Arvis walked hesitantly forward and Rian followed. The third guard - Igor - stood and followed as well. Igor put his hand on Arvis's shoulder. "I'm right behind you, friend."

As soon as Caden left the ballroom and the Ravenness's sight, his confidence seemed to visibly boost. He didn't speak a word until he found a team of his own men, not some of the pitiful castle guard. "One squad, take these three fools and hold them in the dungeon until I can deal with them! The other will take this child and secure her until I return from checking on the King, am I clear?"

The men nodded, and they moved to take custody of the people as directed. Caden glanced towards the child, "I am not that monstrous Ravenness child, but you will be questioned when I return, and I expect you to answer what I ask." Caden then stormed off to get to the King's location in order to be sure that he was secure. That meeting with the Ravenness had unsettled him enough, and he needed to get his mind off of how infuriated it made him to think about how scared he had been, like a child. He hated that creature and her power over him, he hated that she had the power to torture to her heart's content with no fear of reprisal so long as she remained in the King's favor, and he most especially hated that he could easily become her victim if the King uttered but a few words. He remembered the last time he felt such fear, and it only made him see red as he relived that terrible night in his head. He could feel his fingernails digging into his palms and his teeth grinding against each other long before he got to the place that he had left the King. He nearly struck the next face that he saw, but he barely managed to contain himself.

It had been too long since Darrin had sparred one on one. He grabbed a second dagger from his side and ran forward, going in to sweep Jasper off of his feet.

Jasper stepped back and to the left, exposing Darrin's side, but made no move to strike.

Maverick watched with sorrow as the poor child was dragged off by the General. Stars have mercy on her soul, he thought, bowing his head in mourning. Who knew what terrible fate awaited her?

Arvis glared as he was marched down to the dungeons. What a stupid reason to be detained. His anger, however, was just a cover-up for what he really felt: fear. He could be executed, alongside his two companions. And for what? This would be no glorious battlefield death. He would die a coward and a traitor, his name to become as much a cautionary tale as Vadim, that castle guard who'd been tortured and killed. And, worse, that little girl could be die because of him.

Perhaps he could have found solace in the fact that it wasn't likely the Raveness would inflict her unholy torture upon him. He'd been following her orders after all. And yet, the thought was soiled by worry. Sure, he wouldn't fall beneath that witch's knife, but that poor little girl... He sighed hopelessly.

Gosh, I am so bad at writing fight scenes...

Get him on the ground. That was Darrin's goal. Knives were awful to fight with. He really should have brought a sword, but he'd though tonight's job would go swiftly. Chiding himself, however, could wait. For now, he needed to end this. He threw the small dagger at his opponent's heart, then swung his leg in the hopes of tripping the man after his knife struck.

Caden growled again before tossing the guard aside. "Idiot! No one is to move without my command, that is the lockdown! If you cannot find a way to secure this child while awaiting orders, then you are worthless. No, worst then worthless, a traitor!" Caden pulled the child along as he approached where he had thrown the guardsman, "if you can't take the security of the castle and its King seriously, then you are a traitor to your King." Caden began to draw his sword.

"I'mma wishin' I could tell ya otherwise, miss, but things don't look too good. I'd a-guess we're here for least an hour, probably more."

As Caden began yelling, sounds in the ballroom quieted. Nicolae raised his eyebrows. "Oh, boy, this had gotta be good... Caden's bad news, miss. A dangerous man, he is. They call him the King's Dog."

Riva scoffed. "ENOUGH!" she yelled. "The man was following my orders, Caden, and he did quite well. You take the girl if you wish, but let this man go."

Caden growled louder, "you'll both be coming with me, now stand up!" Caden pulled the child behind him as he stalked out of the ballroom without offering so much as a glance towards the Ravenness. "Anyone caught leaving this room will be killed if they are lucky!"

Arabella glanced between the two nervously, growing more and more terrified at each word.

Dodging would have been impractical, so Jasper simply let the knife clatter off his mail. He was slightly slow in avoiding the second strike, taking a shallow cut on his left shin. As the man tried to sweep him, he planted himself firmly and absorbed the hit.

Why don't you fight back? Darrin thought. The man was trying to keep him here, wasn't he? Well, then that meant he just had to end the fight even faster. He charged his opponent, looking to wrestle the knife from his hand.

A serving girl was running down a hallway. She was stopped by a guard. "Miss, the castle is on lock down. Where are you going in such a hurry?"

The woman was nearly hysterical. "There's an intruder! I saw him! On the balcony. He was wearing black, I think he's an assassin!"

The guard paused. "You should come with me, miss. The General will want to hear about this..."

"She was running away from the castle, sir. And there was another woman with her, but she got away."

The guard found the General and saluted. "Sir! This woman said she found suspicious activity."

"An assassin!" the woman shouted. "He wore black, sir, and had a bow and arrows!"

Caden spun about to strike the guard in order to relieve his built up anger, but contained himself after he heard what he said. He leapt forward and grabbed the woman by her shoulders, staring directly into her eyes with a burning intensity. "Where."

Ivian's eyes shot open. He was soaked with sweat and shaking with pain. Glancing around, he found himself surrounded by doctors and guards. A bloodied arrows sat on a table beside him.

"What... happened?" He demanded.

Two of Caden's personal guards stood over the King, but they didn't speak a word. It wasn't until a castle guardsman spoke that the brief silence was broken. "Sir, you were attacked by an assassin. We're holding you here until the general has secured the castle."

"No, no thank you." Alienor smiled somewhat distractedly. She was still watching a pair of guards.

Seriously

Someone just play a guard, have them ask Wendy who she is, then take her into custody

That's all you gotta do

"I--but--" Wendy almost protested, but remembered that the dungeons were likely where they were keeping Arabella as well. "Will I have to stay there for long?"
