Rosalie slipped out of the room and hurried to the market, looking for someone well off she could steal an apple or two from.

"What?" said Minuet, caught off guard. Her people sense didn't warn her about their intentions, of course. "I've got plenty, but more can always be good. Well, to a certain extent."

“Sure, sure, certainly,” Orpheus replied. “So, you, uh... you magic at all? What’s your story?”

"I have a Grace. It's pretty uncommon. You?" Minuet says, eager to get away from her past.

Talnic noticed one of the others watching him, seemingly nervous. As the others began to leave, Talnic strode up to him. "You don't have to come, you know," Talnic said quietly.

Avren shook his head. “I’d just rather not go to the market.” He looked down. “But I have no food or money.”

“Nope, don’t think so.” And, to a degree, that was still true. “Just an uneducated, poor hunter is all.”

"How did you end up here?"

He hesitated. “I kind of just ran into the shadowy man at the school. Though, I was there on... unofficial business. He spouted prophecies and I kind of just ended up here.

"Sounds almost like a coincidence." Minuet figured he probably didn't want to talk about that unofficial business, with the way he paused in front. So she didn't ask.

“Very coincidental.” He racked his brains on Graces, but he couldn’t remember much at all. “If you don’t mind, what Grace do you have? You can’t read my mind or anything, right?”

He really needed to learn his magic systems sometime soon.

How old is Avren again?

"You need food if you're coming with us," Talnic said. Somewhat annoyed at himself for giving away two gold pieces in a matter of minutes, Talnic handed another coin to the kid. "What's your name? And do you need help finding stuff? If they see you're nervous at all, or aren't quite sure of yourself, they'll squeeze every last penny out of you that they can. Plus, you don't want food that's too old, or can't be stored easily, not to mention keeping down the weight of what you carry as much as possible." Talnic looked him up and down. "You got a weapon of some sort? Bandits aren't uncommon around Tarboda."

You're doing it again, he chided himself. You're helping too much. You'll be come friends with these people, and then they'll leave as soon as the adventure is done, wanting to return to their home towns, their purpose fulfilled.

So he'd keep his distance from these people. Talnic would learn about them, as he learned about everyone. He just wouldn't let them learn about him. That way it would be easy for him to leave first.

Ara picked up the rune from the ground, and the illusion vanished. Turning, she followed the group to the market, fishing in her bag for what was left of the money she had stolen from her family. She still felt guilty about that. Her sisters said her parents were terrible people anyway, but Ara still clung to the thought that they had just had a hard life. If was all she had left to hold onto.

Ara had only stopped to buy food once since her escape, and that had gone very poorly. Maybe these people could help her, this time. Talnic, the Shadow, seemed nice, and smart. Maybe she could ask him what was a fair price for some food once they reached the market.

“Avren, and— thank you,” he replied, surprised at the show of generosity. “I can... I don’t need help.” He sighed, running a hand through his hair. “There are just some people I’d rather not run into. To put it lightly.” He winced. Did that make him sound like a criminal? He supposed he could be called that, just not in the way anyone would think.

“Anyway,” he changed the subject. “I can defend myself.” And it wasn’t exactly a lie. He’d gotten into plenty of fights during those months he’d spent living on the streets, and while he wasn’t any sort of fighter, he could at least hold his own. But trained bandits... those could be a problem.

Of course, there was another method he could use to fight, but that was out of the question.

It doesn’t matter, he reminded himself. Once we’re at the next city, I can leave.

Of course you can!

If I may make a suggestion (you don’t have to follow this, obviously), your character could be in the same area as Mat’s character, since he hasn’t been able to get into the RP yet

Talnic nodded. "Understandable. I'd suggest trying to catch up with one of the others and asking them to pick up supplies for you."

Talnic smiled, the expression hidden behind his scarf. The kid didn't look to be much older than Talnic himself. He probably shouldn't think of him as a kid, then.

Arven did look a little anxious at the mention of fighting, but that was perfectly normal, for the most part.

If you hadn't been raised among those who bore the knives in the shadows, you often didn't pause to think about what you would do if one of those knives was intended for you.

Of course, Talnic hadn't grown up like that. He'd merely learned a lot in the last three years.

Just a note, Talnic hasn't shared his actual name yet. He's trying to keep as much information about himself secret, especially his name. That'll probably be the last bit of information he'll be willing to share. That and stuff about the monk in Cazimar he's friends with.

Rosalie tossed her apple into the air, catching it and taking a bite. It was a good apple, no bruises. She smiled and went to find those questers.

Yes I know it's not a word, to Rosalie it is.

Minuet cursed mentally. She should have known it'd lead here. Uh, what was a Grace that would explain her extreme prowess in... anything fighting, really? She gave up. "I've got... a killing Grace."

Name: Gal Owlson

Age: 16

Skills: Gal is a Wanderer - yes, it supposed to be capitalized. it's a race of not-quiet-human yet not much different from normal humans. The Wanderers are connected somehow to some sort of spiritual animals that are connected to human attributes, called their Centers. They are built of small tribes, each one connected to it's own animal kind. Gal belongs to the Owl's tribe, as his name says, which Center is Wisdom, Knowledge and Thinking (most of this is from the thread in my signature - it may be clearer there). His magical abilities are basically the ability to think and make connections faster - a little Sherlock Holmes-like, though he can also judge by the angle of a movement and the moving object's speed where it will land (i this counts as magical ability). He can also make small changes in such things, though it takes much energy and costs some of his "Harvest" - which is knowledge and speed of mind he can take from people, though he uses a pre-existing stock. He also can share his speed of thought, if the receiver is willing.

Physical Appearance: He looks pretty much like a normal human. he's very pale, with brown hair and eyes. he usually wears a hat, to cover the fact his ears are covered in feathers. His feature somewhat resemble an owl, though it's not very easy to see that.

Personality: Gal is very curious, always seeks to learn more of the world around him. He is somewhat stubborn - if he believes in something, he will refuse to acknowledge he's wrong, even in the face of strong evidence. He also is usually absent-minded, and isn't quick to befriend people. He usually just wanders, seemingly aimlessly, around the world, sometimes joins a larger group.

History: Gal lived in his youth with his tribe, and the rest of the Wanderers, in the valleys between the north-western mountains. His tribe sometimes entered the caves there, adding the prophesies to their already vast amounts of knowledge, though Gal took little interest in those. He preferred to go to the outside world, as some of his people sometimes did. When he reached the age of seven he started training with his powers, which usually appear around this age. When he was fourteen, he asked the tribe elders for permission to go to the outside world and was granted it. Armed with his people's vast knowledge of the world and his deep desire to understand all kinds of magic, he was off, wandering wherever his legs take him. Lately he heard that dragons have their own unique kind of magic, and now he seeks a way to get to a dragon's lair.

Is that good? It's sort of my first time RPing.

A killing Grace? “What, you can just magically kill people? That’s the magic?”

You know what, that sounds awesome! But take my praise with a grain of salt, as it’s also my first time RPing.

“I hope you’re good enough you can take on a dragon, because I doubt I’ll be much help.” He thought for a moment, then added, “You think you could kill me?”

"It's when you're especially skilled at something unnaturally. You know that I have a Grace because of my differently colored eyes. And yes, I could easily kill you." Minuet looked down. "It's all right if you don't want me to come on the quest. I know I'm dangerous to be around."
