Wendy stepped into the room, covering her nose at the smell. There were no screams, but plenty of blood. She paled, and started swaying nauseously at the sheer amount of red.

With a cough of disgust, she worked her way over to one of the cells. "I'm looking for someone."

"Who?" The prisoner asked. They didn't seem very depressed yet; maybe they were new to the prisons? "A boyfriend?"

"I'm looking for a girl named Arabella," Wendy replied. "Is she here?"

Arabella listened at the door until the guards were gone and curled up on the bed, crying.

"Not here," the prisoner replied. "Did the Raveness take her? What'd she do?"

"I... don't know. Here, I'll get you out of here..." Wendy pulled out her dagger and began looking around for some keys.

"Callous, miss?" Nicolae raised an eyebrow. "She's the one who knew I'd be workin' this time today. She'd know she have to wait, miss. It might-a be callous if I knew who the girl was, I'm thinkin', but I don't even know that. Doesn't mean I won't be showin' her a good time anyway though. Kinda what I'm known for, see." He paused, staring forward pensively. "Those serving girls have it rough, I think. Needin' a distraction sometimes. And so do I..."

"What do you need a distraction from?" pressed Aliénor.

Upon finding the keys, Wendy let out all the prisoners, cutting their ropes with her dagger if they were tied to the wall.

"Alright! Get out quietly!" Wendy whispered. "And try not to get captured again."

The many prisoners muttered their thanks before sneaking out through the entrance, leaving the dungeon behind them. Last of all, Wendy came away from the putrid, bloodstained room, completely unsure of where to find Arabella.

Nicolae let out a sigh. "I don't wanna say it, miss, but I guess I've already alluded to it enough. King Ivian ain't the best king in the world. This court is a pit of vipers, you know, and... Well. Life is rough if you're not noble here. I'mma hopin' you might fare better than I, but from what I seen tonight, our king's not all too thrilled 'bout your prescence. You're foreign, see, and people don't like what's not normal. I don't want you gettin' hurt, my lady, I really don't."

Wendy made her way through the halls, taking this turn and that. Without warning, she found herself in the ballroom.

Darrin cursed again and shot an arrow while his opponent climbed. The one arrow was enough. Any more would slow him down far more than would be safe. Actually, he realized as he made his way to the ground, maybe any at all was unsafe. This man was ridiculously fast. 

If I get caught for this, I will never live it down. Not that I'll live for very long...

"The dungeon, miss?" Arvis asked. 

Riva stood up straight. "No, of course not. She's a child. Find her a room in the servants' quarters. Just lock the door."

"Oh." Arvis blushed, then saluted. "As you command, Lady Raven." 

As the guards moved to leave the room, Riva leaned towards Caden. "You'd better not be letting them out and not me," she said.

Caden shouted at the guards as they had begun to walk away. He had been listening in to what a messenger was whispering into his ear and had just now seen the guards walking away after talking orders from the Ravenness. He stormed past the Ravennes, trying to avoid looking at her. "Where are you taking her under the lockdown boys?"
