In light of Elder Rasband's invitation to give the Lord equal time, I've come up with the following as a simple first step: I work full-time, but it's not so much one 8-hour shift as it is two 4-hour shifts squished together. So, I'll listen to whatever podcasts/YouTube videos I want one shift, and then Conference/scriptures/LDS YouTube for the entirety of the other. Really there couldn't be a more perfect arrangement if my tism'd, routine-requiring rear end tried.

Well, trying is the important thing, isn't it? You'll get there.

RIP President Russell M. Nelson. It was clearly evident to me that he was a prophet and servant of God, and that he was prepared to lead when he did. I'll miss him dearly, but look forward to the work continuing until "the great Jehovah shall say the work is done."

I saw my dads text saying it so I came here to check.

Tis sad. He was a good guy. Never failed to make me smile. Had some good talks. And did so much in his life. Rest in peace Nelson. 🕊

It's so strange.  A few days ago, I heard the news that the Church had announced he's suffering some health issues.  And this random thought crossed my mind, "he's not going to make it to General Conference."  And I thought, no, that's stupid, of course he will.  And then this morning we get the news... 😭

President Nelson always wanted us to be peacemakers. He wanted us to drive away contention. He wanted us to treat others like Jesus would have treated them. With such a strong source of light and truth no longer with us, we must rise and give the world some light ourselves by following his words and council. To any who may be reading this, I would invite you to study his words and strive to be like Jesus in all your actions. It’s what he always wanted.

Rest in peace, President Nelson. You will be missed.

Hey y'all. I'm rewriting a poem I wrote a couple years ago. I used a couple scriptures in it, and as I'm rewriting it, I would really love to use more. So this is the original poem.

Spoiler

Sweat, blood mixed

Dripped down his face

"Nevertheless

Not my will

But thine

Be done"

For me

For you

Crown of thorns

Back stinging from the whip

Vinegar

Forced to carry wood

bound together

Meant to destroy him

Hands, feet, wrists, side

Pierced

Bleeding

"Father

Forgive them

For they know not

What they do"

For me

For you

Buried In a

Borrowed Tomb

For me

For you

Tears streamed

Down Mary's face

As she went

Only to find

An empty tomb

"He

Is not

Here"

"But

Is

Risen"

For me

For you

But why?

We are not

Perfect

We don't feel

Beautiful

We don't feel

Talented

We give each other wounds

Not from swords or knives

But from something

Much sharper

Words

We destroy

In the name of creation

We care

Less and less

For the things,

People,

Life

Around us

In our eyes

No aspect

Of me

Of you

Is worth saving

But in his

We are

beautiful

We are

talented

And we many not be

perfect

But there is potential

Potential to be better

We are worth

Saving

So for us

He suffered

Died

And rose again

Breaking the bands

Of death

To give us

Hope

And in

You

Me

He planted

His light

So look up

To him

He will make you

Whole again

Give you strength to

Rise up

And together

We can

Lift up

The heavy hands

Succor the weak

Mourn with those that mourn

And lead others

Home

Scriptures:

Luke 24:6

Luke 23:34

Luke 22:42

The title I gave it was The Greatest Gift. Also, I realize now that I may have quoted more than I realized, and cited, I suppose.

If y'all think of any scriptures that could go with this, I would love it if you would share them! Thank you!

First: That's beautiful. Well done.

Second: Reminds me of Ether 12:27 and D&C 18:15-16, though I don't know if they're quotable in this context.

Generally, when choosing a new prophet, they don't do it until after the dead prophet's funeral.

I am sad there are no new temples announced but glad they're recognizing that they need to catch up on their announced ones.

I expect they’ll ordain the new president & apostle as soon as they decide, and we’ll hold the solemn assembly to sustain them in April. That’s how it went with Pres. Nelson and Elder Kearon, anyways.

What was everybody's favorite talk? Mine was probably either William K. Jackson or John D. Amos.

Elder Amos came to my stake a bit ago. It was a treat to hear him talk in conference as well.
