Dating is definitely not a privilege

I've been on one date and it was awful

I had made it a goal to go on zero dates ever but oh well

Yeah, somehow I think it might be a little different for me. :)

I love being 16. But I cant drive yet cause I'm lazy and procrastinated my drivers ed. But dating is fun, as long as you go with the right people. And its planned well.

why?

Because I'm... how do I say this? I'm a very romantic person. I think practically everyone is cute or hot and I'm a people person when I'm with people. It's an interesting way of being an Ambivert.

Haha, you lucky people, able to date from the age of sixteen. My sister wasn't allowed to date until 20.

Driving is the worst and dating is okay.

dating sucks and driving is awesome (except when you have to drive other people to school)

Wait. Why must you be "allowed" to date?

because that's...how it works?

it is?

you don't have a minimum dating age?

for most members of the church of Jesus Christ the minimum dating age is 16, but my friends who aren't members also have an age rule

No. I had no idea that was a thing. It seems stupid, people should date when they are ready.

but what is the point?

From the For the Strength of the Youth (Church of Jesus Christ handbook thing)

“Do not date until you are at least 16 years old. Dating before then can lead to immorality, limit the number of other young people you meet, and deprive you of experiences that will help you choose an eternal partner.”

Well it's just saying that forming serious relationships early on isn't good. We're also taught to mainly go on group dates and only start seriously single-dating until we're older.

but why isn't it good?

Because how can deciding to date 'seriously' as a 12 year old end up with anything but sadness/annoyance/something else?
