  1. @Dalinar Kholin First, a correction. I do have a vote on someone - Doc12. It's in one of my earlier posts. Second, as to why I removed my vote from you, I got the discussion I wanted from you. You explained your logic, I explained mine, and I decided to follow my own advice, and look at the people that sealed Devotary's fate by keeping their votes on them. Doc12 seemed like a good choice, since he was also part of the bandwagon on Araris on day one.
  2. If Dev was village, then he would have had no reason to lie. If he was an eliminator, then it could have staved off death by another cycle and all but shut down discussion for a cycle (assuming someone else came forward to counterclaim). I mean, isn't that the key thing for an eliminator? Time? The longer they survive, the better chance they have of winning. The only way a ploy like that could fail is if someone counterclaimed by the end of the turn, and enough people saw to swing the vote then and there, or as what happened here, not enough people saw the claim, or were moved enough by it to remove their votes. I think we should be looking more at the people that assured Devotary's death, rather than someone else trying to survive. If the Spaniard's scan was to detect alignment, instead of target specific, or even if we had had some confirmation of the role, then yeah, it might have been worth it. But for a simple claim to a key role, in a desperate attempt to divert the lynch? I'd have done the same as Rand. Dalinar. Edit: Hi Drake, welcome to the game Edit 2: Upon further examination of the thread, I think I'm going to put my vote on Doc12. He was the 4th vote in the Araris lynch, didn't vote in the second cycle, but was also the third vote on Devotary, and didn't remove it after her claim. Even if he is a villager, he has a 100% rate of lynching our heroes... and that's inconceivable.
  3. Elbereth is definitely Miracle Max, as in she has claimed, and there have been no counterclaims. That's about as definite as we can get, I think. That said, if I were Max, and Elbereth claimed, I'd let her since she was attacked, as was Roadwalker in cycle one. That isn't a good record for someone else coming out and claiming.
  4. If Devotary was evil, the real Spaniard would know, true. There is no guarantee that they would come forward though. Think about it. Dev claims Spaniard, someone else comes forward and counterclaims. One gets lynched, and the other is targeted by the Eliminators that very night, just to be sure, since the Spaniard has not only a limited kill, but also a limited scan. I think you're making some mistakes here in the Spaniard's abilities. Their kill can only be used on the Count, and their scan can only be used to identify the Count. So, he couldn't kill Devotary, unless it turned out Devotary was the Count, claiming to be the Spaniard. You say 'no village would want to lie to everyone,' and yet I point out again that this very thing happened in day one. Your arguments are not convincing me. Edit: Something else I just noticed. You also point out that Rand doesn't make much of an effort to defend himself. I have acquired votes from people in the past, because I was defending myself too much. Get voted on if you don't defend yourself, get voted on if you do defend yourself... Is it any wonder why he didn't say much?
  5. Quoting @randuir I don't know. There might have been, but if so, it was Walin. The only other person was Roadwalker, and he's already been outed and killed as Fake Max. Then along comes Araris, and suddenly is a clear leader in the death count. Seemed a bit dodgy to me, and honestly, I've not been that impressed with the excuses I've heard as to why people suddenly thought it was a good idea to lynch Araris. Also, something that strikes me as quite entertaining in this game. Why are so many people so willing to believe a claim, simply because it was made? Devotary was, at least, being honest in her claim, yet the very first claim made this game was a lie, apparently accepted by all that didn't know the truth, including the eliminators since it looks like they had Road killed for making said claim. So, @Dalinar Kholin - Why would it seem strange to you that Randuir would throw the lynch to the iocane rules to protect himself, when we had no proof at all that Devotary's claim was true? I'd have done the same, and suspect the vast majority of players would do likewise. Would you be willing to risk your life for something that may or may not be true? Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but doesn't help before the event happens, in this case, a lynch. Dalinar. For the time being, at least. Why would you expect someone to sacrifice themselves for an unconfirmed claim? Edit: If what Rand points out about the day one lynch is true, then what do you guys think of Walin? Suspiciously evil, or not? Edit 2: I also noticed that Dalinar made a comment about vote manipulations. He's not the first to do so (I saw another a few days ago, by Fifth, I think it was), yet, barring secret roles and rules, there are no vote manipulation roles in the game. So, he either knows something that the rest of us don't, or I suppose he might have meant that the elims had no rum or daggers, but they are all one use only, so would they have been used? Let me ask, what would our reaction have been today, had Randuir suddenly been saved by a vote being changed or cancelled? We'd have lynched them immediately, with no discussions, and we might have been right or we might have been wrong to do so... Actually, Dalinar, I think I've just talked myself into believing you might be right about the elims and their lack of rum and daggers. I mean, elim or not, we would have lynched Rand today, had he been saved from the last lynch by way of manipulation, so an elim team which could still manipulate votes could have used this to get an innocent Rand lynched, thus buying themselves time.
