The first actual state would be Illinois in 1961, thus being very late compared to American Samoa. I don't know why the Samoans decided to do it so early. The rest of the USA would slowly get on the train of gay rights, until 2003 when a Supreme Court case forced everyone to do it in 2003 (Lawrence v. Texas). Despite this, the USAF (US Armed Forces) still resisted until 2011, being the last "US related thing" to legalize gay people, despite the Navy famously already having been half made of gay people (not joking, they have that reputation). This is obviously why the US Navy defeated everyone they ever fought. More proof of LGBTQ+ supremacy.
