  1. Notice to the thread - on Monday, I start a new morning position, as opposed to my current swing shift position. As a result, rollover times will be changing in the near future. Day 2 (the current day), Night 2, and Day 3 will remain on the current schedule. Night 3 will be extended by 13 hours, such that rollover will occur at 13:00 (1:00 PM) on Monday, 5/23, Mountain Daylight Time. All future cycles will rollover at 13:00 MDT. I will continue to provide countdowns for each cycle - they will be authoritative. Also, Day 2's writeup may be delayed by a few hours due to work constraints. I will provide more information when I have it.
  2. You are not made known of failed Investiture attempts. If a Shard attempts to invest in another Shard, the only one who will know is the Shard that invested. If Odium's Champion attacks a Shard (or if Odium attacks a non-Shard after having made a Champion), the attacks will fail and will not be mentioned in the writeup.

  4. Day 2: Highstorm's Fury Valan Quivar wandered the streets of Hallandren. It was high summer in the God-King's city, and he felt at peace. The power within him quivered to be loose, but he suppressed it with a laugh. After all, he was free from that Braize-cursed pact, and he had escaped Odium. And, after all, wasn't Odium working with the Coalition now, to end Hoid's offensive? Life was good in Hallandren. Even if you were the Shard of Honor. Without warning, a dark stormcloud rose in front of him, trailing black mist. In shock, he recognized the power. Ruin. From the cloud issued a gleeful voice. "Valan Quivar, you traitor. I have caught you at last!" Valan struggled against the wind, willing his innate power to life to protect him. But, after so long suppressed, it responded only slowly. Dark lightning crackled from the cloud, and Valan Quiver fell, to rise no more. ----------------------------------------------------------- Nijza trudged through the sands of Taldain. She hated Dayside. Far too few green and growing things for her taste. Well, if she had her way, she would change that. She was powerful enough to reshape the world into a garden paradise, if she wanted to. And if she could get Bavadin to not hinder her, of course. That was always the problem with interfering in other Shardworlds. Her companion stopped to rest, and she turned impatiently to him. The first bolt of red lightning struck her from behind, throwing her a full hundred bodylengths before she came to rest on the blinding white sand. Pain shot through her whole form as she struggled to rise from the earth. The second bolt turned the sand beneath her hands to glass, ripping an involuntary shriek from her throat and blinding her vision. She could feel her Shard straining against the force pressing in on it. "Odium! What treachery is this?" "Treachery, my dear Cultivation? Did you really think that I could so easily lay to rest millennia of hatred towards you? Millennia of battle, while you strove to protect your dear, noble, naive Tanavast from me? Did you think I would lay that aside, just because some upstart worldhopper claims to want to reforge God? I am Hatred, Cultivation. And you are mine." Her blinded eyes filling with tears from the pain, she opened her mouth to reply. The third bolt of lightning shattered her power into splinters, silencing her forever. ----------------------------------------------------------- Seznith Seridanon was a simple man. His life had been a simple life in Arelon, before Honor found him. Simple tasks, simple responsibilities. Hard, but simple. Truth be told, it was still a simple life. The oaths he had sworn to were simple enough. Life before death, strength before weakness, journey before destination. Simple enough in theory. Practice, now. That was anything but simple. But he liked it that way. The oaths were simple restrictions with complex effects. One day, he was sure he could reduce them all down to a single formula. That was why, engrossed in his research, he never saw the assassin coming. His spren cried a warning a little too late, and the knife plunged into his back. It turned out that death, too, was simple. ----------------------------------------------------------- Valan Quivar (Quiver) has been killed. He was a Vessel holding the Shard of Honor! Nijza (Nyali) has been killed. She was a Vessel holding the Shard of Cultivation. Cultivation has been Shattered! Seznith Seridanon (Kynedath) has been killed! He was a Knight Radiant! Day 2 has begun! It will end in 48 hours.
  5. Shard deaths will show up in the writeup only if the person who dies holds the Shard at their time of death. If a Returned has an extra life (from Survival or any other method) when they use their Returned action or Endowment removes her Investiture, then they lose that life. They continue to survive beyond that until they are attacked or lynched. EDIT: A Returned cannot be brought back a second time.
