I know very well that I have no right, Harmony said only to Kelsier, tired. But I am trying to help her, all the same. Having the desire to slit your own throat does not, fortunately, go hand-in-hand with imagining it. You...are correct that with so many years of no change in her condition, I should have tried different things; I think that sometimes it is hard for me to remember that...

To Marie he only said, You are aware of my opinion by now. I will not interfere in your choice.

Marie stared at the Survivor, the man with just one spike in his eye and a god thrice over. He had been listening in on her thoughts too, apparently. She found it difficult to care much anymore; so many people had been in her head at this point that she was desensitized to the feeling of privacy breached. "A year," she mused. "On another planet?"

Technically, he was spying on Saze, not Marie. Not that she’s know that...

Since when is Kell ever good at doing what he’s supposed to? He made a career of doing exactly what people don’t want him to do.

What the Rusts! What did I miss? I really should have started burning my tin earlier... Oh well. To late to change that now.

Kelsier ignored the sudden pulse of Sage’s tin. He was honestly surprised that she’d taken that long to start eavesdropping.

Instead, he shook his head as he spoke to Marie. “That would take you out of Saze’s direct reach, which rather defeats the purpose of this compromise.

“A year here, where you’re free and uncontrolled, to see if you can - or want - to follow my rules and work with my crew. If you don’t like it, you’d be free to leave at any time and I’ll no longer involve myself in your affairs, unless I find that you’re interfering in mine.

”If after a year you want to continue working with me, then Saze and I will hash it out then. Or I’ll smuggle you offworld.” He grinned briefly, humor flashing through his eye. “Whichever’s easier.” His face grew solemn, something dark and fierce in the depths of his eye. “I take care of my own, Marie. So long as it’s in my power to do so.

”Either way,” he turned away, looking up at the brilliant morning sky, “it’s your choice. It’s about time you were given one.”

“Good food,” Eryn said simply. “Filling. Wholesome. Will enjoy.”

Ladashwy just stood, shocked. I REALLY should have started listening earlier. This... this is not what I expected to hear. At this point, it really shouldn't surprise me. Too many crazy things have happened recently.

"Oh, now don't degrade yourself that way. I'll make fun of you no matter how far away your wit is. In fact, that might make it a good deal easier..." He said with his ever-present grin.

Her gaze flitted from him to Ladashwy, watching. "Give me a day to decide." She turned around to head back to the inn - more to get away from the Survivor and Harmony (even if there was no getting away, she held to the illusion) than to go to the others. Then she hesitated and looked back. "You taking the girl, or should I?" Her head tilted slightly to indicate the other woman.

Awkward. Um... Does she know I'm listening in... or... what? She probably does. She was still burning her tin, but just kept standing there. I look out of place here. I AM out of place here. She sighed inwardly. Everything about me stands out. From my clothing, to the way I walk, to the way I talk, to the way I act. I should go back to the village. At least they are used to me there, even if I don't quite fit in there either. She stood awkwardly trying to figure out what to do.

Valid  Do I have your permission to Push and Pull her back to the inn if she goes with Marie? Or do you want to have her run back on her own?

Metal wise, she only has a few steelminds (I'm guessing she can't push those), and probably 2 vials of tin. But yes. You'd have to supply the metal. She should be running out of feruchemical speed, so you might be able to manipulate the bracers on her arms. I don't know though.

Kelsier’s gaze softened. “Take all the time you need. Let Ganache know I’ll meet her in the Church; I’ll give you the space you need to choose.

”I’ll talk to Sage; she’s one of mine, after all.”

I just leaned that it is really hard to get into Ladashwy's mindset when listening to Metallica. :P

Her face reddened slightly. "Um, yes." Is there really anything else to say? Why is talking to people so hard? "Slightly strange, but interesting." Why did I listen in?

He nodded, ignoring her discomfort. “What are your thoughts? I’d like to hear them.”

