I think HPMOR makes more sense than Harry Potter, and I also think the characters are more real. They have motivations and stuff. Also it's hilarious. You should read it (at least the first 3-5 chapters.) There's a PDF version you can get from Google Books and an online version you can just look up. Both are free.
