The landscape around them dissolved, becoming replaced with a field of shattered rock and empty skies.

"Wait," said X's avatar, a thought popping in a lightbulb over his head. He extended his hand, pulling a circular, reflective piece of metal and handing it to Melody. "It will allow us to communicate," he explained.

"Oh, perfect!" Melody took the mirror and looked at it, trying to discern what it was about this metal that would connect them.
