He smiled warmly, draping an arm of her shoulders. “You’ll do fine, Sage.”

She nodded. When did my life become so weird? I'm sitting down, having a casual conversation with the Survivor. It is really, really strange. She thought for a minute, and then she got to the point where she had to ask more questions. Her mind filled with questions that were practically begging to be asked. "Did Meens tell you anything useful?" She asked, genuinely curious.

“Some,” Kelsier said. “Seems he had contact with an hemalurgist. He put the information on a Coppermind for me; I’ll give it to Ganache when we get back.”

She shook her head, and grimmaced. "All this Hemalurgy stuff really makes me wonder how I didn't know about it previously. My specialty of study has been on the metallic arts! I've spent years trying to learn as much about Allomancy and Feruchemy as I possibly could, and I had never even heard rumors about it. It's only after someone tries to kill me with it that I learn about it." She sighed. "How well kept of a secret is Hemalurgy?!" she said, feeling a bit frustrated.

Wait. Did I just say that religion isn't logical to someone who has his own religion? What kind of messed up world am I living in?

It arguably makes your argument stronger

“Saze mentions it obliquely in his book,” Kelsier said lightly, “when he explains about Ruin’s influence. And where he mentions the Inquisitors. But for the most part he’s tried to have the knowledge buried. Ironic, because he uses it to communicate with his followers.”

“Spook and I used to study it, trying to bring me back,” a brief flicker of annoyance crossed the Survivor’s face. “Saze didn’t approve. We succeeded anyway.” He tapped his spike lightly with one scarred finger.

“The South knows a bit more, but I mostly left it up to them to figure it out. Assuming they want to, of course. But then, Saze and I have rather different opinions on certain matters.”

It’s certainly amusing anyway.

"Huh." She paused, processing the information. "Wait, what? He uses it to..." and then she understood. "Oh. The earrings. That makes sense. Kind of."

Are you choosing to let them bleed out? he sent to Marie, or you can’t just kill? Or both?

Can we have this interaction have taken place before the scene where she snaps a guy's neck?

That voice again. The same one she'd decided was the Survivor's. And there he was, sitting by Ladashwy back by the main tent. "I'm not authorized to kill," she breathed disgustedly, knowing his tin would probably pick it up. Useful metal, tin, one she'd often wished she had. One hand drifted to her bag, then away.

Fine by me!

I can free you, Kelsier sent to the Inquisitor. But it will require me to take control for a moment first. Will you let me? He had no intention of directly violating Marie’s autonomy without her consent - for multiple reasons.

The Survivor nodded at Sage. “Exactly. They’re made from old Inquisitor spikes. Hemalurgy is evil - except when Saze and his servants use it, apparently.”

Saze: Killing for Hemalurgy is evil. Not using the spike evil people made is a waste.

She snorted. Wait. Then how do the Pathians not all have crazy allomantic or feruchemical abilities. She grabbed one of her notebooks, and started jotting down notes.

The Survivor glanced over at her writing. “Spikes decay when not in use,” he explained. “So the power granted by the earrings is too slight to have an effect.” Well, not much of one, anyway. “There are other ways to avoid the decay problem.” He smirked, watching Sage closely. “Care to guess?”

"Eryn said that we had to wrap the spikes in aluminum to slow the decaying." She said, distracted.

He grinned. “That’s one way. There’s another, albeit less effective and considerably messier.”

"Hm. And what's that?" She said, still jotting down notes. I wish I was an Archivist.

“You tell me.” He shot her an amused look. “I told you, Sage: I’m not going to give you all the answers. Some you’ll need to figure out for yourself.”

He chuckled. “Fair enough. When you do, tell Ganache. She’ll forward it to me.”

"Mhm. Okay." She was drawing out a diagram with the different basic metals, and writing out what she knew. It wasn't a lot, but it was a start. Hm. If you create the spikes by killing people, then how weren't swords or knives accidentally turned into hemalurgic spikes? She sighed, and started writing questions down that she'd figure out later.

If she thinks back to when she created the Feruchemical gold spike she could figure it out...

Kelsier smiled, standing up in one quick, fluid motion. “I’m going to find Marie,” he told Sage. “See if she needs some help.”

He drew his dagger, rolling it about his hand. It would be fun if nothing else - and no less than these people deserved. They should have chosen another master.

He smiled, then flung himself into the air, mist swirling about him. There was a joy to allomancy, a pure freedom. The nights belonged allomancers, the nights and the mists and the stars.

I wonder, he thought, what it would be like beneath a moon? He’d seen them in others’ memories, strange, reflective, spherical objects that just sat in the sky. But he’d yet to see one with his own eyes. I will find a way, he promised himself.

Scadrians: moons are weird. Why don’t they fall on you? Rosharans: your sky is so empty! And there are so many stars!

Marie ran through the commands in her head, considering. "If it lets me kill and move freely? Be my mental guest."

People in the Drominad system just in the corner laughing at all these people with only a couple celestial bodies :P

Hey mathiau, if/when Adilie reapplies the orders, could she forget the one about not telling people about Hemalurgy? I'd like to talk to Ladashwy about it, if Random's up for it

I'm definitely good with that. It would make Ladashwy happy, and she'd trust Marie more.
