was chosen very intentionally, indicating that there was a specific intent.*
  20. Hear, hear! To the man who writes TWO novels just because.
  21. You use snorkels as an exclamation too!?!?!?!?
  22. I am FINALLY a Feruchemist! At long last! I get to practice the most useful magic system in everyday life! *Doesn't realize that he's a Soulbearer and there isn't any Investiture around*
  23. There is WoB that the chain missing didn't matter to anyone except for Adolin, but I don't know where that is...*
  24. My immediate reaction: Subsumer Ferring is the power for you, sir!
  25. The Lifeless squirrel that Vasher made.