  6. If Meta was Hoid, and voted on Wilson in thread, but voted for Stink in secret, the writeup would look like this (assuming no other votes): Wilson (0): Metacognition Stink (1): None If Meta did not vote in thread, but voted for Stink in secret, the tally would look like this: Stink (1): None The writeup is done to suit my creative mood, I do not guarantee the accuracy of any particular scenario presented there. I do not guarantee its inaccuracy either - but the writeup is done to provide flavor and mood, and is not intended to be a fully accurate representation of events. The only portion guaranteed to be accurate (minus GM mistakes) is the Vote Tally, and any dead players.
  7. You don't want to know the answer to that question... But I'm glad you're enjoying it!

  9. Night 1: A Silence of Forboding Silence fell over the assembled Shards at the final pronouncement. The return of the Wanderer had not been completely unlooked for, but it was certain that he represented a far more implacable foe than the Coalition had ever before faced. Even Odium, the Shard of Hatred, was only a force of nature, after all; an embodiment of Divine Enmity, with no personal feeling attached to it. And the Intent of a Shard had made him predictable, too. Such predictability was what had won their last two wars against him. But the Wanderer of Worlds, weak in power though he might be compared to the rulers of the Cosmere, was something far more dangerous. No longer quite mortal, but not confined by the strictures that bound the Shards, he was motivated by a feeling far more subtle than hatred. None assembled there could quite ascertain quite what it was, that inner drive that had led their foe on a crusade to reassemble the Shattered God of creation. Perhaps some delusion of grandeur, or some sense of justice. Maybe even a tinge of regret; he had, after all, been complicit in the death of the God to begin with. Of one thing, however, the Shards were certain. Whatever ethereal feeling motivated this madman's crusade to reform Adonalsium, his push to strip them of their power was born of one feeling only. Revenge. Endowment, Shard of Gifts, broke the silence first. "The Wanderer is cunning. How shall we find him? There are many worlds in the Cosmere, and he is skilled at remaining unseen, even against our sight." A voice rasped from the head of the long table. "Are there not many mortals who move among the worlds? They have eyes and ears, and are not as easily blinded as you think." "But there are undoubtedly many of his followers among them. We would risk crippling our own effort..." The speaker was cut off with a curt gesture. "It is undoubtedly so. The weak will fall. The strong will survive. The mortals will find him, or they will not. It will be as their own wills make it." Dominion, Shard of Lordship, nodded in response. "And, after all, is it not best to dispose of the madman's followers along with him? Though without his leadership, they are far less likely to achieve their goal, still we ought to disabuse them of the notion that the Coalition can be opposed with impunity." With those words, the Council voted. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The back alleys of Elantris were not unlike back alleys anywhere in the Cosmere, Gorl mused to himself. The worldhopper smiled as he passed the hours waiting for his quarry. The organization of worldhoppers was loose, of necessity, since the 17th Shard had been subverted by Hoid. A disaster, that had been. But there remained enough bands of communication that when the word had gone out that Hoid was returned, Gorl knew almost immediately. After much discussion with his fellow worldhoppers, they had settled on a single target. The Nameless had always been a loner, and so it was perhaps inevitable that the suspicion of his fellows had landed on him. But, after all, where better for a disciple of Hoid to hide than a lonely wanderer who seldom made contact with others? A form darkened the other entrance of the alleyway. Gorl looked up. The Nameless walked hesitantly in, eyes scanning everywhere for threats. Cautious, as he should be, Gorl thought approvingly. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to save him. The forms of other worldhoppers emerged from the shadows nearby, hidden by various means. The Nameless died without a sound. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tindomë never heard it coming. A bright light flashed in front of her eyes, along with a sudden pain in her chest. As her eyes cleared, she saw a ragged open wound in her body. Her sight fading, she looked up to see her attacker, shock on his face. "I didn't mean to do that," he mumbled quietly. Then, darkness took her. The Nameless (Trelagist) has been lynched! He was a Worldhopper. Tindomë (Elbereth) has been killed. She was a Mastrell and Agent of Autonomy who held the Stick and Suicidal Analyst meta-roles. Vote Tally: Mark IV (1): Araris Mailliw (1): Conquestor Amanuensis (3): Phattemer, Lopen Young Bard (2): Paranoid King, leiftinspace Trelagist (6): Nyali, DeathClutch, cloudjumper, Mailliw, Young Bard, Elbereth Deathclutch (1): Sheep cloudjumper (1): Amanuensis Night 1 has begun! It will end in 24 hours. PMs will be sent out shortly.
