  1. Upvotes for all y'all, but jasonpenguin has it. Again, this ties in with my anagram hint.
  2. Cosmere saying. And it's also part of the anagrams thread.
  3. I think making Brandon president would be a terrible idea. I mean, we might have really interesting legislation passed and a fantastic plot to the budget, but the Cosmere would never get finished. If Lightsong had been an option, I would have voted for him for president. Peter would make a good foil to his charismatic shenanigans.
  4. Basically, there's a saying, not from the planet Nalthis, that could not be said to apply to the God King (or perhaps the Returned in general, though less so).
  5. My opinion is that the girl performed "self-Awakening". Vasher told her to repeat certain words and "really mean them". Sounds like Awakening, right? It is possible, since Awakening is not fully understood, that Breath (Investiture, the power of creation) can be used to alter the self. Altering memories a specific event is feasible, since it's a minor effect. Note that Vasher cannot do this himself, probably since the girl's Breath interferes with him "Awakening" her. (I hesitate to use the term Awakening here because it assumes that you're Investing another object.) Presumably, only you can Command your breath ("My life to yours, my Breath become yours", maybe has to do with Identity?). It is my contention that Endowment performs this type of Awakening on Returned, working with a larger Breath (more Investiture, capable of larger effects), so that it obscures the memories of their previous life. Endowment, being orders of magnitude more powerful than, normal people and their Breaths, can easily "override" the Identity (?) problem. If this is assumed, then the girl's memory is hidden, not stolen. Why the Returned often remember their last moments (or entire lives?) right before they die.* (Finding the annotation...)
  6. I wonder who Nightblood would think was evil in this case. The Patriots? The Seahawks? The refs? The halftime show?
  7. No, it's a maxim that basically only the God King ignores. But since he (or anyone native to his planet) doesn't know about it, I guess you can't really say he ignores it.
  8. "Uh, helllo?" A solitary figure suddenly stood in the field, shifting a box to his left hand as he consulted a slip of paper. "Anyone battling here? Someone wanted a mid-combat delivery." Nobody answered. "Please tell me I got the address right this time." The figure looked at his wrist, even though he didn't wear a watch. Mumbling followed. "No, the fixed digits are there... The inter-stish is cancels... Mem-tensor's good..." He scratched his head, looked around, then stomped. "AUGH! Crazy customers. Why can't you just check the shipping timetables? It's so simple! You-" Noticing the confetti on the ground, he stooped down. "Confetti. In the Roughs. Smells like jelly beans. Odd." Placing the package on the ground, he sifted though some of the confetti for a few minutes, occasionally stopping to stare into the middle distance and rearrange objects only he seemed to see, muttering to himself. He got up and began pacing, but jerked to a stop. "Gak! Musn't be late for the Dole. Too bad for whoever wanted the Aon fabs." And in a blink, no one was there.
  9. This is really obvious. (Unless you're a God King.) But they went with it anyways.
  10. No, I haven't. I wait for them to read the books, telling them that they cannot look up any spoilers on the Internet (since the Cosmere is acknowledged FAR too widely on the web, in my opinion). Then I figure out if they have any suspicions, and then I push them in the right direction. I personally believe that the Cosmere is so much cooler if you figure it out on your own. Like I suspected for a few years and then finally found out. ... What? I like secrets.
  11. Uh, so I guess I'll give a prompt, then. Ten wise, old mentor figures in epic fantasy.
  12. 1. Armenia 2. Turkey 3. Russia 4. Azerbijan 5. Georgia ... And I have no idea (but I'll guess Russia and Turkey). Edit: I was wrong! Rats.
  13. Dalinar Kholin "Or two hard rims melt" Hint: An example of these is this: "Hoed beetle fair". Edit: I guess this was too hard. "The Immortal Words: Life Before Death" The Immortal words: Life before death..I
  14. Sadly, buy. We will see magical argyle sweaters in the Cosmere at some point.
  15. Totally buy. (Unless she dies again...) Jasnah and Khriss will end up being the in-world authors of the Cosmere-cyclopedia.
  16. Buy/Sell. You have to intend to steal.* Jak the Allomancer will make a cameo in Shadows of Self.
  17. Vin and Co. killing the Lord Ruler.
  18. I found it first in *gasp* a library. Sort of weird, right?
  19. Then why didn't Devotion and Dominion have "Cognitive Shadows"? This needs asking...
  20. Hemalurgy and Soulcasting (fabrial-wise)
  21. Actually, his arms being too long for his body indicates that he's a eunuch more than the idea that he's a Terrisman. See Final Empire Annotations.
  22. Soulcasting and Allomancy?
  23. I'd go for Feruchemy. It's the most practical magic system that Brandon's written. Plus I can store the entirety of books in cool armbands. Why wouldn't I want that? Meanwhile, I'm pretty sure that you'd enjoy the discussion on the physics of iron Feruchemy (if you haven't already read it).
  24. You'll fit in just fine. You don't have to worry about all of that cookie stuff to enjoy the neediness of the 17th Shard. Welcome!