  6. See, nursery rhymes. That's more at my mental capacity right now, lol. Not sure if it means CadCom is claiming Man in Black there, or Eliminator...
  7. I'll admit, I'm finding them a bit heavy going too. Not bad, they are great posts, but they are taking me a while to get through. Also, now it is night, I have been able to verify Elbereth's claim. I set her (I think) a challenge that only Max would pass. When I yelled "Humperdink! Humperdink! Humperdink Humperdink!" at her, she covered her ears. So, I now totally believe her claim.
  8. @Steeldancer - I see my vote is missing. Did you miss it, or did something block me?
  9. I think for tonight I'm going to put my vote on Doc12. I'm still quite suspicious of most of the people that sealed Araris' death - I just think it's possible that one is an eliminator using day one randomness to push someone they know is innocent into the lynch. And out of the last three votes on him, HH has mostly explained himself, Fifth, I've got a relatively village vibe from him, and @Doc12 hasn't been on at all. I don't expect he'll die from this, but will hopefully join in a bit more. I do have a few other suspicions. Nothing major, only little things, but I'm too tired to go into them tonight. Good night
  10. Well, I've read through everything, and am glad the day has been extended by 24 hours. It means I can reread it again before I decide who to vote for. Currently, I have no strong elim reads on anyone, hence wanting the reread, but part of me wonders if Elbereth really is Max. I could see this turning into a total "I'm Brian" moment... "I'm Max!" "No, I'm Max!" "I'm Max, and so's my wife!" Oh, I think I know how to confirm Max, switching to PMs to be sure... Edit: Actually, before I do that... Are PMs night only?
  11. @Devotary of Spontaneity - I just finished reading the elim doc, and I thought your monologues were great.
  12. Without hindsight, pretty much all lynches have merit. The point of them is to gain information, and regardless of who gets lynched, information is provided. I do find it rather dubious that so many people would jump onto the bandwagon though, especially for day one. This is why I was asking for reasoning. To see if there was anything particular about why so many went for Araris. Of course, with hindsight, lynching the Princess was a really bad move. I'll be placing my vote soon, probably on one of Araris' voters, but I'm going to see who has the excuse I feel is weakest.
  13. Good game. Well played all. Especially Fifth, who seemed to put all of the pieces together. Also, now the game is done, what happened to Orlok? Banished with the Encanis?
  14. That's fair, and is also why I included the other two, since they helped seal his fate too.
  15. This has to be the best bit of wordplay so far, in my mind at least. WIP Araris, being West in Peace, I'm guessing, but also, Work in Progress, since he is only mostly dead. @ElephantEarwax - Brilliant.
