Maybe we should be a bit clearer (it's still an evolving policy!) but we are just referring to stuff coming from events and signings for now.

Grass as a type just isn't really that good. It's weak to a lot and its strengths aren't really amazing either. Mediocre at best Like you aren't really going to use grass to counter water as you'd probably have an electric type anyway to beat flying, so it just seems superfluous. Grass types were okay for HM slaves though! Sometimes. I have strong, long held opinions about Pokemon games xD I'm going to go for the water/fairy. They have such good movesets! I am enamored.

The only thing I can think of is MisCon in Missoula. He hasn't mentioned anything on it or has it in his events page so I don't know.

But then you'd have to have a grass type. Ewww

Hey all I'm double posting for a very important notice. It has come to my attention that several bookstores have broken street date. We will not be allowing discussion on Edgedancer or other essays until Tuesday. We generally feel that preserving that will make the most people happy. If you're one of those lucky people with such a copy, cool! But let's preserve the release date and hold off on discussion until everyone can read it.

Kerry has told me about how awesome the Pokemon Sun and Moon starters are. I'd be avoiding it because I didn't really have too much time. But dang it I need Sun and Moon now.

Secret History is fairly different as just mentioning the main character of Secret History is a gigantic spoiler. The premise of the essays are not a spoiler in that respect. I really do not want to have a long period of time on essay spoilers. I do tend to think that the people who want to read the essays, the giant cosmere nerds, will eat them up very rapidly. They aren't exactly long reads.

I'm not sure what we want to do with the signed books. I think we can manage to figure out where they are, moreso than the random WoBs of the "so at this signing he said this" type thing, so they are not as significant of an issue. I want to comment on the database though. We are only having this policy here with the idea that this will be a useful structure to input things into a database easily. We are not intending to use the Events forum as a Theoryland replacement. I will say that we are sorry for not having Theoryland's database up to date. It has been difficult to stay on top of the many things that occur. Additionally, though we don't have anything to announce at the current time, much effort has been expended (with Weiry and Joe and others doing a lot of things) in exploring avenues for replacements of this database. We've done a lot of trial and error. One implementation is looking very promising. Someday we will likely have something to announce, and we hope you'll be thrilled about it, but for now there just isn’t anything to say. In the meantime this does make looking for quotes pretty bad during this interim period. For that, we are really sorry. Hopefully with having quotes from signings being relatively in the same spot this will be somewhat better. But the situation for doing considerable cosmere research and quote finding is quite dire, and we're sorry about that. So we're working on a permanent solution for collecting quotes, we promise. It is very much on our minds. The idea of having stuff from a given event in its respective event topic is to make sure people don’t have to look in multiple places to find everything, which should make cataloguing and research far simpler.

Well making a specific subforum is inefficient for a variety of reasons since the essays could pertain to a lot of different things. Isolating them is not going to work out well. I'm up for suggestions though.

Good question. That does seem to be the cases of non event stuff. Ideas? I'm not sure how we should handle those.

Maybe I need to edit this, because I didn't exactly intend this to be a "YOU MUST POST INFORMATION." I was more going for, "If you are sharing information, share here in the event topic first." I'm sorry if that wasn't clear. I should probably edit to try and remove that connotation. Obviously this is just here to help organize the chaos of lots of information rolling around. That's all. This isn't going to be a bannable offense, I'll just be slightly annoyed and PM them asking them to follow the rules. Not really a big deal! I really don't imagine anyone will deliberately flaunt the rules after such a PM. I suppose if someone like does it a ton of times, maybe I'd actually do some restrictions, but it's like the don't double post rule: you shouldn't do it, but we'll gently prod you about it rather than anything serious if it's an occasional thing. Though me taking the upvotes is a good idea, so I'll do that EDIT: I've edited some wording on the main post. Is this more acceptable? If not let me know, I'd like to get it right.

Hi all, We are codifying a rule regarding posting information from signings and events. We would like information from a particular signing or event into the relevant event topic. The reason for this is simple: it can be difficult for people researching sources and putting things into the interview database to find quotes if we distribute these across many topics. So if you are interested in posting info, please post it in the event topic. I know I personally have been guilty in the past of posting a cool quote I got in Cosmere Theories or something and not in the relevant event topic, so I understand that this has happened. But from now on let's post all info and all WoBs in the event topic corresponding to the event you got this info from. Should you want to make a post discussing a cool factoid in the main book discussion boards, feel free to post them there after you post the info in the event topic. If you see anyone posting facts in separate topics and not in the event topic, please press the Report button so we can move some stuff around! For each book tour we'll have a pinned topic pointing to each signing topic. Hopefully that helps. Let me know if you have questions or concerns.

Hey guys, I mentioned our plan for Arcanum Unbounded spoilers here briefly, but I wanted to solidly codify them so we are all on the same page. There will be an Edgedancer Spoiler Board in the Stormlight Archive forum for all your Edgedancer needs. For the first two weeks put the tag "[Edgedancer Spoilers]" in topic titles here. Content in Edgedancer will go through the usual spoiler policy which will mean that if you want to talk about said content in a place other than the spoiler board and other than Cosmere Theories, it must be flagged as spoilers. For general Arcanum Unbounded stuff regarding things like the essays you will probably want to put them in Cosmere Theories. Spoilers are okay, but mark topics with "[AU Spoilers]" for the first two weeks of release. We are generally treating these similar to WoBs, so we aren't making a subforum for this more general stuff. As always, work hard to avoid spoilers in the topic title as much as possible. Let me know if you have questions.

What a coincidence, I just got my Pixel XL last week! It's a really great phone. I'm not sure if it's worth the asking price but it is a very premium device. More premium than the Nexus 6P. Don't consider this that Nexus is dying, but just Google getting more control over stuff and making it more premium. They are nice. Now my Pixel has a screen flickering issue when on low brightness, so I probably have to RMA this particular one, but aside from that it's really great. I've personally never had issues with storage on a phone. 32GB is more than enough for me.

Has that happened? PM me ASAP. The answer to that is no, and also that would mean I need to send frantic emails to people to get that fixed.

I'm busy with a ton of things. If I'm gonna be honest this is low priority but sometime yes.

We have also known there were people prior to Rashek who held the Well of Ascension, though they didn't hold it in just the same way as Rashek and Vin did. They were more like protectors. I'll try and find the quote.

I don't have any inside knowledge on this matter but considering how much they have screwed up with big novels like Bands and Words of Radiance, I say good riddance. For Arcanum Unbounded I'd generally say that since the essays are a big draw any Look Inside could reveal them. So honestly I think it's a good thing it is disabled. You can get a feel for the essays with the Drominad essay that was released by Tor. EDIT: This may be because I'm an admin here and it has been a serious pain of people spoiling crap just because Amazon can't get their ducks in a row.

This idea does has some merit. I've been thinking on it and I lean towards no on this, because AMAs aren't the same as a new time member introducing themselves to the community. I am also hesitant to put a subforum on the very first forum in the list. That said I'm not super thrilled about the AMA location currently.
