  1. I shall also refer you to the Enhancement Quadrant of the Allomantic Table. It's the only section where the effects are not different. I wouldn't say you are overthinking it so much as seeing different things as the norm to compare with (which is where half of the theories on here come from, so it's fine)
  2. I would absolutely agree if we were only dealing with the Metallic Arts, but as it stands, Resonance is a Cosmere wide-thing and plays by its own rules. You are almost definitely right that it's still A+B+Physics=D, but we don't know what the "Physics" Variable is. (And it's infuriating ) edit: oh and Calderis already responded.. page updates are wonderful...
  3. The Atium was mined from the Pits of Hathsin, above Ruin's Shardpool, by the Lord Ruler's orders. It's almost certainly just normal Atium. I shall refer you to the entire Enhancement section of the Allomantic Table. Chromium and Nicrosil are quite literally Aluminum and Duralumin on other people. The same can be said for Lerasium, for a completely different reason. The God metals have 2 sides to the Coin that is burning: an Allomantic effect and a Side effect. Lerasium's Allomantic effect is unknown, and it's side effect is turning people into Mistings/Mistborn Atium appears to be exactly the opposite, it's Allomantic effect is a glimpse into the Spiritual Realm, and it's side effect is unknown.
  4. The Wiki says otherwise.
  5. You make a very valid point, I made an assumption while writing that because they were a Soulcaster, they were part of the Ardentia. (Not having read the whole interlude, I wasn't aware they were from Makabakam.) That and the Varshta(Vashta?) Monastery interlude was an Ardent away from the Alethela area, so it didn't seem too unlikely of an assumption. But I almost certainly feel like Soulcasters would be viewed differently around the world. Not everyone has the same religious fervor that the Vorin do.
  6. Rysn was confirmed, there were the two Ardent ones that he's read at signings, and a semi-confirmed one for Taravangian. And whoever the throughput Interlude person will be(like Szeth in 1 and Eshonai in 2) Bottom line: Book 1 had 9 Interludes and Book 2 had 11. We know about 3.5 for sure, and at least 3 more for the throughput person. That leaves about 2-4 complete unknowns that could be anyone at all In an older AMA, he said that there would be a Taravangian Interlude unless he saw fit to make it an actual chapter, so it sounds like he's a bit more in the main story that you'd expect in this book. I wonder where he could go to connect with the main story... Axies was a cameo in Rysn's interlude in WoR, so he could easily be yet another cameo in someone else's for this book. Rysn was confirmed earlier, and Ash.. is a wild card at the moment, no idea where she would be.
  7. As Khyrindor said, dead Sprenblades are in Sword-Form because they are patterned after the Honorblades. This implies that they may have been just Swords. Yata and Reborn Radiant make a good point about the form-changing having to do with the Spren "AI". The fact that Szeth never mentions a voice like with a Live Sprenblade points towards them not having it. I think Brandon could make it work if he wanted to. For example: Only a Herald could do it because of their perfect bond with it and/or tremendous mental control, but they never thought to try it until the KR showed that it was possible. Then by that time they were so used to using the sword that they just kept with it(they don't exactly have downtime to train with the spear in Braize) All that having been said, I do not believe we have anything directly stating either way at this time. It remains possible until we are told it can't in some way.
  8. @ErikModi The problem with that is that Brandon has described Resonance as "things that do not add up from simple the "you get this power plus this power"." What you are mentioning is something that I would describe as "this power plus this power." That said, the synergies of the various Twinborn combinations would be a fantastic discussion thread of its own... so much potential As a side-note: we know that you could store the strength granted by A-Pewter in a Metalmind, so it stands to reason that you could probably use pewter to help keep your body strong while storing health.
  9. Brandon was asked about what time of day the Recreance occurred a few years ago, and his response was that the answer would have to wait until he properly wrote the scene. Besides confirming that he would in-fact write out the Recreance later on, this allows us to do a bit of Speculation about when such a scene would be written. The Recreance itself would either be a flashback, a vision, or a dream sequence. Flashback Recreance could only be from Shalash's perspective, since Taln was in Braize and everyone else wasn't born yet. Vision Recreance would be via Honor(through the Stormfather) or Cultivation. A Stormfather Vision should be in Dalinar's book if it happens. Cultivation is a wild card, and probably the only way we could get a dream sequence of it would be via her interfering. (Lift or Renarin's book is where I'd put my bets for this one)
  10. A Speed Bubble and a Slow Bubble will cancel each other out like a Venn Diagram, since one bubble is bigger than the other. Multiple Bubbles of the same type will compound the effect and double. Now to bring up Kurkistan's Thread(as that's our source of these WoB's):
  11. Not exactly. The Forms are Spren Specific, the Rhythms exist separately. Most Spren should work for making a Form, but all the Spren that do not have a specific Form tied to them will make the Listener enter Dullform (Which makes me wonder if there is a specific Spren that grants Dullform on purpose...) Anyway, all the Rhythms are a Spiritual thing(confirmed via the WoB Extesian posted yesterday) and they all exist simultaneously. Some Forms grant new Rhythms (Stormform grants access to the Rhythm of Derision, for example) and some Rhythms get.. replaced(upgraded?) when you adopt a new Form. Anticipation became Craving, /something/ became Spite, etc.. I don't think Stormform blocked access to any of the old rhythms, except for the ones that got replaced. Going from Stormform back to Warform would block access to the new rhythms granted by the former. Well, its entirely possible for a Listener to bond an Honor/Cultivation Spren since they can bond an Odium Spren. If (and How) Eshonai could become a Radiant is the subject of many theories on here.
