  1. Thanks Quantus
  2. We know that the Intent of a Shard can corrupt the Vessel holding it, but can this work in reverse? If you had someone who was somehow immune to being changed by the Shard they are holding, could that person then influence the Intent of the Shard?
  3. Maybe a bit late to say so, but best of luck! I'm planning advertising this month, handing in my resignation at the start of March, then from April, I'm becoming a full time D&D Dungeon Master
  4. I don't think I could come up with trailer ideas anywhere near as good as those in this thread, but I do like the idea of having taglines on posters... WoK: Loved the imagery of Kaladin standing over Honor Chasm with Syl for this one. Caption: Life Before Death WoR: Again, loved the whole Shallan standing alone in front of the deserters image for this one. Caption: Strength Before Weakness OB: Dalinar and Shallan summoning the world map together. Caption: Journey Before Destination RoW: Navani and Raboniel running experiments. Caption: You Bastard!
  5. Not much opportunity for roleplaying in the world due to being alone, but for a good escape from reality game, try Subnautica. You're the sole survivor in a starship crash, and you've got to explore, build stuff, and find out what happened, and what to do about it. Practically entirely open world, with very few prompts, and fantastic scenery.
  6. We've got this one... And this one...
  7. Guessing that means Jasnah and Taln are a thing in WoK Prime. Shame, but I could actually see that working. Even so though, we do know Brandon has changed a lot of WoK Prime stuff for Stormlight Archives, so you never know.
  8. Upvote, just for the pun... I don't think it has. I think there is room for them both. Maybe it won't happen until we get to the Jasnah flashback book, but I think it'll happen.
  9. I can totally see that. I don't want to see the back of him either, but this would make for a spectacular twist around book 8 or 9.
  10. I had a thought about this question, and I may have an answer for you. Forgive the slight RoW spoilers... The new guards, staff, and quarries Lin "discovered," plus speculation from Shallan's point of view suggest that Lin Davar and the Ghostbloods were likely making a play for the throne of Jah Keved. That would put the corrupted Lin in charge of a country, giving Odium an immediate stronghold when the Desolation started. On top of this, though, what else do we know about the Ghostbloods? Specifically, their leader. Who he is and what he is will, I suspect, play quite the role in the Cosmere's future, given his ambitions and all that. Odium having someone on the inside of the Ghostbloods could be one part of a bigger plan to let him keep an eye on Kelsier. Kelsier is, like Odium, Connected to a specific system and looking for a way around this restriction. Makes sense to keep an eye on an enemy who is pursuing the same goal you are. Most of this is speculation, but it is speculation which makes sense to me. Sorry for the double post.
  11. Hey Doomslug, I love your avatar I think this might be an oversimplification of Lin's behaviour. We know that the Davar household was under the influence of one of the Unmade, so who is to say that Lin would have reacted the same way if not for the Unmade? I totally get where you're coming from, and under other circumstances would be there with you, but we do have this unknown entity doing something to mess up all their minds. We see how broken the Davar kids are, indeed, it's pointed out bluntly a few times, but that is never done with Lin. Brandon leaves out the damage done TO Lin to be overshadowed by the damage done BY Lin.
  12. Storms... Now that would be playing the really long game. It would be awesome!!! Or, instead of Adonalsium, imagine someone being able to hold Odium without being corrupted by it, and indeed, holding it to the standards of an Edgedancer, one of the Radiant orders most suited to caring. We know Shards can corrupt their vessels with their Intent... Can vessels corrupt the Shards too?
  13. Oh, and I almost forgot my own personal theory about where Kaladin will end up in the back five. @Blackwarder's post reminded me with his 5th Ideal... I think he'll be leading Alethkar, alongside Jasnah, as King and Queen.
  14. I seem to recall hearing somewhere, WoB, I think, that he has trouble acting because of the conflict between his two Shards, and also, that the imbalance isn't as bad as you may think because he has a vessel on Scadrial where he can store his extra Ruin "essence" (Marsh).
  15. I think Kaladin's 5th Ideal will reflect this. Windrunner Ideals are about protection and leadership, right? "I will lead Roshar in how to properly deal with mental health issues." I'm not expecting it to be quite this blunt about it, but I expect that his Ideal will be more about leading the way, and helping people outside of stabbing someone with a spear.
  16. I feel this is a good place to post... Amazon Prime has the Legend of Vox Machina (first three episodes at least) available for viewing now. And they are great! I never saw campaign 1, having only really started on Critical Role for campaign 3, but apparently, they've got the characterizations spot on.
  17. A comparison between two things. In this case, we can consider free range chickens to be "free" spren, and battery chickens to be "captive" spren. Maybe for the Sibling, it's not about the spren saying yes (because chickens can't, unless they're from Shinovar), but about keeping them in safe, non-torturous environments. But, as I said, that's the bit Navani and the Sibling will have to work out.
  18. Maybe it will look like an analogy between free range chickens and battery farming? I honestly don't know, but that's for Navani and the Sibling to work out.
  19. I'm reasonably sure that the Sibling won't have a problem with a fabrial... So long as the fabrial is created with the permission and consent of the spren inside. That's the bit that Navani is going to have to submit to, the Sibling's wishes that she stops tormenting captive spren. And I'm fairly sure this is also the case with greatshells. The spren they have aren't captive, but symbiotic.
  20. Yeah, the ten year gap does suggest that something will happen regarding fabrials. Whether or not it's a solution, or something else, we'll have to wait and see. And I'm not expecting Navani to compromise, but rather to be lectured at by the Sibling until she finally submits. Which is going to be interesting to see in its own right. Singers/Listeners do have gemhearts, and there is usually a spren living within it. Which spren they have determines which form they are in, with dullform being the only form which does not have a spren.
  21. First up, I think we're going to continue to see Navani and the Sibling arguing about this as the series progresses, but ultimately, I think we're going to see a mass freeing of the captured spren when the Sibling tells Navani how fabrials are supposed to work.
  22. Because that stranger was trying to kill her? Pattern doesn't care about Sylphrena, at least, not until they traveled together in OB. Or even likely know about her until then. But Pattern does care about Testament, which is what he's been talking about since WoK, dropping hints to Shallan. And Shallan did ask questions about the nature of the bond. You get to see a number of these conversations between them in the books. Granted, the information is not usually very forthcoming thanks to Pattern either not remembering, or claiming to not remember.
  23. Which God are you talking about? Also, if your God is the judge, why are you judging Lin? Or indeed anyone?
  24. So, could be the act of a child... Mental health issues... This is exactly my point about the worlds not being black and white. You say here you see everything in black and white, and then immediately start bringing up shades of grey.
