Ivian raised an eyebrow. It really didn't sound like Maverick who he was talking to. "Whatever your sentiment, there's nothing we can do about it now."

“Clearly.” He glared, a chilling expression with his white eyes.

"Is there anything else you needed?"

“Yes, actually. Ive been told you have a sword in this castle. One that belongs to me.”

Ivian nodded. "Alright. Is this an heirloom, just a regular weapon...? I can have my guards fetch it for you."

“It is a blade of power, mortal.”

Ivian fell silent. Mortal? Maverick, what happened to you? "A blade of power? Don't tell me that you believe in those fairy tales."

“They’re not fairytales. I have seen things and now I believe. You should believe too.”

I do. Ivian thought to himself. I saw what happened to your brother.

"Well I think I would know if I had a sword of power in my castle."

“Yes. One would think. I would like to search for the thing.”

Ivian held up a hand. "First, assuming what you say is correct, I would like to know what it can do and why you want it."

“I don’t know what it can do, only that my master wants it.”

"Am I not your master? Or at least your liege?"

“There are higher powers than kings, Your Majesty.”

Ivian stood. "Are you threatening treason?" On any other occasion he wouldn't have jumped to such hasty conclusions, but there was something wrong about this man and he needed to get to the point as soon as possible

“of course not. This monarchy is a religious one, is it not? Do you not serve a God? So what if our gods are different?“

“No.” He grinned, an unnerving expression. “I wasn’t.”

"What changed?" How much changed?

“I was visited by a messenger. Awoken to the truth.”

"I see." Ivian sat back down. "Well, ask your god about this sword of yours first. I can't go handing about blades of legend to everyone claiming they were called of God to collect one."
