  1. It probably does need some updating but it does have a lot of information on why categories are there and which type they are. Honestly writing that article down helped ME figure out what the crap was going on with that stuff, haha.
  2. I would say that Help:Categorization is important because it is the place where the entire list of categories is explained. I do not want that removed. It was a thing I wrote to be exhaustive and is important to keep. I spent a long time writing it. I will investigate the other ones later.
  3. So these questions on registration have various permutations. Others have different amounts for all of these values. So it doesn't mean anything. Also note, this doesn't mean different novels. Josh has a lot of copies of all the published books. A lot. Lastly, as for Sanderson related posters, I actually have the real valuable ones I have the #1 Allomantic table and #1 Feruchemical table print.
  4. Pagerunner is correct! All good.
  5. A little bit ago yes. The search table is being reindexed and so all should be fine soon. You shouldn't see error messages though, at least.
  6. Okay, that's really hilarious.
  7. It's on his profile!
  8. If anything I'm way more higher pitched, so that's amusing.
  9. Yes, that is surely what we meant to say! I am fairly certain that is factual. As an aside, thanks for listening and I hope the audio quality is good this time. I wanted to do this method last time but it didn't work out.
  10. Hey guys, we posted a new Shardkeepers on the AU essays: If you have a listen and have extensive comments, let's discuss it here!
  11. We said there would be a December episode, and here we are on New Year's Eve with one! This month we have an extra long episode as well: over an hour and twenty minutes digging through the Arcanum Unbounded essays and picking apart everything in them. Shockingly, we were more than able to talk about these for a very long time. We dig through each of Khriss's essays. I feel we could have even talked longer, but I'm sure we will mention them a lot in the future. We also learn that I can't pronounce at least a thing, and Ian proves me wrong (fine, you win this time), showing he is probably the most competent one here. Let us know what you think in our forum thread: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/57421-shardkeepers-podcast-arcanum-unbounded-essays/ And if you hadn't seen it, the Star Chart. Our Hosts: Kerry (KChan), Ian (WeiryWriter), David (Windrunner), and Eric (Chaos)
  12. Well, Odium wanted to be the only Shard left and be the most powerful being in the cosmere. It's not hard to imagine why he felt threatened by the Shard Ambition
  13. Too bad I wasn't in Montana for this holiday season. Idaho Falls would not be a long drive for me (a mere four hours). Sorry
  14. I am looking to move but no offense the South was not a place on my radar Yeah sometimes I go too fast, but most times I never get all of the section done that I need to anyway, so what can you do. Some people like things slowly, but you just can't afford that and they need to come into office hours for more individual attention. Student evaluations can be difficult. It is like getting critique on a novel. Brandon says you should throw out 3/4ths of critique there, and that's fairly true here. For example a lot of the time you get conflicted stuff. "I like that he's loud, wakes me up in the morning." "He's too loud." What are you supposed to do with that? There are usually things you can fix but most comments are not that helpful. Some people like my jokes, others don't. That's fine. Not everyone likes every teacher.
  15. Okay I was going to be all, "ugh why is there a new thread" but it turned it to be funny. So this time I'll let it slide

Currently accelerating the progress on a new Reading Excuses mod. I have made contact with Silk and we discussed a few matters. She has generally been very sick and very busy. I hope to have things sorted out soon. My sincerest apologies for my delays.
  17. I tend to agree there would only be one. But, who knows, we don't know the full mechanics of how those are made and why. I tend to think that only one pool is actually Cultivation's. But they don't need to be pools. I think the Pits were kind of weird in that respect, and obviously Honor's being in a highstorm and moving indicates they aren't always pools. Again, it is quite hard to say as we don't have full knowledge of the mechanics involved. How much of a Shard's influence must be on a planet for one to form? I don't think Trell has actually Invested on the planet directly--as in, no Scadrian has Innate Investiture from there, or something. So I tend to lean towards there not being such a perpendicularity of Trell. But hard to say.
  18. Hah! There must be Perpendicularities post Catacendre. (Apparently it is "easy" to get to Scadrial in this interview, which I imagine is just true after the first trilogy.) While I expect there to just be a single Perpendicularity, there very well could be two.
  19. Really great work transcribing this! I think with the House Venture having some members who worldhop, Felt is obviously one of those. But we saw Felt after the destruction of Hathsin. So I wonder how he got into the Harmony perpendicularity (or perpendicularities) later to worldhop to Roshar and other places.
  20. Cut + paste What are you thinking?
  21. I'd tend to prefer redirects. (The redirects should be properly categorized, so I'm with you there. Redirects should usually have relevant categories.) I'm not opposed to some languages having their own pages, but it would need to be a proper, meaty article. If there is a language that does deserve more than a section, then that would work. With those scripts, it does seem reasonable to merge them into a language article. And you are indeed right about languages spoken by multiple nations. It just kind of depends. I know for Aonic there exists a crappy page for it (that currently is referring to the ethnicity), and language information could be there. But in the case of Aonic in particular, it could be a bit tricky to not duplicate too much from the Aon article. So, I'd say redirect usually, but on a case by case basis there can be a language page. I think merging scripts with a general language article seems very reasonable.
  22. Well how would you like me to phrase Lord of the Rings so I exclude the Hobbit and Silmarillion, and other things like that?
  23. Guys, I'm triggered. So you know how I teach college students, right? Well, I gave my final today, and I want to complain. You see, as an instructor my goal with exams is for students to show what they know. I don't believe in ridiculously hard exams that are curved like crazy. I like straightforward exams where students can show off that they do know things. To this end I made sure this final had problems that were stated very clearly. "Use Green's Theorem to compute this". "Use Stokes' Theorem to compute this." "Use the divergence theorem to compute this." I am basically instructing them onto the path on how to do the problem. Do teachers somewhere else phrase things this way, but students just think that's there to trick them? Because when I tell you to freaking use the theorem, that's because the problem is way way easier if you do it this way. It's the difference between a three line, standard problem, and you doing a full page problem. I am telling you what to do to save you time! That's like if I cooked people free food and they slap it away because they want to cook the exact same meal themselves, just because. Don't you want free food! There is even a problem where part a of the problem has you compute a quantity, and in part b, we say, "Compute this using your result from part a." And yet, people totally ignore this even though they usually compute the first part totally correctly. It is mind blowing. Shockingly, you'll never guess what happened. Because people spent their effort doing things the directions explicitly told them to not do, the exam seemed too long. Whoa! Maybe we should have read the instructions or something. I'm dying a little inside.
  24. This thread is not for general editor-related issues. As I said, I am at the behest of IPS and future software updates might fix things, but I can't do anything about it, really.
  25. I mean the editor is always iffy... We are mostly at the mercy of the software suite here. There will be some software fixes soon so maybe that would help but who knows.
