I know that the whole “rising up from prison/slavery and getting power then going for revenge” is a pretty common trope (Count of Monte Cristo), but think about it. There are enough similarities to make me think it’s intentional. I see it. It actually makes sense. Brandon is a member of the Church of Jesus a Christ of Latter Day Saints. So that is pretty likely. I like where you are thinkin.

Joseph forgives the people who caused him to become a slave Kaladin uhh........

The thing that got me was when Kaladin got thrown back into prison in WoR for telling the truth the same way Joseph did with Potiphar’s wife. But the lack of revenge on Joseph’s part is an important difference.

Eran of Arcadia Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Meanwhile, since I had seen the musical and my Primary co-teacher/wife had not, when I taught the lesson on Sunday I kept bursting into snippets of song.

I've even found thematic and musical comparisons between Joseph entering Egypt as a slave and Kaladin entering the Shattered Plains as a slave. Compare and contrast this scene (and its music) with this song by The Black Piper that goes with the scene where Kaladin arrives on the Shattered Plains: When I hear this song, I even think of the Joseph: King of Dreams movie each time! It has that vibe to it, you know? Anyway, I think I've found my people on here. I just finished my two year mission at the end of December and I'm glad to see how some of my Sharder friends of years past are now on their own! congrats on serving your mission! where did you serve? 1

18th Shard he/him Posted March 22, 2022 Posted March 22, 2022 I'm going to be a counselor, but I don't know where yet.
Liahona Posted March 23, 2022 Posted March 23, 2022 I'm rereading Stormlight, and at one point it says something along the lines of "As it happened..." but I misread it as "And it came to pass..." I'm glad that my scripture study is at least staying in my head! 1
