Janice paled at the sound, then whipped around and grabbed Corwin, pulling him away from the yevon. She worked off of instinct alone: a strange force that had been ingrained in her mind while Trace had been inhabiting it. Janice pulled Corwin close to her, then turned her back and put herself between him and the yevon. Claws raked down her back, but whether or not she screamed, she could not tell. It didn't matter anyways how much damage she sustained, as she quickly redistributed the pain and blew the yevon backwards with a burst of force so large that it also knocked aside several nearby yevon.

"Cadenza!" Janice called, praying that she'd get the message just at one word. She dropped Corwin to the floor and tore off the wrappings down past her elbow, pressing them to his arm. "Hey! Corwin! Say something!"

The ice daggers flew overhead and Cadenza slid over, turning away from the pair and attacking another Yevon. She grunted and raised a small wall around them for the moment.

"Just flesh wound? You're not the one with the magical healing powers, you moron!" The black-and-blue wrappings were beginning to darken from the blood. "Just don't die! Cadenza'll keep us safe."

"You're both fine?"

"You don't sound alright," Cadenza said, fending off another yevon.

“Just give me a minute,” he said, rubbing his hand over his blood. He pressed past Janice, then he smeared it against the ice wall. “Can anyone melt this?” He asked. “If-“ he kept slathering red onto it, turning their side of the wall a gushy pink, “when I didn’t have training, I slid around like crazy. If we can soak them-“ he turned supplicant eyes towards them. “I don’t have a cool ability, but I can trust that someone else does.”

“What are you talking about?”

“Melt it and blast it back into the monsters; it will throw them off... if the blood isn’t too distilled...”

"Why the blood? I can melt it, but I don't see the point when there's already water."

He huffed. “My blood- my sweat- it removes friction almost entirely.”

"Alright then." The water held in its shape for a moment, then collapsed in a wave going all directions. Cadenza, Janice, and Corwin got splashed as well, but not as badly as the yevon. Cadenza huffed.

Janice was on her feet in an instant, brandishing her sword at the yevon; as if anything she could do would actually make a difference.

"Hey," she said to the others. "We're not... gonna die here, are we?"

"'Course not. If it looks like we are, we'll just get out."

Maddy's arc probably would change outside of the battlefield a whole lot more than inside of it; since that's what she's used to. Like all the shopping and suddenly being a sort of guardian awhile back, that was a growth moment.

A long way of saying I'm good :P

Siren slammed into the pavement, the air twisting in streams of roiling steam around him.  He stood, lips pressed into a thin line, and the ground spread open, the sound of thunder, yet sharp and precise.  Screams ensued, and the remainder of the Yevon were systematically and abruptly slain.  "Who is injured?" Siren asked, strolling no-nonsense directly past the children.  He looked up to the roof.

The sniper woman dropped from the roof.  He caught her in a breath of air, and she landed lightly.  He repeated himself, and she gestured.  Several of the younger students had been wounded, Corwin included.  He looked ashamed of himself, and seemed rather upset.  Siren noted every individual, and immediately set upon delegating others to assist in moving the injured.

Siren then took a long draft from a large flask at his side.  He shot into the air, then to the edge of the city.  It was past time to bolster the defenses.
