"Then what am I doing right now?"

Lloyd flipped the sword into a gun and started to fire at the monster.

Vespyr absorbed the vibration of the bullets, stopping them before they even struck it.  It tilted its head down at the conversation happening below.  It caught the bullets from the air, then held them tightly in both hands.  The hands began to vibrate, and molten lead dripped from between the fingers. "I apologize for the inconvenience," it said, as the lead cooled in its hands.

A large lead ball shot into Lloyd's head, effectively bonking him (hopefully unconscious.)

“Did you even though about others? Yes, Trace will be alone, but she is powerful. Some of us aren’t.” Shidala looked down and sniffed.

"No one is powerful compared to whatever is powerful enough to control that thing." Lloyd pointed at Vepsyr

Lloyd stumbled and fell back dazed, he had to keep fighting though. He struggled to clear his head.

"It's my fault that you're this way," Janice said. "I'm so sorry that I hurt you like I hurt everyone else."

Vespyr landed and plucked up the lead ball from where it was in the silt.  Vespyr's eyeless, scarred face stared impassively at Lloyd.  "You are a fool.  Do not make me kill you.  I do not wish to kill anyone else this day.  Do not put yourself in my path."

“And that’s exactly why you shouldn’t attack it. Please. You were first person who made me happy since my parents died.” Shidala was crying. “I don’t want to lose you too. Just listen to me one time.”

Lloyd stuck out his foot to try to trip Vespyr.

Lloyd stuck out his foot to try to trip Vespyr.

Vespyr, who had not been walking, looked at Lloyd's leg.  Then, with a punch fuelled by the an insane blast, like a steam-engine train at full force, Vespyr struck Lloyd full-force (and then some) into his jaw.  The wind curved in an arc behind Vespyr, along Vespyr's arm, and then into Lloyd, the force of the blow sending him careening backward, crashing through the forest, at LEAST a good 300 yards.

Vespyr had unleashed the super bonk.

Vespyr punched *around* Shidala.  Vespyr didn't really care about the power of friendship, having never really experienced its magic.

Lloyd was thrown through trees, healing each time he hit one even when the tree broke. he came to a stop in the sand, and groaned. He could heal but he could still feel the pain. I need to get back fast.

About ten seconds too late. If you want to find Lloyd follow the trees that are missing chunks in the shape of Lloyd.

Shidala looked over at him. She decided to ignore that. Well he will probably die. She couldn’t do anything about that. He didn’t care about her.

Just now, ProfetessaOscura said:

Vespyr looked to Shidala.  "If you wish his head to remain atop his shoulders, you will find him, and you will keep him from returning here."

“He won’t listen to me. I’m sorry.” She said over shoulder and walked deeper into woods. Her emotions were exploding inside, but she was used to ignoring them. She couldn’t do anything about that, so it was better to leave and don’t cry. That was one lesson she learned through life. Will her life always look like that from now? Probably. She looked at her knife. Her best friend, who was there for 2 years so far. That’s the longest she ever had. “Why do I live?” She asked it. “Should I just end it? I won’t rescue people I love” she looked at Lloyd running towards and sighed. “No one will miss me.”

Vespyr took a deep breath, then placed a hand on Shidala's shoulder.  It was the most comforting, most human action the creature had ever taken.  It was a monster.  Grotesque.  Disgusting.

"Miss yourself," it ordered firmly.  "Alone is not the end.  You can be strong.  You can be better than the friends that betray you.  Be there.  For yourself."

Shidala looked up. That was unexpected. “Than... thank you. I don’t know if I am strong enough.”

"What do you need to be strong enough for?  Be strong enough to breathe.  Be strong enough to walk.  Be strong enough to see the world around you.  Be strong enough to accept loss."

Shidala smiled through tears. “Thank you. No one ever told me that. I have a lot of respect for you.” She said. “I should leave that place. Goodbye.” She bowed to Vespyr. She never did it without being forced. Then she walked away from others.

Vespyr nodded at Shidalla, then touched two fingers to its lips, forehead, then lips again.  It was an odd salute.  Vespyr stepped away, then strode up to Janice @Channelknight Fadran.  Lloyd, at a full 900 feet away, was still a good distance away.  "If we leave now, I will not need to kill your friend."

Lloyd was going to-- what was he going to do? He was attacking something he could never beat, this was not the right way to save Trace. Lloyd began to walk away in a different direction. He would save them, but now was not the time.
