Cadenza fell from the sky, creating a circular ramp and sliding down. "Hey," she said. "Need a hand?"

Aryanna ran after her, holding a very long knife. "We still aren't done," she tried to mutter to Cadenza.

"Maybe? I dun--AH!" Janice dropped to the floor as a yevon almost decapitated her. She thrust her sword upwards with a grunt, then groaned loudly as blood splattered all over her clothes. "Eww! Nobody told me that fighting was so gross!"

Cadenza ignored Aryanna. Maybe she'd get the hint this time.

"Yeah, it kind of is. This is why I need new outfits so often." Cadenza waved her fingers and a slew of ice daggers slew a yevon.

Been wanting to do that for a while.

Shade Elieen was happily shooting from the roof. (She hits about 49/50 of targets she aims for.) Now this is more like it. I can use my skills, and I don't have to worry about my moral standing. After I save my sister, maybe I'll try to join an army or something.

"Ha!  Girls!" Corwin said, "This is why ya fight withou' a shirt on, or, y'know, just wash your clothes.  Seriously-" he ducked a swing of a talon, then jabbed twice quickly, dropping one of the Yevon unconscious.  He spun, dancing back over the fallen demon to avoid slashing knives, "Why in the world," he panted, "Do girls need so many clothes?  Haven't ya heard o' soap?"

"Blood doesn't come out easily, you know."

He shrugged.  "If you say so," Corwin seemed puzzled.  Then, he took a blow to his left arm.  It should have slid, but the Yevon twisted and hacked sideways, into Corwin, and it stuck, digging into his upper arm.  He screamed, vision fuzzy from the immediate pain, and the Yevon that he'd been distracting swarmed forward, sensing the opening.

Janice paled at the sound, then whipped around and grabbed Corwin, pulling him away from the yevon. She worked off of instinct alone: a strange force that had been ingrained in her mind while Trace had been inhabiting it. Janice pulled Corwin close to her, then turned her back and put herself between him and the yevon. Claws raked down her back, but whether or not she screamed, she could not tell. It didn't matter anyways how much damage she sustained, as she quickly redistributed the pain and blew the yevon backwards with a burst of force so large that it also knocked aside several nearby yevon.

"Cadenza!" Janice called, praying that she'd get the message just at one word. She dropped Corwin to the floor and tore off the wrappings down past her elbow, pressing them to his arm. "Hey! Corwin! Say something!"

“It’s just- a flesh- wound!” He grunted, through teeth bared in a smile.  The Yevon she’d blasted back suddenly seemed unable to control their balance, teetering and toppling. “Damnation-“ he swore softly, “I musta lost a lot o’ blood for so many to slip on it...”

"Just flesh wound? You're not the one with the magical healing powers, you moron!" The black-and-blue wrappings were beginning to darken from the blood. "Just don't die! Cadenza'll keep us safe."

“It’s my arm, not my vitals,” he said, annoyed at her fussing, but not able to do much about it.

“Keep him safe!” Another girl called, running in to hold them off, “he can’t die!  He’s the only boy at this school!”

"Well arms are important too!" Janice balled up the makeshift bandage, then pulled off the rest from her arm to replace it. As an afterthought, she grabbed a few more and tied it all to his arm as tightly as she could.

Also, is that other girl being serious? Like, is Corwin actually the only male person in the vicinity?

((Nah, I'm just joking.))

"You'd tie an entire bedsheet around my arm if you could, huh?"

"If you're not in too much pain that you can joke, then you're not in too much pain to keep your mouth shut." Janice examined her handiwork. "I need to be able to think here, and all this noise isn't helping."

"Aw, do you want me to sit here all shirtless and brooding with my eyes sparkling in gratituuuuuuuuuude..?" he rubbed his chin with his good hand, smirking.  At her sharp look, he flinched.  'Fine- fine.  Shutting up."

"Y'know, maybe you should invest in a shirt. You'd get sliced less often."

"Took it off.  My body in liquid form has nearly no traction.  Sweat, blood, the works."  He grunted, gripping at his arm.  "Shoot.  Accidentally moved it."

"Just stay still. I'm sure you'll be fine." Janice was in pain herself, though she didn't show it. She didn't know why, but not all of her wounds were healing properly. Blood was running down her back from the only half-closed slices. It wasn't like she wasn't used to pain, though. "So... slippery? That's what your Aspect is?"

He did a one-armed shrugged.  "Kinda lame."
