"That's..." Craven counted on his fingers. "Really old."

"It can feel that way, yes."  Fifteen seems like a long time ago now, for him.  "But the point stands."

Remembrance feels a sudden resonance of disappointment. After a bit of confusion, it is finally able to pinpoint the origin. It approaches one of the new lives, Craven, represented here by a wisp of light.

"Here, kid, uhh..." Ayia glanced at Martin. "You can come along for this one mission. It probably won't be dangerous at all, but you have to do everything we tell you to. If we tell you to run away and hide, then you run away and hide. Understand?"

Never. Craven would never dream of hiding like a coward. But he knew that they'd never let him go if he said that...

He nodded solemnly.

"Alright." Ayia turned around towards the mountains. "With any luck you shouldn't have to do that anyways. Now... let's go find the others."

Remembrance touches the light, unsure of the result.

...

It is confused. A lack of result! Confusion! It touches the light again, this time pushing against the veil separating it from this little life.

...

Nothing. It is even more confused, and beginning to become frustrated. Remembrance touches the light again, swiping through its incomporeal form with increasing frustration. Finally, it reaches out towards the nearby storm of energy, not really realizing or understanding what it was about to do. It latches onto the energy, finding it very similar to its own life force. It draws in the energy, and then reaches towards Craven's cognitive self. It pushes.

...

Connection!

A name enters its mind: Craven.

Remembrance leaps back, shocked and surprised, its mind filling with things that were not familiar.

Would Craven be able to tell?

"Sure. But the same goes for you. You have to do anything we tell you to do."

Tvora looks nine... (I just checked, that is on her character sheet)

At the very least Craven's gonna feel slighted.

I think so. I imagine that Craven would feel its pressence in his mind, or something like that.

Wait, Fadran I think thought the same as me; that you were asking to join the mission and not the group. He probably should clarify.

But since I thought that's what you meant, so did Craven.

Ah. Makes things... interesting...

Craven suddenly felt something. He didn't know what exactly, but he didn't like it. He held up a hand to his head. "My head hurts." he declared.

"What? I hadn't even started talking about mathematical equations yet."

"Like a normal headache, or something else?"

Craven made a face.

"It just started." he said. "It hurts."

Something else. Definitely something else. Craven isn't lying, he just doesn't know the difference.

"How's about you go sit down? Get a drink of water?"

Craven nodded. That sounded good.

He walked back over to his cabin and sat down on his bed, rubbing his head. He had never had a headache come so suddenly before.

I assume the headache would pass as quickly as it came if Remembrance left Craven's head?

It is going to leave Craven's head, right? :P

Ayia watched him leave, concerned. "I guess... do we want to wait for him?"

@Spren of Kindness

"I don't want to take him with us," Martin says slowly.  "We don't know the risk.  But you said he could go."  He folds his arms.  "We should probably wait a few minutes at least."

"I was too."  Maybe a little older, and mostly training missions or observation, but still.  "But it doesn't sit right.  This is dangerous."

Remembrance is confused, shocked, and unsure about this new thing. It did something new, and it was not sure how! Thoughts from Craven continue to fill Remembrance's head, and Remembrance begins to feel a new emotion: anxiety. This is very new, and Remembrance does not like it at all. It feels Craven's pain, which magnifies its own anxiety tenfold. Suddenly, it feels sympathy. Remembrance follows Craven into his cabin, and hesitantly reaches out toward Craven's cognitive light.

It is again unsure of what will happen, but Remembrance does not like this new pain filling its head. It touches Craven's light, and is flooded with memories. It cannot sort through any of the memories, so it decides to keep its hold on the light. It pushes its own anxiety away, which is slowly replaced by...

>curiosity!<

Quote

Remembrance is attempting to dampen Craven's headache with its curiosity for Craven.
