Noche scrambled farther up the tree.

Kindness hovers awkwardly, cheering on her friends.  "You can do it!  Stab those ghosties!"

And now one of them is cheering on the others. Yep, definitely getting out of here. Noche settles on a branch, prepared to climb higher if she has to.

Luz strolls out of the portal, dancing to a music only he can hear. 

Well... my usual company isn't any less crazy. Noche waves her arms, calling Luz's attention to her. He strolls through the center of the clump of ghosts, walking right through some of them, then climbs up to her.

"Hi," he says. "What are you doing up here?"

"Hiding from the ghosts. You? It's obvious that you don't have to."

"Well, I'm keeping you company, of course! You wouldn't want to be all alone in this creepy forest filled with ghosts that will kill you!"

Noche smiles wearily. "One of these days you're going to have to tell me what it is that protects you from everything around you. It's a new Aviar, right?"

"I never reveal my secrets, little sister."

"Yeah, that's what I thought. Would it be able to protect both of us?"

"Well, yes, but you'd have to do something first. And you don't want to do the thing, it's pretty bad. I didn't enjoy it at all."

"Hmm. Promise me you'll tell me someday?"

"Yes. When you're ready."

Noche looked at the people fighting below. "I should probably let them know that it's safe up here, huh."

Luz looks at her and smiles. "You read my mind."

"Hey!" calls Noche. "It's safe up here, you can come up!"

X-6574 smiles. For some reason, blowing up ghosts whilst in mortal danger brings him enjoyment. How peculiar.

Philico manages to stab a Shade and leap into the silver dust circle that was spread around the portal, creating a momentary breach in the force of ghosts. He yells to the others. "Here! Quickly!"

Relieved, Queen runs to Philico.

Wishing he still had steel, Enter got out a silver spear and started stabbing Shades. Realizing he wasn't any good with a spear, he started making a pathway outlined with silver to the tree Noche was in.

Fadran glances between Philico and Noche, then does the stupidly obvious thing and runs for the girl in the tree.

"No, I'm all right! Just... go through! Once these ghosts calm down, I'll come."

Alba flies through the portal.

"Shades don't just calm down. You aren't safe up there!" Fadran starts hopping up the tree branches.

T tries pushing fields at the ghosts, stabbing carefully at them with her daggers. The fields do nothing, only enraging the Shades with the quick movement. Their eyes glow red.

Luz follows her. "That's a good choice, those are pretty nasty ghosts. Plus, I wouldn't trust him if I were you."

Enter reached the tree and made a ring around it in silver dust. He'd killed all the shades in the path. "You can come down now! You'll be perfectly safe!"

"You're sure?"

Luz shook his head. "I don't know, I wouldn't trust him. However, I think that dust is supposed to keep the shades away."

"The silver dust won't last forever, and the chances of someone randomly finding you before you die are quite slim. I'd recommend you come down now."

Noche bites her lip, then makes her decision. "Okay, I'll come down." She starts down the tree, moving very cautiously.

Luz follows her down, not exactly sure if he's okay with this decision.
