Hey guys, if you want up to date Shardcast info, get on Discord and check the Shardcast channel. I have made it clear there that my days have been extremely long this week and that this one would be out late Friday Pacific time. I have not had time to update every avenue and that avenue is the fastest up-to-date place for news. You should not expect Shardcast at specific times of days and I will say I don't particularly appreciate posts wondering where it is when I've been up until 1am every day this week working on everything. It's coming, I haven't forgotten, please be respectful of that. I am sorry I didn't have time to edit a bit more this week. My life is much busier and I will need to learn to schedule it all effectively. This week was especially hectic. This is probably just a pet peeve of mine where people ask where the episode is on Fridays constantly. But you know, I put a lot of hours into it, and I'm wasting my Friday evening doing this, so let's... cool it some. I have never promised when on Friday an episode has come.

Note that topics that have posts after Oathbringer's release would likely be fine to post in and we don't need to be extreme about letting newer members contributing to those discussions. @Weltall @RShara There is a balance to be made between not having dumb posts but also accessibility for new members

Hi all! Recently many new members have been posting in extremely old topics. Though we had always said that if there were useful things to add to a topic, topic necromancy could be productive, ultimately things many years ago before many WoBs or books had come out kind of render this moot. As such, I have closed many, many old topics in Book Discussion. Currently I've closed things older than 2017. I'll likely look into getting some sort of auto-closer thing, similar to how Reddit closes old threads after a certain time threshold. If you'd like to discuss material that pertains to an old topic, please feel free to make a new topic with your thoughts. If for any reason you as the topic owner would like your old topic to be reopened, this is also a thing we can do; just report the thread

Hello! I believe you must be referring to this topic: Which was made in 2016, discussion ended, then a person commented on later. Though I empathize with wanting to resurrect such a subject, I do not believe this is the right way to go about it. You are more than welcome to continue the discussion, but do realize that older discussion ended a long time ago. For a new topic to be made, I believe there should be something substantive to add, which then people may reply to. Please feel free to make such a topic! Hoid is obviously a valid discussion! Such a topic coming at things with Oathbringer and new knowledge? Sure, sounds good. But I will be closing this one as it is not really prompting discussion.

Well, your tests would be different now, since you've passed the post threshold to the Members group. Those older spam restrictions no longer apply. Still, even if you were in the New Member group you should be able to post anywhere.

You should have been able to post in other locations, but within the first two posts there can't be links, as an anti-spam precaution. I'll investigate. My wifi network is Scadrial and I have all my devices Scadrian themed, like my computer is Kredik Shaw, my Chromecast is Canton of Resource. So I like theming it around a particular planet.

That is not possible currently. I'm not sure in the new version which will be updated to... sometime. They used to be accessible on the main navbar, but very few people used them. There is not unlimited space on the top navbar so they were relegated to the dropdown. People didn't care about them. The feature may be removed at some point as it does increase our renewal costs for the software, and is again, quite underused.

Here's an interesting news piece from San Diego Comic Con. J. Michael Straczynski--of Babylon 5 and Sense8, and a big time TV writer--is working with Brandon Sanderson for a pilot for the USA Network. It's apparently an urban fantasy that JMS says "turns many of the standard tropes upside down." We seem to think this is potentially about Dark One, but we don't actually know. We were told Dark One was a portal fantasy--a person taken from Earth to another world--which isn't quite urban fantasy. This could be something different. It's hard to say at this stage. Edit: Brandon confirmed on Reddit yesterday that this is indeed related to Dark One! Brandon reports that Straczynski has been a lot of fun to work with, but he can't say much more for the time being. Regardless of what this is, I personally am extremely excited about this collaboration. Babylon 5 was one of my very favorite TV shows and I think JMS and Brandon would fit exceptionally well together. We don't know if JMS would work on the show past the pilot, and even if the pilot is produced, that doesn't mean the TV show will actually run. But here's hoping, right? Thanks to The Wertzone for bringing this to our attention! -