"Other than the fact that I wish that I had started listening earlier?" Her face reddened more at that. "Marie seems..." What's the right word for it? "For lack of a better word, depressed. She is most likely going to accept your offer. She... well... she seems... how do I put it..." She paused for a moment. "She seems tired. I think that what you offered, would probably be the best for her mental stability." She sighed. "She seems like she is almost to the point where she is ready to give up on life. Where she would almost be happier not existing." She said softly.

Kelsier nodded thoughtfully. “Enslavement is hard. It breaks down the psyche until you can barely even imagine the possibility of a future.

”Of course, freedom has its own risks and its own fears.

”I hope she accepts, but I won’t be shocked if she refuses. Freedom isn’t just a state of being; it’s a choice.”

Ladashwy nodded. "That makes sense." I never thought of that before. Huh. That is interesting.

I am of the very firm opinion that Kelsier would be a Willshaper if he was a Radiant.

Kelsier nodded, following Marie’s path with his eyes. “Here,” he said after a moment, offering a silvery ring to Sage. “Something to help you spy.”

Ladashwy took the ring, and looked at it. Oooh! What is it... Duralumin? Tin? Nicrosil? Hmm. "What is it?" She said, extremely curious. I need to know! What does it do?

He smirked. “Figure it out.” It would serve her well, he hoped. People always underestimated the non-combative metals: bronze, tin, copper... but three hundred years had taught Kelsier the value and power in those abilities, some of which Scadrial had yet to discover.

Although, he thought ruefully, Marsh is still the better seeker. Well, no one could be the best at everything.

It’s a Nicrosil ring granting Allomantic bronze. Powerful bronze, although not nearly as OP as I mistakenly made Eryn’s anklet (due to a misunderstanding regarding how F. Nicrosil works). It’s strong enough to break a Coppercloud though, as it wouldn’t be of nearly as much use otherwise.

I can change any of the above if anyone objects.

Yeah, he had not understood it. "I was actually talking about the talking ball of light literally named "wit" who is with the Sovereign... I should stop making puns before breakfeast."

For some reason this has never been asked to Brandon

If I understand Nicrosil Compounding correctly, Kelsier is better

Wait. Brandon RAFO'd whether Marsh had added spikes after HoA, it's possible they're both Nicrosil Compounder meaning Marsh is better in a 1001>1000 way :D

(yeah for some reason that thought makes me laugh)

The person who asked suggested Kelsier would be a Skybreaker for some strange reason. Kelsier would not be a Skybreaker. According to the quiz he fits Willshaper, Lightweaver and Releaser in that order. Everything else is too low to really be in consideration.

Kelsier is a more powerful seeker than Marsh. Marsh is more skilled. That’s why Kelsier says Marsh is better at it than he is. Pure headcannon, but Marsh can differentiate the different Seons by their pulses. Kelsier can only separate out Ene’s pulse with any consistency. Or that’s what I’m going with here. They’re both excellent at parsing out the metallic arts at this point, so any difference would involve offworld Investiture.

No Inquisitors had Nicrosil spikes and I don’t see Marsh making more, which is a slight problem with that theory.

Eryn chuckled slightly. “Is good joke. Ene goes with Sovereign often.”

Cool! I don't think she underestimates non-combative metals. She uses it on a fairly regular basis. And she is a scholar. She was literally raised to be non-combative.

She nodded thoughtfully, and pulled out three notebooks. She slipped the ring on, and started flipping through two of the notebooks (the ones on feruchemy and allomancy) and referenced different sections. She then wrote those thing down into the other notebook (the one she wrote theories in).

He didn’t mean her specifically. He meant in general. Kelsier has found bronze to be very useful due to the whole ‘offworld investiture sensing’ ability. It helps him track down worldhoppers.

That makes sense. Also, when he tracks down worldhoppers... Is he trying to find Hoid? So that he can punch him in the face?:P

Ladashwy realized that they had been gone all night. "Um, should we go back to the inn?" She, for some odd reason, didn't feel tired. She did, however, feel hungry.