  16. Quote from the day cycle from @randuir I had no idea. I have had a hectic weekend on far too little sleep. I've looked in on the thread a few times, but hadn't had time to really read anything. My vote selection was literally pull up the player list, close my eyes, prod at the screen, that one (Edit: Ok, no, rereading day one reminded me, even poking the screen seemed too much effort, so I chose from the top of the list). Just so happened to be Walin. If I did nearly get him lynched because of this, then I am sorry. i would have said it was not my intention, but at the time I wasn't even thinking that much. This is the first I've been on since, and although no longer mostly dead, I am still slightly dead. I'll be more active from now on, but I want to take the time to read what's happened so far. Then I'll be back with comments. Edit 2: @Doc12 - You are reading too much into this. I had no idea who had been voted for or why. I just wanted to get a vote in since I couldn't remember if there was a penalty for not voting - I really need to reread the rules too, they're next. Out of everyone so far, I am most curious about @Hemalurgic Headshot @Doc12 and @Fifth Scholar - Why did you feel it so necessary as to stack votes on Araris, and sealing his (mostly) death?
  17. Hi guys. Sorry I've not been active yet, but it's been a long weekend without much sleep, and I'm too tired to think about this. I'm planning on getting a decent night's sleep tonight, and will take a look then. Until then, since I should probably vote for someone, Walin, since he's at the top of the list.
  18. Eternum. So, having had a look at these threads, and trying to do some analysis, and then taking into account the voting that's already been done, I think I'm going to throw my vote behind Megasif. I don't like how he, Itiah, and Xino just seem to be skating by, and suspect at least one of them of being an Eliminator. Not sure which one though, so adding my vote to the one that already has a few votes seems like a good idea.
  19. 19 players in the cast yesterday, and 19 today. Looks like no-one disappeared overnight again. I also note that someone bought off one of the votes on Arinian - 8 votes but 9 voters. For now, and to get the ball rolling, I am voting for Eternum. Don't worry, this is only temporary until I can find time to do some proper analysis and talk to some people.
  20. Fifth Scholar. It's enough for me, thanks I think one of the things about the early stage of any cycle in this game is that there aren't many of us on early. Most of our players are US-based, so at the start of the cycle, we pretty much just have the Europeans to talk to (not that I know if either Elandera or Wonko are European, but it's still pretty quiet until people start coming online). So, yeah, you're likely to see more interaction between a couple of people at the start of the cycle, before most players are out of bed, than later in the cycle, when more people are talking.
  21. Or, rather than being something suspicious, that initial conversation could just have been Wonko showing off his KKC knowledge for someone who has never read the books. I'll admit, it does seem to have been a bad choice of people to banter with, but how was I supposed to know they were both Elims? As for an "unnaturally long conversation," are we supposed to limit our interactions now? "Oh, sorry, I must move on. We've reached our banter quota for the day!" Not to mention that it would be pretty stupid of me to banter with two others who were both Eliminators, right at the start of day one where it will draw attention, if I were another Eliminator. do you not agree? Also, it takes no effort to remove a vote from someone. No thought at all. So, why would I leave my vote on Elandera if I'm awake to see the end of the first cycle? Yes, I was sleepy at the time, having just woken up, which is why I didn't bother looking to redirect my vote, but simply removing it is easy. If I was an Eliminator, do you not think I'd have saved my teammate by simply retracting my vote? It might have drawn suspicions later in the game, if Elandera did finally die, but it would have saved a fairly major Eliminator role from being lynched on day one. Also, if I were an Elim, why would I draw attention back to the cycle one lynch to joke about how Elandera really shouldn't have insulted the tinkers? Is that not just asking for trouble? Edit: @Fifth Scholar - Your entire accusation seems to be based around my interactions with Elandera and Wonko in cycle one, yet at the very start of your post, you say you want to settle things with Young Blood sooner rather than later. In that circumstance, why go after me, instead of doing what you state you want to do? You even say your little feud is taking up a lot of thread space, yet that seems to be one of the concerns you have about my conversation with Elandera and Wonko - the amount of thread space it took up. I'd like to change my vote to Fifth Scholar please, for his illogical logic.