  12. I'm not 100% sure what you are asking, but there seems to be a misconception in your statement: Forms are not Rhythms. As for your question, some forms existed before the Shattering. I don't think Odium actually created new forms so much as his arrival created his Spren. Parshendi can bond to any Spren, and some of his actually worked without becoming Dullform.
  13. What makes that any different from from an Inquisitor's Eyespike? We know that they can survive having one removed, and any wound can theoretically heal around something to become "just a hole" after enough time. IIRC, there is never any mention of blood when a spike is removed except for Penrod(who is a special case). Basically, The Sovereign is right about the Spiritual Aspect being where the magic happens () but Brandon had to take a liberty about the "needs moving blood in order to work" thing so that Vin (and others) wouldn't just bleed out
  14. Further clarification (I don't care that this one happened first ) The Spiritual Quadrant manipulates spiritual attributes. The Spiritual Realm is location independent, so an attribute that is held there can be messed with anywhere if you have a power that can touch it. Seems to fit with why all the various types of healing work in more or less the same way, since they all draw on the Spiritual Ideal/Template of Health, and it gets filtered through the Cognitive/magic type afterwards. I imagine that's whats Brandon is saying in the WoB about Hoid. If he has F-Chromium, he could fund his prescience with it. If he doesn't, then he's got another magic that can. The Ire certainly seem to know that it can be done, and the above WoB just testified that they weren't talking about Feruchemy
  15. But Rosharan days are 20 hrs long through. Edit: I looked up the old thread since the math wasn't adding up. Rosharan hours are shorter than ours. Thank you Moogle. My math (actually functional now) So now that my math is sound, I still end up questioning your 17.52 hrs per day.
  16. You are correct Extesian. It was clarified last November It only has the tag of 'Feruchemy', so half of us wont find it without creative use of Ctrl + F
  17. More specifically the underlying Spiritual Mechanic that Feruchemical Chromium operates on. Hoid doesn't actually have Feruchemy, at least by Brandon's more recent clarifications
  18. We do know. Robardin's got a good memory. Also, spoiler tags for Stormlight Archive related WoB.
  19. I don't think we have a WoB that states it beyond the shadow of a doubt, but Brandon has said that Plate was offered to all of them in the past, and some individuals refused it. So every Radiant had access to it, which makes it seem quite likely to be an aspect/side bonus of the Nahel Bond. Regarding Dalinar specifically, perhaps the Bondsmiths were among those individuals who turned down the offer of Plate in the past.
  20. I don't think the Cinematic Cosmere will ever go beyond Sanderson's books unless he finishes the entire story and they want to continue past that point. We make jokes on here that Brandon writes his books faster than we can read them. I'm fairly certain that we read a heck of a lot faster than movie studios can pump out sequels. Although, if the fans are clamoring for a Warbreaker II movie...
  21. (As I don't like the "clearly Ishar is the traitor guy from the diagram" stuff) I personally feel that while they may have been planning it beforehand, the evidence points towards it being a spur of the moment thing near the end. I can't speak for if Taln knew, but Kalak was not aware that they were planning to give up. For all the other 7 knew, Kalak died too, since Jezrien was also the only one who didn't leave him behind. More than likely Ishar learned that Taln was dead from some scout or runner(which could be how Jezrien knew where he died) and Ishar made the decision to test his theory. He told whichever others were there at the time, and they agreed. This assumed the agreement or death of any Heralds not yet present at the Circle of Blades, like Kalak and presumable at least one more did (Roshar.. heck, even Shinovar is a big place, it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for some to have longer treks back to the Circle) So if by some circumstance that only Ishar and Jezrien survived, it depends on whether Ishar knows that. If he could reasonably assume that at least half of the Heralds survived then he might go through with it, but once he learned that they were the last two.. I feel that he might reconsider.
  22. I had an idea on Ishar's insanity earlier. He threatened to "destroy each and every [KR], unless they agreed to be bound by precepts and laws." Now that the Recreance has happened, his addled mind may consider that as the KR not agreeing to be bound by the Ideals, and he needs to keep his word to destroy them and fabricated an idea that Nalan would believe so that Ishar could use him as the instrument of carrying out his threat.
  23. Not sure if I can speak for the middle ages time, but one of the things that always gets mentioned in Harry Potter lore is that the Wizarding World keeps itself hidden out of fear. A shotgun has better odds of being immediately lethal than a fireball, sniper rifles out-range the killing curse, almost no spells in Harry Potter seem to be capable of killing multiple people at once like muggle bombs/missiles are... It's a larger scale version of the "We didn't invade the USA because they've got a shotgun hiding behind every blade of grass" analogy from the past. I don't know what tech level your normal human society is at, but if it's reached the point where tech beats magic then no mages are taking control in the open. All else fails, you could go the infighting route. If you are willing to kill the competition to seize the throne, there will always be others willing to do the same. Taking the "King" title and setting yourself above the others just paints a target on your back, so most of your Mages have become smart enough not to do that.
  24. We don't actually know if he created them, merely forced them to be bound by the words, or even if he just forced them to be bound by oaths and the Spren came up with the specifics. What we do know is that the Heralds were not similarly bound by those Oaths, and they didn't need to be. They were driven by a higher purpose (which only lasted for so long, but that's been discussed already.) The Oathpact was their Oath, plain and simple. Ramifications of breaking that oath are unclear, but...
  25. They still put a lot of stock in medicinal understanding beyond just combat surgery though. Kaladin knows how to cure(or at the very least help fight) several diseases/infections. It's one of the things that sets him apart from the others in the slave wagon scene (about "the grindings" I think) there are several others with names that I cannot recall, but the fact that they are more healthy doesn't mean they don't have any sicknesses
